  1. Congrats. You lasted about half a quarter longer than Rod Strickland did when he was those turn of the century Wizard teams...
  2. Awesome. Don Maclean is the post-game color man. I missed this game to install a showerhead... They just replayed Gordon's 3 to send it to OT. Got McGee up with a pump fake? On a 6 foot guard? Wall had a knockdown j on a fastbreak that totally reminded me of watching Sam Cassell...
  3. GACOLB...I bet he loves playing McGee in NBA Live '11 or NBA 2k11 or whatever NBA video game there is... Just imagine if video games had some type of penalty for low basketball iq. You push block and instead of jumping for a block you back off... or you simply bite for the pump fake without pushing a button... But honestly he has every right to be pissed off if he paid good money to watch the Wizards pefrom and one of them says "screw it, I'm not going to give 100%"... don't know why fans would fill up the Verizon Center either...
  4. They are totally tanking. During the broadcast on the Clippers I even think their sideline reporter said something like, "While most teams are in push to the NBA playoff mode, the Wizards are in "preseason mode" ".
  5. With McGee its almost like he has this attitude "I play basketball because of my parents, but I really don't love playing basketball. Its a job, and it provides for me." Is there passion in his game? Just a theory I'm kicking around. I don't know if ESPN or someone else has done stories on this... (for some reason I think RIcky Williams had this attitude in the NFL?). It would not surprise me to find a non-insignificant number of athletes in pro-sports are doing it because its a job and not because they have a passion for ballin. There's nothing wrong with that so long as they are willing to find employment, although from a fan's perspective its pretty 'f'ed up.
  6. Damn you. I didn't defend anything they did. I even penciled in Booker as a starter over Blatche. You want my to write in a potential front-court of Rookie+Booker with McGee coming off the bench? McGee is too young to 100'% write off at this point. That's just my point. Maybe one day he'll be walking down the road in Chinatown and some herbal medicine guy will provide him with some herbs that increase his basketball IQ. Perhaps his parents will talk to him about going to the next level in the NBA. Maybe he'll get it. Right now he's young, and he doesn't fully get it. He's immature and he even looks like the whiny type of team-mate you wouldn't like to play with because he gets discouraged at every mistake, gets upset when he doesn't get the pass and when he does get the pass fumbles it out of bounds. The solution next year will be to make sure Blatche and McGee don't stay on the floor together (not sure if they did this season). Blech!
  7. Next season is going to suck also. Two years of roster churn and lets see what happens. McGee is immature, but could mature the next two years. Blatche is immature and most likely will benefit from getting shipped out (imho one contract too late). Crawford looks like he might be a decent shooter. Just like most of the other horrible teams in the league they are young. At least they have Wall. Can someone remind me what the Wizards got in exchange for Caron Butler and Haywood? It wouldn't be bad to have Haywood on the team still. Is Rashard Lewis done or will he be contributing next season? So here's the Wizards next year: Starting 5: John Wall Nick Young (assumes he stays via RFA) Rashard Lewis Booker* McGee* Jordon Crawford 'Dray Blatche Kevin Seraphin Rookie Rookie Journeyman Rookie Random Roster Filler Josh Howard (?) That's the reason I'm a Bullets fan! At least half of the roster has some what I'd call "random upside potential", Wall, Booker, Crawford, Seraphin (scared to write McGee in here because of the bookmark threat!). Best case scenario, look like the Clippers this year and in 2012-2013 look like the 76ers.
  8. With the lack of talent you pretty much have to keep McGee. I didn't realize how young he was as well, so maybe there is some help. They need to churn the lower half of the roster because as bad as McGee/Blatche are, their backups are worse. I saw McGee make a number of nice, strong, offensive moves. But Bookers looked more comfortable setting up in the block in the half-court. It seems like the Clippers focused on closing down the lanes in transition in the 2nd half which is pretty much Wall's offense. He need to work on his half-court offense too.
  9. I saw one call where he was in there with good position and his arm up, and Griffin bumps into it. Clipper announcers said something like "his arm hit blake's elbow". Wow; the half-court offense is so pathetic. McGee trying to set pick and rolls is horrible, plus he never seems to try to get into decent post position. Not to mention he has the temperament of a high-schooler. At least I see that he came out his Sophomore year, so I would actually give him a couple more years to become a bit more professional. Like every play he's flailing his arms at his teamates, and then when Wall passes him a nice lob he completely misses it.
