  1. I'm surprised to see extra seat offers so early in the offseason. I gather there are still plenty of vacancies in the lower level.

My guess is the price increase encouraged people to downsize the number of seats they had and others to just give up their tickets.

I'm assuming he reupped at the ticket office which may be offering STHs available seats near theirs if they want them.

    ---------- Post added April-3rd-2013 at 06:56 PM ----------

I got offered extra tickets to add for my lower level seats ? My buddy actually added 2 more so now he has 6 lower levels did any one else experience this when renewing ? How ever regular green parking they could not give ?

Are those six seats all together? If so, you realize having six seats together makes it much much harder to move anywhere let alone the home side.

  2. The only thing I would consider a negative is you are by the tunnel down there and that's kinda nice, you would be giving that up. Other than that they are pretty much the same.

Thanks. Tunnel is not a big deal. That damn blowup helmet blocks the view of the player introductions. Halftime and end of game is OK I guess.

Maybe, we'll be neighbors this season.

  3. I went up to the ticket office at FedEx today and paid my invoice, they also let me add two seats and they said they could guarantee they would be in my same section(236) and they would get as close as possible. Also when the upgrade process starts I can try to move them closer then too. I tried to add another plain Green parking, no dice, only B3 was for sale.

Hey HOF, I sit in section 207 opposite from you at the other end of the home field sideline. I am considering flopping over to your side of the field so I can be closer to my parking space coming through the Comcast gate. Any negatives you can think of being on that end of the field that I should consider? Thanks.

  4. Got an email from the TO for the Colts preseason game. Lower level seating with Green B3 parking available now. Makes me wonder if Green B3 parking will be available on a single game basis all year.

OR maybe lower level seats will be available on a single game basis? :D

Wonder if these are just the team/media returns or something else....

  5. Is B3 new for this year? I've never seen this lot before and it seems very undesirable. Anyone got any background information?

It's been around forever. It has been very underutilized by fans. I believe they used it for some employee parking over the past year or two. This year, they tried to move all fans from the gray lot to Green B3 and are reportedly moving employees to the gray lot. Although, a couple STHs reported they were able to call the TO and convince them to let them stay in the gray lot.

The biggest problem with the B3 lot is that you can ONLY park in Green B3. You will not be allowed to park in just any Green lot. But anyone with a Green parking pass can park in B3. Lots of space for tailgating. You would leave via Morgan Blvd which is the least used entry/exit to FedEx Field.

  6. RE Requiring a signature. I know that UPS policy left it to the discretion of the driver whether to leave a package at the door or insist on a signature based on how secure the package would be. UPS, being company drivers, if there was a package stolen or lost, UPS stood behind the cost. FedEX was at one time mostly made up of contract drivers so the drivers were generally held liable for lost packages. Now this was over five years ago; not sure if this still holds true. My tickets were left on the porch and no one signed for them (contrary to my earlier post). The billing label says nothing about a required signature. And no email confirmation as of midnight.

  7. it is

    but shhh

thats my route. don't blow it up. i enjoy flying by the people on the WW bridge at 60 while they sit there going 10-20 in stop/go traffic. last year it took us an hour and 15 minutes to get from the stadium to our house past manassas, VA. add another 10 minutes for walking down the ramp because we were in the upper level.

    :)

    oops. :silly:

  8. You need to consider your exit strategy also. I have heard some say they go through the light at Morgan Blvd and Rt 214 and connect to the Beltway at a different exit....not sure of the route.

I leave by turning right on 214 and head towards DC to get on 295 north to PA. Almost no traffic. Maybe taking 295 south towards VA would be faster.

Look at a map and figure out your fastest getaway. Anything dumping you on the beltway near the stadium is going to be a crawl.

  9. I will see your rhetorical question - which you seem to answer every single one of my posts with - and raise you one.

Why do you always assume I'm being negative? There is NOTHING negative in my post. At $29, I think those SRO tickets - as crappy as they are - are a good deal, and I clearly stated I'M SURPRISED that they aren't selling.

Bonus rhetorical question: Do you read all my posts, and if so, can you really not find any that don't contain "negative assumptions?" And if not, would like me to provide you with some, so that you can see I do not always assume negative things about our beloved Redskins?

