  1. I've seen almost all of the Oscar nominated movies: The Big Short - really good, great acting: A- The Revenant - also really good and some very good acting, deserves best Director win imo: A- Bridge of Spies - good and entertaining, Hanks is Hanks (as expected)...probably not worthy of Best Picture win, though (does have a bit of an uplifing feel at the end): B+ Mad Max - very entertaining and great cinematography; Charlize Theron is the best part of the movie, best acting (Max is barely a character in the film lol)...not worthy of winning Best Picture, though, imo: B Room - Brie Larson is VERY good, movie is rather tense in parts...good flick overall. Not worthy of the win, though: B Brooklyn - haven't seen it yet The Martian - Entertaining but Damon is the only good performance in the film; too many flaws to be worth Best Picture win (I 'splained why above): B- Spotlight - haven't seen it yet
  2. Last movie I saw was... Some Douchebag's Film Starring: God's Perfect Idiot A Hot Chick A British Villain The Comic Relief A Moody Teen A CGI Character A Gratuitous Cameo Thoroughly enjoyed it, funny from beginning to the very last frame...B+
  3. This is obviously meant for laughs and not to be serious, but still lol... (Spoilers of course)
  4. The Martian - B- Spoilers: A bit overrated imo. And some questionable casting to boot. Jessica Chastain--who I've crushed over for years now--doesn't belong in the role they gave her. She's barely believable. At one point the script has her saying (and I'm being serious here), "Whoa, slow down, cowboy". It's a cliche' line and she reads it as if she's literally looking at the script while doing so lol...and the entire crew seems like they're all good looking 30 year olds. I barely believed any of them had the gravitas to be hurling around in space together. Kristin Wiig is wasted in her role, and not very good (Chastain would have been better in that role actually). Donald Glover's "eccentric genius" role is less humorous than it is laughable and cringeworthy--he's trying waaaaay too hard to be eccentric. And surprisingly enough, considering it was his genius that came up with the idea that saves Damon's stranded astronaut, the movie doesn't even show Glover's character when the news is relayed that his idea worked and they've saved Matt Damon. We get every other character's reaction but Glover is nowhere to be found. Matt Damon is easily the best of the lot, but the movie makes a mistake by having him being more like a YouTube personality than an astronaut/scientist suddenly finding himself stuck alone on Mars. That might have worked at the beginning but it would have been far more powerful and effective to see his "YouTube host" delivery gradually dissolve into one of bare human emotion of fear and dispair as the realization starts to set in that he will end up like a modern Major Tom and die alone in space. But that really doesn't happen. No matter how many days (or "sols") have passed, Damon acts like it's just been 10 days that have gone by. It was entertaining enough, though, and the whole Love Train montage at the end was gratifying, so it gets a B- from me.
  5. I doubt many losing teams look like they're about to make a run before they do indeed make a run, though lol...The Panthers sure as hell didn't last year before they started their run, whidh I assume was the point of the comparison. Paloffs is Now, not Here lol...
  6. Just started watching House Of Csrds (halfway through the 2nd season)...this is some diabolical ****! lol
  7. Paper Moon is fantastic. Touching, funny as hell, well acted. As for Cybil Shepherd, just google "Cybil Shepherd Sexy" and there will be all kinds of nice stuff to feast on lol...
  8. Dear Zachary: A Letter To A Son About His Father This is one devastating movie. It punches you in the gut several times...It's also rather funny at times and extremely easy to watch. Guy is killed, and one of his friends makes a documentary about him to give to the guy's son Zachary (who was born after his death) so that, when he got older, he would know who his father really was. That's as much as I'll say in case you've never heard of the film.
  9. I'll ask you what I asked Hostile when he said the same thing on CZ...how does going from 10-6 to 11-5 equal "improving by 2-3 games?"
  10. I think it's due to Lee's style of play...
  11. That's because anyone who does could get banned temporarily.
  12. Does this mean we get to call him "Sean Knee" now?

  14. YES HE DID!! lol ...there was an ache in watching him feeling so alone and helpless when he was worried he was losing his mind like his mother did around his age...like he didn't know what the hell to do. ...Just sad... The movie Donnie Darko was similar to Take Shelter in obvious ways, and I thought Jake Gyllenhaal did a phenomenal job as well, worthy of Oscar consideration. Jessica Chastain (Take Shelter) and Mary McDonnell (Donnie Darko) both deserved consideration for their acting as well.
  15. Wasn't that movie good? lol ...I listed it on this thread as well. Question about the ending (spoilers, in ninja): Ok, so was the guy actually nuts and the ending showed him slipping back into his psychosis again, this time including his wife and child in his mind?...Or was the freakish storm actually approaching them on the beach, complete with one serious tidal wave? I've heard both lol...that the "storm" approaching at the end was symbolism for impending sanity finally taking over completely, as well as he was never crazy and his visions were prophetic.
  16. Then if you can find it, see this one: True story about the Snowtown murders in Australia. Snowtown is a small, depressing town in Australia, and a guy there ended up killing a bunch of people with the help of a few friends and his quasi-adopted son (who is shown in the poster). Trailer:
  17. Wild Bill Man gets out of prison after spending 8 years locked up, tries finding his wife but she took off and is in Spain...but she left their two boys alone back in England. Father doesn't want to become a father, kids don't want him around, social services threatens to put the two boys in foster homes if Bill doesn't stay. Unfortunately, Bill's nefarious criminal past and his sons' current lives end up overlapping unexpectedly. Fortunately, you find out why they call him Wild Bill lol... Very entertaining, VERY funny in parts (a lot of parts, actually)...great music throughout. And the guy who plays Wild Bill is excellent. Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyquUziG0SA
  18. I had found it online...just tried to find it again (can't remember where I saw it before), but came up empty. ---------- Post added June-25th-2012 at 11:46 AM ---------- My last movie: Alexandra's Project Plot: woman decides to give her husband a "special" birthday gift...this is one ****ed-up movie lol  It's described as a psychosexual thriller...that's a pretty good category to put it in. The ending made me want to punch my television lol...it was a GOOD ending, it just bothered me, I guess. Great acting throughout, and there were quite a few clues given out early in the movie, but done in such a subtle manner that they're easy to overlook at first. Trailer:
