  1. This is a tough one for me too. I like Herring a lot, but I hope Lesnar wins. You have to respect Dana for throwing him against some pretty tough guys right out of the gate. I would be interested to see the odds on that fight, because he could easily lose this fight. Nothing against Mark Coleman, but I am a lot more interested in this fight now that Herring has stepped in.
  2. I am probably more excited about this card than I have been in a while. I am looking forward to all three of those fights. Luckily, I will be out of town the weekend of Affliction, so if I see it, I am not going to be paying for it.
  3. As I stated before, I had the fight scored a draw. I could see a slight decision going to Forrest, but the 49-46 shocked me. The last thing I will say about the fight is that, I know Rampage is a class guy, but he had no issues with the decision immediately after the fight. That is when you get people's true feelings. Sure in the post-fight press conference, he had a little different take of things after Ibarra was livid. But immediately after the fight he simply said that he got his a** whipped. Now I don't think that is true either, but if he truly thought he won the fight, I feel pretty certain that he would have told us. If Rampage did not have a problem with it, then it is hard for me to.
  4. And, just in case anyone was wondering.... KENNY FLORIAN FINISHES FIGHTS! I know that has nothing to do with tonight's card, but I just felt like it had to be said.
  5. This is the same way I had it. As much as I hate draws, that is how I think it should have been. Time to pass out.
  6. I saw that on Sherdog as well. There are not really a lot of blockbuster fights on the next couple of pay per views (but a lot of good ones IMHO), but there sure are some huge ones on the horizon if the cards fall like they should.
  7. Hmmm...I am on IE...at work. But I normally don't have any problems viewing pictures here. I blindly blame BigMike................
  8. So, since most people want to see Franklin-Henderson, could this be setting up a fight between the two if they both win at UFC 88? I could see that being announced that night if they both win.
  9. That is what I am thinking too. I am sure they want to get him a win, but it is far from a given. Should be an interesting fight. They have some tickets still available, but the moderate-to-low priced ones are gone. They still have some $604 ones available, but I don't think I can afford a few of those right now.
  10. I don't know how I feel about this. Henderson-Franklin would have been a heck of a fight. It is a fight that a lot of people want to see (including myself), and that is what I expected to hear that Hendo's next fight was going to be. But this is an interesting matchup. I think Dan wins, but it is not going to be as easy as a lot of people are going to think. I don't know much about Pahlares other than his sub of Salaverry a few months ago, but I hear really good things. I was going to buy tickets to this event since I have some friends in Atlanta, but decided against it at the last second. The cash flow is a little low right now. But now I regret it because I would like to see Chuck and Hendo in person. Oh well.
  11. I think you are pretty much spot on here. I feel the same way about Barnett too, I hope he puts on a good performance. The only pick I *might* disagree with is Arlovski. I just have a feeling that Rothwell is going to win that one. It all depends on which Pitbull shows up I suppose, which will be interesting with the addition of Freddie Roach. It just amazes me the lack of advertising that Affliction is doing. For what is, at worst a really good card, the only real advertising I have seen has been on MMA websites. Those people know about it with or without the advertising. They could pull in so many casual fans, but they just have not made enough people aware of it. I just don't get it. It's like they already blew the budget on the fighters, so they can not afford any more advertising.
  12. And now for this urgent, breaking news......Kelly Kelly is delicious :hump:
  13. I am looking forward to that card. Should be some interesting fights.
  14. I think someone's sarcasm detector may be broken...
  15. Is anyone on the UFC's e-mail list for special events, ticket offers, and things of that nature? Not the Fight Club, but just the e-mail list. If so, can you PM me, I have a question. Thanks!
  16. That's awesome, but isn't Anderson's english terrible? That could lead to some interesting coaching.
  17. I heard something about that as well, but have no documentation.
  18. Oh I am sure they can be bought, but I think they know that a situation such as this would bring a lot of attention to the UFC, and not necessarily in a positive way. I think more about Dana than the Fertitas. With Dana being with the sport since its lean years, I don't think he would let it get cheapened (for lack of a better word) by getting Vince involved. Also, with the way that Dana talks about people now, can you imagine him trying to work with Vince and some of the things he would probably say about him? I don't think that situation would last very long.
  19. Yeah, it has been kicking around for a while and I pray that it never happens. Vince has been a great business man, no doubt about it. But, like you say, it would seriously tarnish the reputation of MMA. I think Zuffa cares too much about the UFC and the sport in general to ever allow this to happen.
  20. Come on, now who has not done that before? :paranoid:
  21. Yeah, I was going to touch on that earlier, but I was going to be very long winded about it and probably contradict myself about six or seven times, so I decided against it. But here goes nothing... I do agree with you that the casual fans want to see the biggest guys, but they also want to see the strikers; the guys that are capable of delivering a KO. That is why heavyweight boxing is struggling, because aside from Klitschko and maybe Samuel Peter, you are not really going to see a lot of excitement. And that is why a lot of fans have, and rightfully so, shifted their attention to the lower weight classes where the fights are more exciting. I think MMA is similar, like you said. And like boxing, I think the divisions below HW have the most exciting fighters, smaller obviously, but that are still capable of ending a fight at any moment. That is why lower weight classes in boxing struggle, because featherweights can go out there and punch for days, but they do not carry any power. So most of the time it goes to the scorecards. But in MMA, there is a lot more than one way to end a fight. You see a guy like Faber that is so fundamentally sound in so many diciplines and has so many ways to end a fight. I guess what I am saying is that the excitement, the drama is there in MMA regardless of weight class, and the smaller guys are going to have a lot better chance at recognition than they will in boxing.
  22. Yep, these two guys are really the ones that disappointed me. Herring and Cro Cop were probably my two favorites from Pride, and they were so disappointing. I will never forget Herring's first fight against Jake O'Brien and me just staring at the TV in shock. And Cro Cop... But maybe Herring is getting back on the right track....we'll see.