Bonus bonus rhetorical question: Is there any way I can get you to stop asking me rhetorical questions all the time?

Well, let's look at the FULL quote I responded to.

They've been pushing these really hard for a month. Kind of surprised but sounds like they are having trouble moving them. As cheap as they are I guess people like having seats. I wonder if they will open these Sales up to the general public. Or have they already done this?

"Pushing these really hard for a month"......based on what? A single email sent to some STHs? I'm a STH and I never got the email. So how many were contacted? You follow this assumption up with you are "surprised" "they are having trouble moving them." Your proof? Exactly how do you know they are having trouble selling the tickets? You ASSUME they are having trouble with no facts to back up your assumption. You have assumed there is a problem with no proof. Sounds negative to me.

I do not read all your posts....just those in threads I read. Your posts are regularly critical of anything Dan Snyder or the Redskins do. You cannot with a straight face tell me that you often complement Snyder or the Skins. Even in your response to me you describe the SROs as "crappy". In your original post, you never said they were "a good deal". I would not want them either, but I can see people shelling out $29 to watch the Cowboys or Eagles or Giants. Lots of Skins fans post on ES all the time they want to stand all game long....here's their chance.

I admit this was not a very negative post as compared to many of your posts. I suppose it was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

A year or so ago, I blocked your posts because of your excessive negative posts that irritated me. I unblocked you a few months ago. I guess I should go back to blocking your posts. I've been a member of ES for over 8 years and only ever blocked one person....you. Let's also remember the mods have warned you and taken away your thread starting rights in the past. So you have a history and reputation for negative posting.

So, if I don't respond to any of your posts in the future, it was to avoid the aggravation for both of us. I read this message board because of my passion for the Redskins. Not to be brought down.

  10. We signed up for the automatic upgrade option and they moved us up from row 17 to row 14 and over a section so that we are technically sideline not endzone any more an it cost us $1200 more for 4 tickets. Absolutely ridiculous when i can spit from my old seats to my new ones. At least I should have been offered lower level tickets or something instead for what we had to pay!

Yep. Price goes up in row 15. But it is just $300 more per seat. You have to know what you are getting into before you agree to an upgrade

  11. I think SRO will sell well for big games (read: prime time, or division games, or when a big opponent comes like the steelers)

they'll probably be mostly empty otherwise.

I just don't think anyone is going to pay full price for them. upper level seats sell for 29$ in the parking lot, why would you buy SRO for that?

if i had more friends who went on a regular basis I'd pick up a 2 or 3 to tack onto my season ticket package. but i don't. hopefully that'll change (hopefully the team will get better)

I think most SRO ticket sales will be for individual games and not as season tickets.

  12. They've been pushing these really hard for a month. Kind of surprised but sounds like they are having trouble moving them. As cheap as they are I guess people like having seats. I wonder if they will open these Sales up to the general public. Or have they already done this?

What makes you think they are having trouble moving the SRO tickets? The email they sent out a month ago was to STHs. STHs got first shot but they are least likely to buy the tickets because they have seats. Now it sounds like they may be opening it up to anyone. I am not aware of any advertising other than the STH email. How is that "pushing hard"? Why do you always have to assume the negative on every thing the Redskins do?

  13. CrazyLevi is more than anti-snyder, he goes through the process of over blowing things and assigning blame to snyder when he's not to blame. I wont go as far as he makes things up, I think he just over exaggerates and falsely assigns blame.

SonnyAndSam isn't an apologist for snyder. He just corrects people when they get the facts wrong, or gloss over important details. I can see how people who hate snyder think he's an apologist, but I've yet to see him not accurately assign blame to Snyder when he deserves it.

Go read SonnyAndSam's posts. You'll understand what I'm saying. I believe I take the same stance that SonnyAndSam takes when it comes to all things Snyder - The man has screwed up so many times, and done so many awful things, that there's no need to make **** up or blame him for other's actions to further criticize him. There are plenty of valid reasons to hate him or to criticize him that to make up things is just pathetic and piling on at this point.

