  1. But will John set his ego aside to let Beal be the true #1 option? It should be Beal's squad. He's grown up into a true leader. Guys like Troy Brown and Thomas Bryant REALLY look up to him. No knock on Wall, but I can't recall and younger players really taking to him like we're seeing some of the young guys do with Beal. Beal, is everything you'd want in a franchise player. There's been a void of leadership on this team since Paul Pierce's departure, but I think Beal "gets" it.
  2. If he rejects the 3/111, I think the team should explore moving him. Though Beal could gamble on himself this year and shoot for the all-NBA to get the super-max w/ the Wizards. However, seeing what happened with Gil Arenas after getting the big contract after injury, I'd have to think that the team would tread lightly. We've talked about it before, but I think Beal and his camp were 100% behind the media leaks early on in the season. He's no dummy. He sees what's going on around the league and knows that there is no way that this team is going to be contending for anything due to their salary cap issues. By the time they do, he's going to be in his late 20s. Is it worth sticking around for that?
  3. How is he NOT going to be an average player when he comes back? LOL. Some of you guys got amnesia when it comes to remembering just how good Wall has been over the years. The way some of yall talk about him, you'd think he was a Mike Penberthy clone. OBVIOUSLY he's not going to net a return like if he was 100% injury free...but there is literally zero reason for him not to average anything north of 15/8. He was a shade below Mike Conley's effectiveness last year. PLAYING ON ONE LEG. Shep would be an idiot to package Beal/Wall together. Teams trying to fleece the Wizards just so they can rid themselves of Wall's supermax. If they remain patient, Wall will have value by next summer or early in the 20-21 season.
  4. Don't think there's a chance in hell Buck comes back to Cap 1 for any sort of ceremony during the season. Maybe it was just him being emotional, but in his interview, he said he's not watching games. I loved Buck/Phil/Kara, but them being gone isn't going to make me stop watching the team. Yes, it probably could have been handled better, but I'm more concerned about the product on the court than anything else. Took entirely too long to fire EG, so I'm curious as to what this Shep era will have the team looking like 3-4 seasons from now. Wall and Beal need to be traded separately. The return is lessened if it's a package. Beal is probably the hottest commodity on the market right now. Trade him alone and reap the king's ransom in return. Wall, when he comes back, WILL 100% have trade value. If you're an average to above average player, to good, to star player, your contract is NOT untradeable. In a vacuum, looking the money owed to Wall is staggering. However, the Wizards won't have any issues moving him to a team looking to add another piece to a potential championship contender.
  5. He should be putting in work like Blake Griffin. Blake has almost remade his entire game. He's a LEGIT threat from behind the arc. Didn't happen overnight, but it's a testament to how he's become one of the best all-around 4's in the league.
  6. Parts of Clarke's game remind me of Shawn Marion. Wouldn't have been mad if he was our pick, but I'm more than pleased w/ Rui and his potential.
  7. Man, wut? Issuf Sanon dropped 30 a day or so ago in a U20 game vs. Serbia. He was PUTRID...and that's be generous during SL. I don't know what to make of this LOL
  8. You talk just to talk sometimes. I honestly don't think you watch the games.
  9. Personally, I hope he sits for the season...but the recovery is 11-15 months. Might see him out there next year.... I think this is all politician speak. They'd be idiots to not field offers. What incentive does Beal have to stay here? This is a hopeless situation that will see him squander his prime.
  10. Beal - TON of value...he's going to net the biggest return in the league (as of now,) so why package him with Wall? Wizards aren't THAT desperate. Wall - He'll have value on the trade market once he returns. No contract in the league is unmovable if you can prove that you can contribute. I have ZERO doubt that Wall will be better than 15/8 when he comes back. If he's back by the all-star game, keep an eye on the Wizards trying to move him this summer.
  11. Edwards was drafted before Schofield, so I'm not sure what you're getting at here as far as this being one of the Wizards' failures. Also, there are 28 other teams that passed on Lecque, so let's see how this actually plays out before condemning. Anyways....Issuf Sanon will probably never crack a NBA roster. Such a waste of a pick. Isaac Bonga has some real potential. Talked about it a page or so back, but he's a guy to keep an eye on.
  12. Folks are INSANE thinking there won't be a market for John Wall. Don't care what his contract is or that he's coming off an injury...he's going to have suitors the second he puts up averages north of 15/8. On one leg, he put up Mike Conley numbers LOL
  13. Also, for someone whose defense was noted as a weakness at Gonzaga, he's looked completely aware and competent out there for the Wizards during SL.
  14. "attacked?" LOL sensationalized youtube caption. 2nd foul looked worse than it actually was. Seemed like Allen held back a bit after he realized what he was doing.
  15. Yup...go-go is his calling for now. Watch him be the key player (in due time) from the trade w/ the Lakers. I'm pulling for Jones. Undersized but a dog on the boards and on defense. With the team rebuilding, they need to find a way to fit him in as the 14th or 15th guy on the bench. I'm just going off of what Lou Will said, but it was encouraging to hear one of the best 6th men in NBA history talking him up a bit on Gil's podcast .
  16. Did the NBA approve the usage of two basketballs during games? If so, this pairing is going to be lethal.
  17. If there are any games left, Rui needs to be shut down. Nothing else to prove out there.
  18. Rui clearly the most talented guy on the floor. He can do so much. I'll tell u what...Isaac Bonga is REALLY intriguing. He's only 19 and listed at 6'8". Wouldn't be surprised if he grew another inch or two. Unreal size for a PG.
  19. Dwight's first 8-9 years in the league is what got him in the Hall. His stats and award resume was insane. Melo is one of the best pure scorers in the league's history. However, he's one of the last HOF caliber players you'd ever want to build around OR potentially want on your team. I don't know if I articulated this well LOL... Russ...all about him. Will compromise and sabotage a team dynamic for his own stats. One of the most unique athletes in the history of the sport. However, I wouldn't want him running my team. Of all the HOF PGs, he'd probably be near the bottom of guys that you'd want.
  20. Would KL have signed there? Seems like the PG deal was the one that ultimately got him to LA. From what I've been reading, KL wouldn't have gone to LA unless PG was there. Makes me think that the crazy haul for George was to ensure that 1) the LA Lakers were eliminated from the KL sweepstakes, and 2) guaranteeing that KL would sign w/ the Clippers if George was brought in. I honestly don't think that Beal would have netted nearly the same return. It's almost a 2 for 1 deal. However, there has to be a desperate team out there looking to upset the balance of power in the league by acquiring Beal. Gotta think Shep played this one right by being patient. I really believe that Beal will be elsewhere by the time TC opens up.
  21. At some point we need to have a discussion about Dwight, Carmelo Anthony, and probably Russell Westbrook. 3 HOF players with ridiculously polarizing careers.
