  1. I don't think its unreasonable to think that Peters may have loved Maye at the end of the season, but once he got to dive into Daniels(and I guess McCarthy) tape more he pivoted. Remember he emphasized how much he didn't really look at the QBs in that much detail when he was still with the 49ers.
  2. Daniels-Starting QB obviously. Hopefully 10+ year starter that can make All Pros and win an MVP or two. Newton-Currently rotational DT. Eventual starter replacing Allen probably. Well above average if not Pro Bowl caliber player. Will be our best defensive player by the end of his rookie deal. Sinnot-Current backup TE. Will be full time starter by mid season if not 2025 at the latest. Quality starter who makes a few Pro Bowls. Think Cooley 2.0. Sainristil-Will man Nickel/slot for the next decade and be the best at that position. Coleman-Currently developmental player. Hopefully eventual long term average at least starting LT. Could end up playing LG early too. McCaffery-Will end up being the #3 WR after camp and be a reliable weapon in the slot and gadget/trick plays. Rest are roster filler/ST guys.
  3. My hope is that that's why he played with so much reckless abandon, because he knew he had to score TDs on every drive. Hopefully he wont be in that same situation here and can play more carefully/play the long game more. Its a point Cooley made when reviewing him.
  4. Most people were reporting there was a big drop off after around 65 or so, so it was real good to juice our pick in the 70s to 53.
  5. I'd imagine Harris will happily spring for whatever state of the art VR system Daniels or anyone else needs.
  6. I honestly think its more bad writing/bad script than bad acting, but that's a different discussion for a different day.
  7. I wanna see how a healthy McLaurin bounces back. He was clearly playing hurt from the beginning of last year. He may not be elite but he's damn good and reliable. Dotson was in EB's doghouse from day one for whatever reason. We saw more passes schemed up for the likes of Cole Turner and Jamison Crowder than we did for Dotson. Admittedly he did have some really terrible drops too, but I think a new scheme is gonna do wonders for him. I mean even under garbage Scotty Turner he looked fantastic as a rook.
  8. So you'd take a lesser player over a better one because of short term need? I'll take a Pro Bowl caliber player at one position over an average player at another position. But hey, I wanna compete for Super Bowls, not try to win 8 games in 2024.
  9. Who is to say we didn't try to trade down? Maybe nobody offered enough value to justify giving up on such a talent? People always like to shout "WE SHOULD HAVE TRADED DOWN", but it takes two to tango. We also tried to trade up for a T, but couldn't make a good deal. You can't point a gun at anyone and force a trade. I don't believe in making trades just for the sake of making a trade. You want to maximize your assets. We ended up trading down from 40 using your exact logic and got great value. Its likely we wanted to do the same at 36 but didn't get the value we wanted to justify passing up on a highly regarded talent.
  10. Feels good to sweep the Fish. For whatever reason it always seems like we struggle down in Miami even when we had really strong teams.
  11. If we like Sainstril more than Dejean and felt like we could trade down and still get him, that's pretty damn good.
  12. No guarantee Daniels is the starter to open the season. That's why I think any nationally televised game outside of TNF will be later in the year so it can be flexed out in case Daniels isn't the starter(or ends up sucking).
  13. If you can't get excited about a #2 overall pick blue chip QB with some incredible traits, then...I don't know. Maybe go find another hobby. And this is coming from someone who was as anti JD5 as anyone. Embrace the future.
  14. You do know that one of Daniels's strengths is going through progressions right?
  15. Yep I agree. I always go back to the Ravens with Lamar Jackson. They showed one of those behind the scenes draft day videos when they took Jackson and it was awesome how EVERYONE was all in on him from the get go. It wasn't the owner wanting a guy the coach didn't want, or the coach wanting one guy but the GM/owner taking someone else etc. Our organizational infrastructure is solid and sound and right for QB development for the first time since Beathard/Gibbs. Does that guarantee anything? Of course not. But for the first time in over 30 years, there's a chance. Ultimately that's all you can ask for. I think next year is the year we really get aggressive and go out and get some legitimate weapons. Its usually year 2 or 3 when teams go out and get their young QB that weapon. Bills got Diggs for Allen before year 3. Ditto Hill for Tua. But the Texans got Diggs before year 2.
  16. Love that he'll only be 22 at the start of the season. He could be a real good one in a year or two.
  17. Holy crap that 2nd throw in the Orlovsky video. I can see Daniels to McLaurin absolutely abusing teams with that.
  18. I think he'll fill a lot of what Samuel did last year. I wanna see him do some fun stuff out of the backfield. Could even see some trick plays since he has experience as a QB.
  19. Still bums me out that the Chiefs took Saumatia just a few picks before, but Coleman has some potential. I think you gotta try him at T first and if it doesn't work, then you kick him inside.
  20. We'll get one Thursday Night game as everyone in the league does. My guess is either the Baltimore or Chicago game will be MNF, but a late season one that can be flexed out in case Daniels(and/or Williams in Chicago's case) doesn't live up to the hype early on.
  21. Need plays a factor, but the point is you don't pass up on super talented players to get a guy who might only end up being average because he fills a short term need. At the end of the day, rosters fluctuate quite a bit in the NFL and a position that looks strong one year can be a dire need in 2 years. E.g. the Eagles didn't need a DT when they took Jalen Carter last year, but he was just too talented to pass up. Now Fletcher Cox has retired and Carter can slide right in as full time starter perfectly.
  22. What I really liked about this draft is that there are no WTF picks. No Phidarian Mathis or trading up for long snapper type moves. No stiffs like Ryan Anderson. We got players that look the part that at least garnered legit pre draft attention and hype.
  23. The reality is: MOST O Lines in the league are bad. You talk to fans of every team and almost every single one of them will tell you how much their OL sucks. I think the only fan bases happy with their OL are the Lions, Chiefs, and Eagles. Maybe the Ravens and Texans also. OL play around the league sucks. Our OL is below average but I scheme, playcalling, and an inexperienced QB who had a historically bad sack rate in college made them look worse then they are. There is no chance they look that bad again this year with an upgraded interior, what should be better playcalling(I can't imagine anything worse), and a QB that is much faster at processing and with a quicker release(who is also a legit run threat, which will change the way Ds attack us).
  24. Hes not the athlete La Porta is. La Porta gets open way more. I like Sinnot but do think we took him a wee bit early. Its nit picky though and ultimately I think we got a good football player.