If you can't handle being corrected by others, then maybe you should spend some time making sure you have your facts right before you post.

Thank you for the support. It's appreciated.

Snyder and his organization have done some pretty dumb **** during his ownership reign. But using "alleged" expired peanuts purchased by a concessionaire is just one example of the silly petty false criticisms that some people bring up. Better to stick to the real mistakes like Cerrato, obstructed view seating, firing Shottenheimer, playing GM, etc. And let's also remember the good things he has done as an owner....plowing revenue back into the players, coaches, and FedEx Field, creation of the Redskins Charitable Foundation, his own donations of millions of dollars to hospitals and charities, and customer service changes over the past 3-4 years, not to mention no increase in ticket or parking fees for 7 (8?) years.

Snyder certainly has not been a perfect owner...but he is also not the evil little man portrayed by Dave McKenna.

OK....off to the Outer Banks for vacation. Time to recharge for an exciting new year of the Washington Redskins. Let's hope this is finally the beginning of something sweet. I've been waiting ten years as a STH for things to turn around.......

  14. Crazy Levi thinks Snyder is a tool. Sonny and Sam is an avowed Snyder Apologist. We get it.

According to this survey by ESPN The Redskins ranked 112 out of 122 major league sports teams in the nation in giving back to the fans in exchange for all the time, money and emotion the fans invest in them. The categories are Bang For The Buck, Fan Relations, Ownership, Affordability, Stadium Experience, Players, Coaching and Title Track.

Whether you love Snyder or not, this is unacceptable.

    http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/teamrankings/_/category/stx

I object to the characterization you write about me as a Snyder apologist. I have been a severe critic of Snyder at times. I am not defending him as a misunderstood angel. He and his staff have made many many major mistakes both on the football and non-football side. However, I do object to the character assassination by people like Dave McKenna and even Crazy Levi who continually fail to give a balance critique of things that happen involving Snyder and the Redskins. I'm only saying Snyder is not the ONLY NFL owner who charges a lot of money for tickets, parking, concessions, etc. Several owners market the hell out of their teams (Jerry Jones, for an easy example). My point is simply that people fail to compare what Snyder and the Redskins do to the rest of the league. The grass simply is not greener in all 31 other NFL franchises. Many have gone overboard beating up Dan Snyder when there is a more middle of the road, and what I believe to be a more accurate portrayal than the typical internet dumping that occurs.

Trust me....go look at some of my posts in the past. I have been highly critical of how he ran things during his first 5-7 years in particular. He ran the franchise like his own little fantasy football team with no knowledge of how to do it. He brought in bad football and business people who screwed things up quite well. He's learned. He's brought in good football people...first Joe Gibbs and now Shanahan and Bruce Allen. I think Dave Donovan started turning things around a few years ago on the customer service side and things have continued to improve with Bruce Allen's input and whoever is running the non-football side now. Just sayin' Snyder is not the horrible hack that some portray him as.

  15. Three words dude: Expired airline peanuts.

Never wanting for twisting the facts are you Levi? But then that's what happens when you rely on David McKenna as your source. First, Dan Snyder did not buy the peanuts nor order them to be sold at FedEx Field. The Redskins had a contractor called CenterPlate that oversees the concessions at FedEx Field. CenterPlate stated the peanuts were bought from the same supplier used by Independence Air back in November 2005. And yes, Independence Air did go out of business. CenterPlate was told the peanuts had a shelf life of one year.. Peanuts were sold during the 2006 season. And perhaps a little known food fact is that a lot of food, including peanuts are still edible and tasty after the expiration date on the food. Normally, the expiration date refers to the date after which the food can no longer be sold. Food can and is eaten after the expiration date. BUT it is buyer beware.

Did anyone get sick? Were there massive/any complaints during the 2006 season? No. The only complaint I ever could find was the guy McKenna quoted in his article. And he did not complain the peanuts were rancid or tasted bad. He was just ticked that the Redskins sold him peanuts from Independence Air which had gone out of business.

Was it a smart thing for CenterPlate to cut corners on expenses? Probably not. Should the Redskins be micromanaging their contractor? But the insistence that Dan Snyder personally sold expired peanuts to fans is borderline ridiculous. But then it's always more fun to beat someone up than let the facts get in the way.

Let me add....there has clearly been mismanagement on the football and nonfootball side under Snyder's reign. Some really bad and a lot that have just been manipulated by guys like you and McKenna because you hate Dan Snyder. Over the past several years, things have improved on both sides.

  16. Well.... I used to have season tickets, and forfeited them (when I moved cross country for a year), then came back to them again.... so I don't know how that stacks up.

Well, whatever you are.....those are pretty sweet seats for people who enjoy the 50 yard line

    http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/13724733-418/49-for-bears-tailgate-parking.html

So a lot of folks complain about the $35 parking fee that Danny charges us. If you are a Bears fan, you get to pay $49 plus fees (taxes?) to park at Soldier Field this year. It's been $40 or more since 2006. The story also notes it costs $40 to park at Green Bay lots.

So I'm not defending $35 as reasonable; but like I've posted before, Danny does not charge as much as many other NFL teams. i.e. the grass is not always greener on the other side.

Many often charge Danny with being a greedy SOB who cares about nothing but money. Obviously, I don't agree with such an assessment. He spends lots of money on the team and coaches; he just hasn't spent it well in the past. And he has spent millions on improvements to FedEx Field over the years. He does not charge as much for tickets, parking, or even food and beverage as many other big market teams. He, as well as all the other owners, are businessmen. They are trying to make money on their investment. I don't begrudge him that. But I think it is only fair to recognize that revenue that he could have kept as profit has often been plowed back into the team and the stadium.

I agree that all of the above are overpriced. And many teams, including the Redskins, are finding out that during this prolonged economic slump that fans are staying home to watch rather than spend that kind of money on their favorite team, especially a team that has been losing for so many years.

I'll return you to your regular programming now.......;)

  17. Sweet.... Just got my seat assignments. Sec 401 row 5. SOOOOOO Pumped!

Are you a first season season ticket holder? And you got 50 yard line seats in row 5? Gonna be some pissed off fans in sections 401 and 402 who did not get upgraded. But congrats. Those are sweet seats for the upper deck!

  18. I'm also hoping that they've been working on a better exit strategy for the post-game rush. Not too familiar with the parking lots, as I normally park in my special spot off-site, but would that line of thinking be consistent with these changes?

As E33Green said, traffic has improved over the years. Leaving via Morgan Blvd is far better than using Redskins Road or Arena Blvd. And there are more parking attendants attempting to hold back pedestrian traffic so cars can go. But when you have than many people leaving all at once, it is simply a cluster ****....no way to water it down. Best solution is either a quick getaway if you sit on the lower level or to tailgate after the game. Driving towards DC and using 295 is the best way to avoid the Beltway traffic. Otherwise, there is really not a lot you can do if you want to stay until the end of the game. It is what it is....and is a similar problem at every NFL stadium.

JKC and his architects just did a horrible job of planning the parking and pedestrian access. The lack of mass transit closer to the stadium does not help either. For a stadium that size, pedestrian subways or overpasses would have helped enormously.

    ---------- Post added July-10th-2012 at 12:16 PM ----------

Just got this email. At least they communicated and let me know.

One more positive step forward for the TO. An email response about the lack of an upgrade shows they are getting more professional and willing to inform the fans....even if it is bad news.

  19. Is it me or does it seem like they are over selling the Green B lot? or is it that bad that they couldnt sell them? I asked for any parking pass last year (4th year STH) and they didnt give them to me. This year they are giving them to new STH people?

On that note... When is the Tracking Number watch! I am ready to get my tickets!

People have reported that the TO is saying the employees who used to park in Green B lot are being shipped out to the Gray lot to make room for season ticket holders. It may be full, but I highly doubt they would "oversell" the parking spaces. That would just be setting themselves up for huge headaches during the season and major criticism.

