  1. Well, he has still made money from NIL. He has other deals, totaling over $1 million IIRC (but don't quote me on that number), so he's doing ok. He's making money, but the big question is whether the lure of way more money would be enough to entice him to transfer. It wasn't, and that is indeed a testament to his character. Also the fact that he apparently refused to take NIL deals unless his teammates were part of it means a lot as well, IMO.
  2. Yeah I'm bracing myself for the possibility that we'll go with Daniels, and I'm working on being convinced that it could work out. And obviously if he's our QB I'll support him. But I just feel like it would be a baffling pick and, I agree, very much a classic "Washington" move.
  3. Agreed. The NIL thing is going to end up being a huge issue. Not necessarily because there's a problem with a college player getting paid for advertising, etc. but because teams will do this exact thing and figure out ways to use loopholes to exploit the NIL rules and essentially bribe players to transfer to their schools.
  4. Yeah I don't really disagree that a team that drafts him will almost have to start him immediately. That's a separate discussion. I just think it might not work out the way some people have convinced themselves it will. There are issues there that I think may be very magnified in the NFL and end up with him getting hurt, and regardless of where he goes, I hate seeing guys get injured.
  5. I can see this line of thinking but I think someone who drafts Daniels with this belief could be headed for potential disappointment. Yes, his footwork and mechanics are more refined than Maye. Yes he's certainly had more starts. But I also think there are red flags that could hamper him from being immediately successful. He was behind a really good OL at LSU; that likely won't be the case on his new team. He had two stud WRs at LSU who consistently got separation an were open; that's also not likely to be the case in the NFL. Those things matter considering his worrisome pressure to sack ratio and how rarely he throws when pressured vs pulling his eyes down and running. The pulling his eyes down and running so quickly IMO is going to take some time to adjust, which means he'll probably be running a lot as a rookie, and given his slight frame, that feels like a possible injury waiting to happen. His lack of experience with lots of tight window 2nd level throws between the numbers as well as anticipation throws is also going to be a hindrance because he's not going to have the luxury of big windows or waiting until guys get open to throw the ball in the NFL. Now, I could absolutely be wrong and maybe he'll come into the league and immediately adjust. But I feel like a lot of people who are watching and scouting him are hanging on the mechanics/footwork/experience stuff when it comes to "he's ready to play from day 1" and ignoring all of the issues that could point in the other direction.
  6. I dunno. In interviews and his pressers Harris seemed to really be all about the long term thinking vs. short term gains. (Assuming it's Harris you're talking about re: "coming from above") I feel like the main people who would have the shorter term "win now" mentality would be some of the coaches because they're the ones who's jobs are closest to being on the line based upon initial results vs. a GM.
  7. The description of the burger says pickles. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cw8Yaj0LIiU/?ref=badgen&hl=ja I think they're half sour pickles. They tend to look much more fresh and cucumber-ish than regular full sours or dills.
  8. This is why JJ reminds me of Alex Smith. Not really a guy who's going to carry a team, but if you put the right pieces around him he'll be very efficient, will limit turnovers, and will be able to help move the chains. Could that change in the NFL and he'll turn into a stud who can carry a team with his arm? Sure. Is there any actual evidence for it? No, not really. Is that gamble worth betting the #2 overall pick on?
  9. He didn't play Mahomes. He played KC's defense. And he sucked against them. And I don't think both Allen and Lamar will have a long time in the league. Lamar is a mediocre passer. He'll be 28 this year. Once he loses a couple more steps with age and his running isn't nearly the weapon it was when he was young, I think his effectiveness will go downhill quickly. We've seen what happens when defenses are able to mitigate his running and force him to be a pocket passer. Again, I don't care about an MVP if the guy consistently lays eggs in the post season. Neither have a SB win but I'll put my money on the guy who has shown great play in the postseason and will likely be in the league for another 10 years vs the guy who chokes in the postseason and relies mostly on his legs to win.
  10. Yes they were. They were favored. And he sucked, and they lost. Just like in their previous playoff runs with him. I would take Allen 100 times out of 100 over Lamar. Allen is really good in the postseason and he'll likely still be an elite QB 8 years from now when Lamar is just a distant memory.
  11. Who cares if he wins MVP if he sucks as soon as he gets to the playoffs and lays an egg? Dude will never win a SB. He's a choker as soon as his legs are mitigated by a decent defensive plan and he's forced to win with his arm. And Josh Allen has thrown 21 TDs to 4 INTs in the postseason. There's no comparison between him and Lamar in that regard.
  12. Sure, anything is possible. But if Daniels the NFC's version of Lamar let's hope he's not totally Lamar, because Lamar isn't ever going to win a SB IMO. He's the quintessential regular season hero, postseason zero. Dude sucks in the playoffs.
  13. They mostly just had me confused because I thought both Jones and Lance sucked as prospects.
  14. You actually want to draft a guy with a top 5 pick who you compare to Alex Smith?
  15. Ah, shifting to the "You don't get it so I'm taking the high road now" tactic. I'll give it a 5.7/10.
  16. Stop it. You know perfectly well that you were saying what I quoted with some insinuation that being sure that the "only" (your bolded word) explanation is <x> doesn't really make sense. It's like some weird ass passive-aggressive flanking maneuver. Just bypass that nonsense and say you don't really buy it.
  17. If nobody is getting direct info from people inside the Commanders organization (and they've admitted this) then what other conclusion is there? They're either just giving their opinion or they're reporting on the opinions of others who are not in the Commanders organization and not involved in the decision making process.
  18. Yes, none of these guys are actually getting inside info from people who are par of the decision process for this team. They've admitted it.
  19. There are no signs of anything from anyone involved in the process. The "signs" you're talking about are sports writers and social media people who either express their opinion or say what they've "heard" about those guys from some random sources who may or may not actually be with other teams but who most certainly have nothing to do with the Commanders FO.
  20. This is what I was thinking as well. I agree that it's likely the opposite. Fixing a purely physical thing is just a matter of drilling over and over until it's muscle memory. Something mental is going to take a much more broad effort because it's basically changing a person's thinking process.
