  1. I believe what he said is accurate. Basketball is about fundamentals, play execution, and simple I.Q., which are all visible immediately. Player tendencies settle in quickly. The Heat are veterans. The Wizards are young and unproven with bad habits/issues that need to be corrected immediately. I really like Gortat and he appears to fit in well. More moves still need to be made to fine tune the roster but I don't see EG fleecing anyone any time soon.
  2. Gravity...glorious. Magnificent. Very tense, edge of your seat with a subtle dash of minimal comic relief. In a way, I feel exhausted, tired three hours after I saw it. Clooney nearly stole the show, imo. I absolutely loved his wise yet wise-cracking, father-figure role. However, I have a brand new sense of respect for Sandra Bullock. It's not very often you can watch a film and an actor/actress and completely forget WHO you are watching. She truly became someone else. And for the record, Alfonso Cuaron and Neill Blomkamp now own science fiction.
  3. Awesome! Another convert! There are soooo many good scenes in that. Betty's first audition was just "wow", the theatre scene had me floored, and the entire Billy Ray Cyrus scene was hilarious. If you want a brilliant scene, check out David Lynch's film "Wild At Heart". There is a part where Willem Dafoe is making a move on a girl in an apartment...it was insane. Oh and check out his film "Inland Empire" too lol. There is a street scene toward the end that will warp your brain. Anyway, my latest film was Expendables 2. So cheesy and yet so much fun.
  4. Oh yes. I've always been a huge fan of Emeka. I believe he graduated in three years from UConn with a crazy high GPA.
  5. This is a great trade for the Wiz. Nene, Okafor and Seraphin is solid up front. Now if they could trade down for Portland's two first rounders and pick up Jeremy Lamb and maybe Kendall Marshall, that would be amazing.
  6. Ok, what is the curse of les bulez? I don't know of or remember any curse or rumor. Was it the choice of moving Webber over Howard?
  7. Pretty much. Wall is very talented, but not basketball smart and lacks some fundamental skills.
  8. I will not mourn his death. Hopefully a "new" and better nation for the North Korean people can be born.
  9. I was really hoping for Kanter, but there was no way he would fall past Utah and then Toronto.
  10. The new jerserys are pretty sweet, a huge upgrade. I love both of the secondary logos (the DC and the one with just the red, white, and blue ball). I think those should have been the primaries, or at least taken the new ball logo and developed it more to become the primary.
  11. Portland appears to be willing to deal Marcus Camby. He would be the ideal vet to teach McGee. Maybe trade something like Blatche, Thornton and Young for Camby, Rudy Fernandez, Luke Babbit and a second rounder....sign me up. And for some reason I'll get blasted for including Young. He is as one-dimensional as they come with a low basketball IQ and right now his stock will never be higher.
  12. I agree with you man. Something is seriously wrong with that staff. Is his injury right on his heel? I didn't think tendinitis and a bone bruise symptoms were that similar.
  13. Dammit, I don't think I'll get to see the game now (I have Metrocast, which sucks).
  14. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/13022296/ Arrested for disobeying police in Florida. The situation and arrest alone is enough to show his character and decision making, which was revealed. This was four years ago and Arenas has not changed since, which has been proven, Brought guns into a locker room (a place of employment, and a public place). We all know the story and the illegal actions and poor judgement that he had. While having a chance to hold back and utilize common sense during the ensuing investigation, he continued his antics by "shooting" his teammates. He faked an injury, lied to his coaches, then told the media before even telling the coaches. Um, if I lied to my bosses' face and then proceeding to get on our intercom and broadcast what I lied about...well, it's not hard to figure out.
  15. Gilbert has continually shown deep-seated morality and character issues. In real life, people committing actions as he has are fired from their job. I don't know if it was your intention, but you directly connected "true Washingtonian sports fans" to mindless, blind homers. Some of us are capable of critically analyzing situations and the status of a roster or franchise. The franchise is looking up...a new owner, a solid coach, and some young talent. We can also acknowledge the existence of a poor GM and several players that are not that good (Nick Young, Stevenson the last couple seasons) or lack positive character traits (Arenas, Blatche).
  16. Did you see the other camera angles? You may understand Joyce's mid-motion reversal then. And his foot wasn't down immediately, it came down toward the back of the bag, the far side edge of the runner, and by then it was bang-bang with the ball moving all over the place in the glove (that's what Joyce saw from his angle, the ball didn't stop until after the runner hit the bag). But anyway, I was under the impression that the edge went to the runner in close calls at first base regardless.
  17. If this call was in the first, or second or even 5th inning, this would be a non-issue sadly. The ball juggled and his foot still hovered over the bag for a split second on a bang bang play. The ball moving around is what caused Joyce to change his call (he started to motion out until the movement). Is this going to turn into a flame war of who has worse officiating btw? I think the NFL and NBA officials have baseball beat with their infamous tendency of make-up calls to cancel-out bad ones, lol. Not even close.
  18. Man, growing up he was my favorite player in baseball...collected all his cards, posters all over my room. Him and Cal, and that was it. It's sad to see him go, but it is his time honestly. Without a doubt he would have been the all-time HR leader. He had 630 and missed the equivalent of three full seasons while with the Reds alone.
  19. Dontrelle Willis traded to D-Backs for unnamed player(s) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5240461 So, what did happen to Dontrelle? His first four seasons were darn good, great era and had 22 wins one season. Once he hit the AL, or at least Detroit, he fell apart.
  20. Here's me, best pics I could come up with due to a crappy camera...wearing my O's cap: and..
  21. Hahahaha, omg. that's a classic  I'm almost in tears