  20. LOL man, even before they started doing upgrades, I wrote the Redskins from the 2nd year after FedEx opened, and asked to be moved from 112 to the Redskins sidelines. So something like 10 years then gave up...then finally one day they called me and asked if I wanted seats in 103.. I was like does a bear **** in the woods? DUH! :ols:

p.s. I did check the box to be moved this year, but only to the 200 section near where my seats are now, but wont find out if that happened or not until I receive my tickets in the mail.. getting tired of standing almost the whole game because of morons that stand down low a lot

I think you have to blame Danny Boy as the moron who installed the Dream Seats that forces folks like you to stand because the people in the Dream Seats have to stand to see the damn field. I'm so happy about my move to 207 so I don't have to stand all game long. Now.....let's see if I ever move down the sideline.....

    ---------- Post added June-26th-2012 at 12:00 PM ----------

woohoo. what an upgrade i got.

I asked for LL upgrade and instead got moved down one row in 433 from 8 to 7. Called the TO and they said that they couldn't have even moved me over one section closer to midfield in the UL. Of course, when i was talking to the TO a few months earlier, they strongly insinuated a move to the lower level in return for prompt early payment. what a load of crap.

kicker is they automatically upgraded me to the Green B3 lot from the gray lot, so now i have to walk clear around the stadium to get to my seats.

oh well. still excited for the season to start!

If it was a couple months ago, that was before RG3 got drafted and raised every fan's hopes we might be competitive again. For the previous two years. lots of people did get upgraded. I wouldn't blame the TO. Blame all the fans who decided to keep their seats. TO agents can't predict the future.

  21. I had 3 seats in section 228 row 4 that I did not renew this year, so at least 3 opened up.

But that opens up to someone with a need for 3 seats. Skins are not going to fill 3 seats with someone who only wants 2 seats and leave a single. As I have said before, it's not as simple as some seats are opened. How many other STHs with greater seniority and a need for 3 seats are their in his section? So the question is did tke need 3 seats and if he did were there any other STHs in his section with greater seniority.

  22. Cameron -- you make valid points. Many people just assume they will be upgraded when a lot of things have to happen; most importantly, there have to be seats available for you to move into. And the sideline seats are the least likely seats to empty, particularly when the club signs a shiny new QB named RG3. TO agents sometimes over promise what they can deliver. Having worked in customer service, you want to be optimistic and positive when talking with your customers. And while the TO has improved dramatically over the past three years compared to what it used to be, they still have a way to go in the information they share and the consistency of the message.

But frankly, it's not just the customer service agents' fault. The customers (fans) have a responsibility to listen and not over interpret what they are being told. People may not want to hear this, but I take what I read from a bunch of strangers posting on a message board behind fake names with lots of grains of salt. People with long accurate posting histories get a lot more respect for their opinions and reports than folks who are new and have not achieved a level of credibility. There is no guaranteed upgrade. And it's easy to create stories about how the TO is screwing you over when you have absolutely no facts to back up your story. Seat space and seniority play a big role in getting upgrades. And none of us have that information regarding our own seats. Making statements that the TO is purposely screwing over the fans is simply a huge overreach IMHO.

As I have said before, the TO is getting better and I believe the Redskins in general are taking slow but steady steps to be more customer friendly. It's not perfect but its not that bad. Stuff we complain about is trivial compared to what some NFL fans face dealing with their teams. Grass is not always greener on the other side.

  23. I am unhappy with no upgrade this year.. also considering dropping my tickets next year. I have been a STH for 11 years now. My seats are in the 229 row 14 (Corner of the endzone). I don't understand how people are getting upgraded from the UL into the 100's but I was not moved forward at all.

I better not call the ticket office because if they make me the offer of a full refund, I might take them up on it.

And you are participating in the auto upgrade program? You've filled out the online form from your account and and provided your preferences for the past three years? If you have, then you should call the TO and find out why. It does seem odd that no seats have opened up in section 228 in three years. Ask to speak with the manager if you do not get reasonable answers from the agent who answers the phone. Getting angry is not going to solve your problem/issue.

Your complaint about people moving from the UL to the LL has little merit for your case. All those people are being placed in sections farther from the 50 yard line than yourself. Do you have a note saying an upgrade to the 100 level is OK? (If that is something you are willing to accept) Remember, the 200 sections have fewer seats and could mean fewer opportunities to open up for you. Ask the manager how many seats opened in section 228 this year and last year.

    Good luck
