  1. I am excited about this one. Thank god for HDNet!
  2. What sucks is that it went a few minutes over. I watched it, and recorded it on my DVR as well, but it missed the ending. I meant to record the next show, but I forgot.
  3. And Dean Malenko of the later generation... I loved Malenko, but will never really think of him as one of the Four Horsemen
  4. Big Show is an emotional guy. I remember he had a very tough time on the Raw after Eddie Guerrero's death. I know this was a completely different situation, but I just remember how he was on that show.
  5. I thought that was a possibility, but I would have liked to see what he had to say. Oh well.
  6. I work right beside the mall. I am going to start hanging out at the bar at Mortons, just waiting for the Nature Boy. Well, on second thought, I can't really afford that
  7. He could very well want to retire. I mean he has been going at this full-time now for what, 36 years? That is a long time to be in this business. I would love to see him as a manager, and he would bring credibility back to being a manager, but I don't know if it is going to happen. If it does, I think it will be a while.
  8. By the way, where was Vinny Mac last night? I only saw the start and the end...to see Flair's tribute, so I could have missed him. But I was waiting for Vince to come out during the tribute. Guys like Flair have built this business and made Vince and his family a whole lot of money. I wanted to hear Vince honor Ric and recognize what he has done for wrestling. Like I said, I did not watch much, so I could have missed it, or it did not happen. I just thought it would have given Vince a chance to show that he is human and not always a prick.
  9. I have to believe he is gone, for a while at least. It did not seem like it was a work at all. A very good tribute, but sad at the same time to see such a legend go. But it was time. If he truly is gone, I am going to miss him. I have been a casual fan for a while now because the product just did not entertain me as much. But I would watch when Flair had something big going on. He is one of the last links to the past, when wrestling was different. I am not going to say it was better, because that will touch off a pissing match, but I personally watched it a whole lot more. To me, he was the most entertaining man since I have been watching wrestling, which has been a while now. On top of that, he was a great wrestler and a hell of a man. Now that I am living here in Charlotte, I hope I can run into him one day. I constantly hear stories about him from people that have met him here. One of the guys I live with met him in the airport a few weeks ago. People that are amazed that they met him five, even ten years ago and he remembers them. That he will stop and talk to you and genuinely cares. That does not happen much anymore with people that have his stature. I am going to miss the Nature Boy. There will never be another like him.
  10. Speaking of Strikeforce... Obviously it is late-late night, but I am usually up that late on weekends and will probably check it out. It is not huge exposure, but any exposure is good exposure. it will get their foot in the door. I wonder how this affects their relationship with Showtime, seeing as how they are affiliated with CBS. NBC TO PREMIERE STRIKEFORCE SERIES APRIL 12 March 28, 2008 Michael Afromowitz (muaythaimes@aol.com) In a monumental step for the fastest growing sport around the globe, world championship promotion, Strikeforce, has partnered with NBC to deliver the first-ever weekly mixed martial arts cage fight program on one of the four major national television networks in The United States. The series, spanning 52 weeks, will air every Saturday from 2-2:30 am ET, beginning on April 12th. Each show will run 30 minutes and will be comprised of fighter profiles as well as Strikeforce mixed martial arts fights and highlights. The announcement was made by Jerry Petry, Executive Vice President, NBC Universal Television. http://www.strikeforceusa.net/news.asp?ID=77
  11. That's what I think, but he has always not ruled out a return to UFC. It is a business and he understands that. With that being said, I am intrigued to see what happens with Dream.
  12. In your opinion, do you think there is a chance that could happen anytime soon? I am skeptical.
  13. Tim used to have some exciting fights, but they have been pretty slow for a while. With him leaving, I am just concerned about the lack of true contenders for the belt as was referenced before. I had high hopes for a lot of the ex-PRIDE HW's when they came to UFC, but that has not exactly panned out. Nog has obviously done well, but Cro Cop and Herring...not so much. I like Herring and hopefully the win over Kongo will jump start him a little.
  14. Fudge. I thought this was going to happen, but I was hoping it would not.
  15. Thank god for this thread...I almost forgot about WEC.
  16. Thank you for your valuable insight. I will remember that it is "very bottom feeding" and I will also remember that capitalization and punctuation is apparently not very important.
  17. Well, in most cases, they have not done a great job with charachter develpoment. With the women, it has been almost perfect. I don't think it is a good thing, because that can not sustain a company in my opinion. But they are showing that smart things can be done. Maybe it can carry over to the other gender.
  18. Well the WWE and TNA have completely different strategies when it comes to the women. With the WWE, wrestling is secondary, while in TNA, if they are hot, that is great, but they are wrestlers first. The WWE does have a few that can wrestle, Phoenix, Victoria, Mickie James...and that's about it. The rest are pretty bad. I did not watch any women's wrestling for a long time because of the WWE, I would just change the channel. Don't get me wrong, I love to look at them, but don't try to pass a lot of that off as wrestling. But I was very surprised at the women in TNA. They are really good and take some serious bumps. They are at a completely different level that almost all of the WWE's women's division. TNA's women have been wrestling for years, they are not just models that a WWE talent scout asked if they wanted to try to wrestle.
  19. I ask myself the same question from time to time. She is one of those girls that can go either way from week to week.
  20. I think you pretty much nailed one aspect of the situation. But I think there is also a pride element too, not just greed (don't get me wrong, I think that plays a big role here too). Randy is 44 years old, he does not have a lot of time left. And as good as he has been, he has been hearing that he is not the best in the world for years. He wants to fight that man. He wants to beat that man. Who knows how many fights he has left in his body. He would like to settle things against the man people have been touting as better than him for a long time now.
  21. I absolutely agree with you, but if Couture returned, he would keep the belt. It is not fair to the other fighters. I love Randy too, but he has no plans to fight right now. You can't put the entire division on hold.
  22. Is he? I thought that he was just labeled "interim" HW champ. I personally recognize Nog as champ, but the UFC does not... http://www.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=fighter.TitleHolders
  23. Now, I am excited about this. I knew moving to Charlotte was going to pay off somehow! My only problem is that I can find nothing about the GFC, the venue, or how to get tickets.
