  1. i believe this fight happens live in a couple of hours (4am est) so far i haven't been able to find a stream for it yet. since its only being shown live in Japan, its hard to find a source to stream it.
  2. Rashad will finish Irvin in the 2nd. Irvin has a very poor takedown defense and is not really a threat to submit anybody. Rashad will take him down at will. i expect to see Rashad finish this fight similar to the way he finished Jason Lambert, ground and pound.
  3. gotta give Joe Silva credit for throwing a card like that together on a relative short notice. not a weak fight on the main card. since there aren't any 5rd title fights, they should be able to show more than the guaranteed 5 fights. They definitely should show Marquardt/Leites, that should be a great fight
  4. if i was Alves i would immediately come out with leg kicks to try and kill some the power in Hughes drive-through takedowns. if i was Hughes, i would practice catching leg kicks for the takedown. Alves has improved his takedown defense, but this is still Matt Hughes. if it stays standing, Hughes could be embarrassed, as his standup has not improved at all over the years.
  5. a premier K-1 fighter for the last few years. great striker, who's had mixed results transitioning to MMA. i think he'll KO CroCop though as for the new UFC 85 main event: it all depends on Alves' takedown defense. if it stays standing, Alves will KO hughes. Alves has some of the most brutal leg kicks in MMA. he has shown a poor takedown defense though. this fight ends one of two ways, Hughes by decision, or Alves by KO/TKO
  6. they'll probably do a co-main event deal. werdum vs. vera is strong enough to stand alone.
  7. yeah that dude could've won that fight, he had Credeur out on his feet and took him down instead of standing with him. his limited fight experience definitely showed as he virtually ignored his corner for the entire fight. overall, i'm not seeing much quality from this group of fighters. this doesn't appear to be a strong class overall. on another note Irvin has been confirmed as Evan's opponent at UFC 85
  8. http://mmamania.com/2008/04/22/ufc-85-fight-card-rumored-updates/ all rumors at this point, but a card full of solid matches (much like the last Ultimate Fight Night) would make up for the main event being scratched
  9. yeah Herman just laid on the canvas for a minute just out of it. he was unconscious. he did say after his loss to MacDonald by triangle that he would never tap again
  10. in a video on sherdog, MacDonald said he was goin to stop (as the gif indicates), but Mazzagati told him to keep goin, and then Mazzagatti stepped in. Mazzagati should've been more clear. i can't blame MacDonald for that one
  11. http://i25.tinypic.com/inzhwx.jpg ^^^^very funny gif of the end Jason MacDonald fight with Joe Doerksen at the last weekends card. Steve Mazzagatti once again screws up
  12. in nfl terms, a strained or pulled hammy is a week to week deal. a full blown tear is usually season ending
  13. Starnes being released made the Yahoo's Home Page Headlines. that guy will never live this one down
  14. wow, thats pathetic. i know MMA is new to the mainstream but damn, thats just sad reporting on their part.
  15. probably won't happen for 2 reasons: 1. Evans/Thiago Silva just won't produce any decent ppv buys 2. its not really fair to either fighter to have them fight when they have been preparing for different style fighters. not quite sure what Dana will do about this situation. right now the biggest fight on the card is Werdum vs. Vera, not exactly main event material to the masses.
  16. http://mmamania.com/2008/04/21/report-chuck-liddell-vs-rashad-evans-ufc-85-fight-scrapped/ not sure how true this is, but if it is, they are goin to have to scramble to make a credible main event.
  17. first time in a long time, but i completely agree with Dana on this one.
  18. Silva's chin was tested against Hendo. in the 2nd round Hendo landed a clean uppercut, afterwards Silva taunted him with a "bring it on" move. After that exchange, Hendo landed a flush right hand directly on the chin of Silva and he walked through it. his chin is solid
  19. indeed, i actually think Koscheck if he improves has the best shot of any of the welterweight contenders to beat GSP. GSP walked through Serra & Hughes, and alot of people gave Koscheck a round against GSP. his decision loss to GSP looks pretty good right now seeing how dominant GSP has been recently. i really like Alves, but GSP would never mess with his dangerous leg kicks and would just take him down all fight long. As great as Davis' run has been, i need to see him against somebody thats in the top10 before i give him a shot, he has a great and improving skill set though. Diego doesn't seem to fare well against fighters who are physically stronger than him. i think GSP would control him and finish him in the 2nd. i believe the next TUF is for light heavyweights & welterweights
  20. i agree with most of what you said. Middleweight division certainly looks much better than it did even 6months ago. to the guys you listed i would add Ricardo Almeida and Demian Maia. should have some really great matchups in that division over the next few months.
  21. of course you fight to be champion, but if only championship contenders were fighting, there would only be about 3 or 4 guys in each division. i was simply saying he has a better chance to win the title at 155 than 170. alot of guys continue to fight even though they'll never be champions. you can say for alot of guys in every division. everybody knows that GSP should've won the first match, but thats why they fight, he still has to prove it. if serra does nothing else for the rest of his career, he still KO'd the man who could supplant Matt Hughes as the greatest WW ever, even if it was lucky:D . i do agree that Serra is probably best suited at coaching
  22. i wouldn't call Serra a terrible fighter, he's only lost 5 times, one of which being on a miracle spinning back fist. i'm not at all saying he's top level, but to say he's terrible is ridiculous. i definitely think he'd be much better suited and more competitive at 155lbs though.
  23. i went 4 out of 5, the world may be coming to an end now. only loss was because Starnes ran for 3 rounds:
