  1. His drafting record is very spotty. First and second round success with poor results in every other round. Fired twice in Carolina. As long as Kyle stays, I see this as still Ron's show with everyone else their to support him.
  2. This offseason, demand is higher than supply for quality QB's. Last off season was better for buyers. I am not keen to get into bidding wars for the best of the best qb's. I am fine with either mid tier FA along with mid round rookie, or no more than a 3rd rounder for a mid tier starter. Keep building the entire team and splurge when most of the team is average to above average. Right now, I feel the DL is above average and every other position group is below average to average.
  3. Russell on his podcast brought up the idea that Rivera needs a GM who is comfortable working predominantly on the administrative duties for the team so Rivera can be free to concentrate more on coaching and team building. Some of these candidates are more "personnel " guys with limited history of real GM (admin) duties.
  4. If its Hurney or Mayhew it might be as a non traditional GM. Meaning, they could do everything but personnel, leaving that part to Kyle. Rivera could concentrate more on coaching and having final say on everything but the day to day team management would be up to Hurney/Mayhew. That's what Standig speculated.
  5. Walking that fine line between "Spend whatever it takes to upgrade this team now to take advantage of the 2-3 year window" vs "Build it over multiple seasons into a perennial powerhouse ala Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New England and Seattle." I think the latter has always been Rivera's plan. Just because the DL has advanced the rebuild quicker than expected, it must be tempered by the long term plan. Count me as continuing mining for diamonds with mid-tier free agents (including QB) while using all those draft picks to improve at the same time. Find a QB who will contribute to wins but not be the main reason for winning while improving as many other positions as possible.
  6. Trying to find a 'Goldilocks ' solution. Mid tier starter ($15-$20 million a year) that is either FA or costs 3rd rounder or less to trade for combined with 2nd or 3rd round rookie and Alex retired/released/restructured. I don't just want a "window ", I want a perennial winning culture.
  7. 4 weeks ago I was hoping for a top 5 draft pick (QB), now I am pretty caught up in the playoff push fever. I do feel a bit of whiplash from accepting a rebuild year so this team could be built right over multiple seasons to "the Super Bowl window opens next season " so pay and/or trade whatever you can to add offensive firepower. I think a compromise can be had. One to two Teir 1 free agents with the rest from lower teirs and use all eight draft picks.
  8. For years the prevailing logic in NFL has been. Draft a QB who you perceive as a year one or year two starter and build up the team around them as much as possible with cheaper positions (not QB, DE CB or WR) and hope you win.
  9. Keim just said on his podcast that he thinks the name gets announced this week. Doesn't know what it is or whether it will be a temporary or permanent name. Also said we would have known it by now if not for the Post story.
  10. We root for drama. In the absence of winning football and actual decent people running this team we are forced to root for drama.
  11. Ugh... Please tell me this Washington Post story will actually drop this week and won't instead be a long legal slog were the story never comes out but is instead leaked bit by bit for the next six months while the status quo remains.
  12. This is the times when I love being on this forum. Potential juicy news about to drop and we can speculate as much as we want. Fun times!!
  13. Guessing someone has been working on a piece for a while and was going to have an exclusive so everyone has kept their mouth shut.
  14. Another black mark on Dan's ownership. In the end Dan is where the buck stops. It would be nice if this is the straw that broke the camel's back. Maybe this is why minority owners were trying to sell.
  15. I'm going to guess that Santos/Mann hid details about player injuries and or had something to do with players getting treated poorly. Bad news but not enough to get a stiff penalty. Totally just trying an educated guess.
  16. Playing devil's advocate, other than 3rd and long, how does the quick passing game nullify the pass rush? Please present your answer in essay form. Extra credit will be given for written diagrams.
  17. Is it the same link as we used last year? Only reason I ask is because it says 2016 in the link. Thanks for all the good work!
