  1. Its because I have to acknowledge the possibility, and that it may be exasperbated by our perceived need, is why I don't want to waste capital and trade up. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rd could make our franchise for the next 4 years.
  2. Yeah Edgerrin Cooper has been my Linebacker Man crush since I started looking ahead to the draft in October. THere are other studs in this draft that won't guy very high. My main issue with Cooper is, if we are running a 4-3 is his pass rushing focus going to be wasted. Wilson or Gray would be great Inside/Middle Linebackers for us I believe. A lot depends on how they plan to use Jamin Davis But that speed on Wilson might vault him ahead of Cooper.
  3. I'm not a mitchell fan but in most of the drafts by the time I come back to WR he's gone. Bebe could be good but I also like: Cade Stover TE Ohio State Jaheim Bell TE Ohio State THeo Johnson TE PennState Erick All the TE for Iowa keeps falling like a rock, he at one point was the highest TE after Bowers and the fellow from texas. I feel that trade down scenario strongly especially given the amount of talent in the 2nd Round. Some guys from day 1 that have had my eye for a while: Payton Wilson LB NC State 4.43 Chop Robinson Edge Penn State 4.48 Edgerrin Cooper LB TX A&M 4.51 Jared Verse Edge FSU 4.58 Bralen Trice Edge Washington 4.72 Cedrig Gray LB UNC 4.64
  4. Yes, but I'd also note bears sources are putting out more smoke screens than Cerrato and Bruce Allen combined right now. Okay, I've been an 'okay I'd trade down camp for a while, mainly because I imagine three teams will try to trade up, with Atlanta, Minnesota being 2 of them. But is anyone else scared of the Giants Drafting Daniels? Do you feel the same about Maye? I swear that graphic alone might be enough ammo to make me sit and pick the best guy at #2 because of that.
  5. I do like Pittman, like others not sure he will actually hit the market. I don't remember how far down field he was seeing most of his targets. (What is considered deep? 20 yards? 30?) I remember him having a few memorable catches in the middle of the field between the hashes. But if he's just a deep guy, I think that would move him out of my list for sure. One guy I've heard several people throw around is DJ Chark Jr (think I spelled that right).
  6. You should watch the Eastwood film 'handling the curve'. I know its about Baseball, but the principals in scouting likely are similar in many ways. And search failed me on this, i did look to see if it was posted before I shared this, I'm not saying MVS is the best Receiver available in FA that we could add, but barring the injury history, has had some pretty good impacts in KC and GB. Its interesting ,looking at MVS's stats: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/V/ValdMa00.htm For the record, I wasn't proposing him as a replacement for our #2, but perhaps a better fit at the opposite side of the field from Terry, allowing Dotson to be in the slot on either side (or for them to switch. I think he was injured a bit last year though, and KC had a number of WRs and tended to feede Travis Kelcey a ton.
  7. So THere was talk earlier of maybe getting a Taller WR to take some pressure inside off Terry and Jahan. What amt Marquez Valdes-Scantling, I think he's not yet 30, but at 6'4, He could be the big boddy a Kingsburry Play book could really use to shake things up. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39615740/source-chiefs-release-marquez-valdes-scantling-save-12m Reportedly chiefs did this to save 12 mil on the cap. We could easily pick that up, and extend him for a few years, allowing us to then focus on the best available WR in the draft, and then decide on the futures of Terry/Jahan, etc..
  8. I have never been a fan of 5 WR in critical green zone 3rd downs. Too easy to mess up the timing by sending just 1 more guy unexpectedly from a direciton you don't know about. If you ask me that's on Kyle's play design/call.
  9. There is a lot of maleability in these mock drafts. I've run many scnarios on several simulation sites and I have seen several things. 1. Caleb Williams is #1, but even he could fall, but likely no further than 11. I've seen him available at 5, and 11 in some of the simulations. 2. Daniels is sometimes taken before Maye. 3. There is a lot of interest in the top WRs in this draft. Marvin Harrison Jr is not always the top receiver, but he tends to be taken more oftten then Naborss and Odunze. And in one site, Brian Thomas Jr who is rated 21st best prospect there, is often taken in the top 15. 4. Right now the twop 2 OTs are usually gone in the top ten. Maybe that's not shocking. 90% of the sims I've seen Have Joe Alt #1, followed by Fashanau from Penn State 5. TE Bowers is off the board in vast majority of Sims in top 5, but I've seen him fall to around 11-15 in only 2 sims I've seen. (THere isn't a ton of TE candidates in this draft which may be making people go. 6. OT's Amarius Mims, Troy Fautanu, Tryler Guyton, and Jordan Moragen ( one site has them 22, 25, 26, 35) all could be taken mid to late first, but 1 or 2 could slide into the top of the second. 7. The top DEs are also apparently going in the top ten: Dallas Turner, Jared, Verse and Latu from UCLA are going pretty early. The next 3 that at one point were mocked in the mid to late first are falling out of the second in about half the drafts I've seen this week. (Demeioun Robinson, Penn St, Bralen 8. Early on, the IOL seemed to be 2 in the first then none till the third, but the next 3 have been sliding into the early to mid second round of late. Those are just my observations though. No idea how realistic any of these mock draft simulators actually are. or any insight into how they decide what a team does before FA has even occured.
  10. I wanted to underscore and buttress this by saying, not only where we bad, we were historically bad, and all anyone wants to reference is the record sacks that Howell took (not the franchise altogether) How bad was the defense? I posted this in part of the thread I started earlier, but its relevant here: We were DEAD last in total team defense giving up an obscene 6,612 yards to or opponents. and what's telling is only 3 other teams had to play more offensive plays on Defense. We were also next to dead last in yards per play (5.9, to cincy's 6.0, denvers, 5.8, and Zona's 5.7, even the Hapless Giants were better than us with 5.6 yards per play. Seattle with 1147, and Indy with 1137 (we were 1117) We were the Tenth worse in takeways with a yawning, 18, tied with Phily, Green Bay, and New England (Zona, KC, Atlanta, LA Rams, Titans, and Panthers all had fewer, the panthers only had 11. just wow) The point is, hardly one turnover a game. We were 13th in Fumbles lost with 10. We were third in 1st Downs allowed and could not get off the field with 364 Only ahed of Arizona and Seattle, (369/380) We were 7th in Completions allowed with 396 with only Jax, Tampa, Chicago, 49ers, Eagles, and Vikings allowing more. I was a bit surprised Eagles, and 49ers were higher than us on this one) We were dead last in Passing yards allowed with 4457, nearly a 150 above the Eagles !. We were dead last in passing TDs allowed with 39 (4 more than Philly!) And I had thought our Rushing D was actually decent, I was wrong, we were 6th worse giving up 2155 yards. (only the packers (2181), Giants (2251), Broncos (2331), Seahawks (2352), Cards (2434) had more. We were 11th worse in Rushing TDs given up with 11. pro football reference's advanced team defense has us as 7th worst in Total Air Yards per completion with 2424, 2197 YAC allowed (8th worst), and we were 6th wors in hurries with 34, 1 better than Dallas astonishingly. 7th worst in Team sacks with 39. I could go on and on on the stats: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2023/opp.htm#all_team_stats Not just historically bad, franchise, historically, historically bad... not just in the bad for the history of the franchise, but among the worst historically in the Super Bowl Era.
  11. after watching Kyle's team last night, and looking at their Cap situation for next year, man they are a lot like dallas.: And they have some huge cap hits amont their top twelve players They will have a hard tim resigning any of their free agents. Which include some names: Jon Feliciano C Chase Young DE Ray-ray McCloud WR Jauan Jennings WR (the fellow who through the TD pass in the first half) https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/san-francisco-49ers/ (all this information from sporttrac) It makes me wonder what we might expect in the first year with Adam Peters, will we run the Cap that Tight? Or do we not use all that space so we have space to resign folks in 2025, 2026? I've no idea what we might do, but both San Fran and Dallas will likely not be returning a number of their play off players from this year. That could mean opportunity if lady luck should favor a certain franchise this year.
  12. So I'm not sure if this news source can be trusted... its msn after all, but not sure how some of us will feel that a ownership member may have been meddling in coach hiring decisions for Quinn and Peters.... NFL News: Magic Johnson makes his first big decision as co-owner of the Commanders (msn.com) If you go through a list of names, that is say ten or 20, and you pick 6 to make it to the next round, and 3 bow out, leaving 3, and you end up with #3 of those 3 is that settling? You could have hired the other 3 of the 6, or anyone in the ten or 20? I think saying its settling is to misunderstand the process, and how hiring works. They likely would have been happy with a number of different people, but the combination of skills, leadership ability, communicatin, availablity etc..... ended up leading to Quinn. If you want to depress yourself by continuing to regurgitate the 'settled' for 3rd best when there are hundreds of coaches they could have picked, that's on you.
  13. I couldn't get it to submit... but I had Quinn as an A (i'd say A- if that was an option) I had Kingsbury as a B, because I wasn't impressed with his AZ team. I have whitt as a C in part because I don't know if he's run a defense before on his own, and how much of That defense in Dallas was about players vs coaching.
  14. Thanks for that. I think you are probably right. I liked Samuel in Carolina, but I'm not sure he did enough to earn another contract here, and there are other people to go There are so many Talented WRs in this draft too, I think we sign a FA and draft at least one. Heck I'd not be surprised if we draft someone for the return game.
  15. Yeah they apparently had a rubric for the coaching search broke down into categories my ears glazed over after the 4th one so cI can't regurgitate them all here.
  16. I don't know if this is true, It felt like Sam was missing or had so little time this year that after choiecs 1 and 2 it was not clear if he was seeing his other reeds on many plays. And yet he still needed a 17th game to help Terry to 1000 yards. 🤦‍♂️
  17. I don't think anyone is predicting it, just discussion the possibility if we did. (not exactly an apples to apples comparison) What's more, the more I find myself trying the trade down route I am either more convinced that these sims are crap (because some teams throw WAY to many picks for a 2nd and a 3rd), But I have noticed that if you do trade down, you may do from multiple picks.... In one draft I endedup with 15 selections, 6-7 in the first 100. After going through that, i feel like once you get passt the 4th or 5th pick the focus and quality of what's available begins to become lesser to some degree, although there is a lot of talent in this draft, I think its better than last years. But I expect them to draft someone at #2 likely a QB, but could be an OT. In part because if they can move around late in the draft, they can still add a couple this year and next year picks if they are smart about it.
  18. Wow, EB was Helping KC out while still under contract technically with Washington? Did he have permission to do this? Not that any of us care, but *cough* tampering?
  19. I saw the tweet about Samuels maybe being a fit in Kingsbury's bubble screens etc. Dyami Brown could do those routes too, and it would be easy to pick up a mid round WR with speed that can do that also. I have found a certain USC WR particularly interesting, not just because of his pedigree As for LB There are three I really like, and they might be there in late 2nd or mid 3rd round: Edgerrin Cooper TX A&M, Jeremiah Trotter JR Clemson, and Cedric Gray (UNC) Trotter's highlight reel is not as exciting to me as the other two, Gray showed incredible athleticism on several plays in the Senior bowl or East west Shrine Bowl.... But Coooper, man that guy has tape showing him as a spy, a pass rusher, and incredibly physical tackler. I'd love to see him on this team.
  20. I've not explored a trade down with Chicago, but I wonder if a three way trade that has a veteran coming here could happen? Not normally at this point in the draft process though. I have simmed a few mocks two and I've seen a few scenarios possible. one is the trade back NE Moves up 1, usually takes a QB (But sometimes takes a OT) if AZ jumps NE, they tend to take Neighbors over harrison JR or QB. If You trade back twice, AZ sometimes takes a tackle. I have seen 1 sim wehre WIlliams lasts to pick 11, with us, and we decide to trade with the RAiders who take him. If we trade back to 11, and WIlliams is there, That's a scenario that's hard to fathom. What I have seen a lot more recently is Chicago taking the kid from LSU I've seen them taking Maye, and Harrison Jr, as well as Williams. I've no idea how mocks make that decision. I've seen maye fall into the teens, I've not seen Jayden fall below 5 or 6. What has shocked me is some people taking J J McCarthy in the 15-21 range. I've even seen Bo Nix in that range. For a while Penix Jr was where McCarthy was, but he seems to be falling into the 2nd in recent sims. I think my favorite trade back scenario is 2 trade backs to the teens somewhere, then take BPA, then trade up to take Bo Nix, or another key player in the back end of the first. If we sign a Veteran it will be shocking to see what happens in these predictions, even if its not someone like say Cousins. I am torn on the #2 pick a lot, in part because I have RG3's injury in my head, it makes me not want to take a QB there potentially, but I think we will, and we do it because we have SO many other picks, and there are a number of D and O Studs this draft.
  21. WHy the heck would you trade Daron Payne? Vs Jon Allen? I'm no ta huge fan of trading up. A lot depends on how they show in the combine, but there are 5 QbS I like in the first 2 rounds. The three oBvious ones, plus Penix Jr, and Bo NIx. NIx's accuracy is particularly interesting, but I'm not sure how good he is off schedule which is Why I doubt we trade back and wait to select him. I'd be happy when any of those 5, and if they Trade or sign a Veteran To take over, I'd be shocked if they didn't take a QB in 2nd rd. That chart was interesting, It would be interesting to know where the Free Agent QBs, and the rest of the ROokies fall in that grid.
  22. He also used the scottish word for yed posterior.... Saying he wanted to kick that part of the anatomy. I saw a smirk on harris' face but man, HArris looked like he either needed a root canal, or he has the bellicheck grimace mastered.
  23. The Man I saw in that interview..... man I never realized how much Quinn looks like a Cross Between Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Megamind. But man, after hearing that presser, Did anyone else feel like even if they weren't paid by the team, that they'd go run through a wall right now for him? Man they weren't kidding on this guy's charisma.