  10. Halftime. There's other players who need to get rid of prior to Blatche and McGee from this team (Blatche didn't play). Whoever else was in there appeared lost on defense and offense. Booker and Seraphin have had very little impact on the game... at least McGee dunked the ball (and then had a stupid turnover, when it looked like he was trying to take off from the foul line?!). Watching Griffin, I wonder... is it that hard to develop a decent offensive game in the NBA as a big-man? They are showing this block on Wall by Griffin over and over...
  11. Cool, its on! John Wall doesn't have a backup? They took him out and it looked like Howard was running the point?! There's no one on the Wizards that has a mid-long range jump shot (NY hasn't been in since I've been watching). The Clippers announcers are going ga-ga over Wall and sound genuinely impressed... Watching this team try to run an offense is pathetic!
  12. Wow, they played the Clippers... maybe I'll be able to catch the late replay over here!
  13. Since when has Nick Young learned to shoot? Also, NBA.com is the best sports league site I've seen... okay I've only compared to NFL.com but the videos load up fast, without ads are high quality and nice.
  14. Why haven't the Wizards traded Blatche? I can't think of one guy playing on any Washington professional sports team over the past 5 years that is more frustrating. I don't know why GMs love certain players. I know EG is afraid that he's got that Jermaine O'Neal career arc going, and if we "give up" on Blatche and he goes somewhere else Grunfeld will look like an idiot. But watching this high-schooler with talent try to grow up and mature into a professional sucks... and sometimes a change of uniform is good.
  15. Daniel Benoit had Xanax in his system, which police believe was administered by Chris to put him to sleep before killing him. There was no evidence of what substances may have been injected into his arm from the needle marks evident. - wrestlingobserver.com
  16. Ahahaha... Who Del... so you're drawn back to the WWE due to the Benoit situation? Me too a bit.
  17. Are they doing a brain scan to look into possible brain damage?
  18. Seriously. It must've been someone who made the call to cancel Benoit... and Benoit must've told them that his wife passed away and he couldn't make it... that's the only explanation... Greta Van Sustern went off about how, "maybe it was a triple murder..." comon... the text messages and all the evidence clearly point to murder suicide. It just means he probably used his wife's death as an excuse.
  19. All of the major news channels are over this... especially the Wikipedia entry. I'd guess he told someone in the WWE that his wife had died, and he couldn't make it. But wow... Foxnews has just been hitting WWE for the past hour... steroids abuse, domestic violence, medication abuse... not that its any surprise to people who pay attention to what's going on... but still... they got an interview with Steve Austin's ex-wife... FoxNews is even saying they injected him with HGH... although it seems more like they were treating him for that other thing. They've just spent like 15 minutes on Benoit....
  20. WWE seems like they are withholding some information. I heard Cowherd go after them yesterday, which made me pretty pissed. I think most young men watched wrestling at some point in their lives.... especially those who lived through the Monday Night wars... Back when I was younger I didn't know it was fake (well, when I first watched it). Of course now they are losing the market to video games and other things, but I think in the 80s, the WWF ruled the day...
  21. It's not like the WWE didn't pull a 180 tonight... so I don't think the tribute was bad, in fact I thought it was and still think its the classy thing to do... especially for other wrestlers who are probably still greiving... despite Benoit's hands being the cause of all this.
  22. Just read this on TMZ... - Chris Benoit sent a series of text messages to WWE co-workers, some from his dead wife's cell phone. According to WWE.com, all five text messages were sent between 3:53 AM and 3:58 AM on June 24. He then committed suicide. - The messages revealed that Benoit distributed information on where to find his remains, and the enclosed location of his attack dogs.
  23. I was flipping through the channels at a hotel last night (like I always do on travel) and caught the WWE tribute show. I don't think there's any way the WWE knew that Benoit was responsible... I still think the story is really bizzare, but I'd have to say the drugs, but more so the concussion link probably made him crazy and something just snappede in his brain. I can't imagine killing your 7-year old son. I 100% agree with the tribute show... hell, I know wrestlers are professionals and all (and continued after Owen Hart's accident), but I can't imagine them feeling like doing much work the day they learn a good friend and co-worker is gone. I was touched by the tribute (before knowing the facts), although it's all gone south... especially when The King talked about going to your family and telling them how much you love them. One of my favorite moments in WWF was when Edge and Christian were adding lyricst o wrestler's entrance musics, and they did Benoit... "Chris Benoit is here and he's really mad... Chris Benoit is here and he's really ang-ry... Here it is in full the Chris Benoit Song" I wish the WWE would scrap storylines and just do wrestling for awhile.
  24. There's Shane McMahon.... now they have Kane McMahon!
