  1. Well, my seats were in the removed section and they did not contact me because there were not comparable seats to switch me to as I was high up (Cheaper seats) but 50 yard line. Would that not be a better reason to contact me?

I guess I should have contacted them before my window came up but I waited my turn and now I am in 402. Anybody else there?

I should have been offered a drink token or something for the inconvenience of losing 50 yard line seats IMHO.

I'll still have a lot of fun at the games. You can't stop me Snyder!

Not that I agree with this, but I think the TO only contacts fans when there is a price increase. I think fans should be contacted and given choices whenever a forced move is made....

Just moved from 237 to 238.  From row 3 to row 4 so fully covered now but not back enough to feel caved in.

I did see a few more seats in 237 too.

Howdy neighbor! I'm in row 3, seats 15 & 16 in section 238 after my move.

  2. Obstructed view seats give the overhang a bad name.  It's really a great feature in the seats it was intended to cover.

Agreed. But some people like to be in the sun/air without concrete over their head. I like my row 3 because I have some protection and yet do not feel like I am in a cave; which is how some view sitting in rows 5-13. We all have our own priorities on what's important for the "perfect" seat to watch football. Some prefer to sit on their couch and watch the game. That's a poor second choice for me; but others like having their own private kitchen and toilet with no traffic to or from their couch.

  3. What row does the overhang start in the 200's. I don't wanna be under it.

About row 3 on the home side. You need to be in row 1 or 2 then.

I just upgrade from Section 433 row 4 seats 7,8 ti Section 231 Row 1 seats 11,12. Does anybody know anything about these seats? Its the first row of the section and I noticed there is a metal bar in front of us. Will this block our view?

    Thanks and HTTR

Shouldn't be a problem for an adult. Kids might have an issue. I never see anyone standing up in my sections because of the bar. Might be a slight impediment to your vision when the team is near your side line.

Ya I didn't want to be under the overhang. I hope its not a issue. My father and I are pretty tall both over 6"2. You would think the ticket office would tell you that theres a bar in your line of vision.

You will have no issues if you are 6'2". But I probably would not pick the first row just because it is in your line of sight, even though it won't block anything. The other plus is there is more leg room.

  4. That's a great tip and great idea. I'm in 237 now and have heard too many complaints about the 100-level to jump down there, even if it meant moving farther toward the 50. Do the complaints about standing hold true in those seats?

Oh yeah, fans pretty much stand from goal line to goal line on the home side. Not so much in the corners and not much at all in the end zones. That's why I moved to the 200 level plus being under cover and better sight lines. My hips and knee could not take standing all game long.

  5. People keep talking as if PSLs are a done deal for any new stadium, but I have to wonder - if the team is struggling now to sell season tickets to fans without PSLs attached, how do they expect to be able to add PSLs if and when a new stadium opens?  Sure, if the team is actually good, it'll probably be an easier sell, but if the team's still terrible, I can't see much demand for STs with PSLs attached.  I'm sure Snyder would love to sell PSLs to the fans, but the market is going to dictate that, not Snyder, and the market seems to be giving a firm thumbs down right now.

You may be right...and I HOPE you are. But it seems to be the way of the NFL these days. PSLs help finance the stadiums for billionaires to field their millionaire players while us everyday working folk are relegated to our HDTVs at home. It would be wonderful if Danny took JKC's approach...."I won't have no stinkin' seat licenses in my stadium!" (paraphrased) God I loved that man when he said that on one of the local TV networks. He just got it.

  6. I'm with romank. Nothing beats watching the Skins live. And while some insist they can buy tickets for every game at half value, it simply is not true for the Dallas and Philly games; certainly not in lower level seats. Seats in my section were going for double face value for those games last year. Hopefully, at some point the Skins will be a regular winning franchise and those low ticket prices and availability will disappear. At least that was my plan when I started with season tickets 13 years ago. The band wagon fans have pretty much disappeared. Only us die hard fans continue to buy season tickets. Who knows, maybe the Skins will never be a playoff contender. And I'm sure I will not ever be able to afford season tickets when the new stadium arrives with the PSLs. So now is my opportunity. It is my money and I choose to spend it on something that gives me great joy and entertainment value. If it is not for you, fine. But don't **** on us because we choose to pay for something we love and enjoy.

This past year, I moved to a section where I saw almost the same people every single game. My first game was a little bit of a shock because I watched as people greeted each other with hand shakes and hugs as they arrived in my section. Clearly people who had been sitting in section 237 in the previous year and longer. And all really great people. Almost never saw a visiting team fan all year. Now that was a change from my previous two years in section 207 at the other end of the home field side. LOTS of visiting team people and mostly different people game to game. Many of the seats were owned by internet ticket brokers I found out. I had just a handful of people there with me every week. So it does seem to vary some depending on your section.

I hated leaving section 237 this year to move up to section 238. My desire to get closer to mid field overrode my desire to be in a section with great fans. I am hoping this is true of each section as I get closer to mid field. More die-hard fans who regularly come to every game.

And as for the value of the pre-season games, I don't disagree one bit. But paying full price is common for almost every NFL team. It's not just a Redskins/Danny issue like some insist on making it.

  7. The RG3 playoff game, there were tons of tickets online for face value.

I don't get the whole mystic about keeping the tickets in the family?

You're right. And the 70,000+ of us with season tickets are wrong and stupid. Move along now.

  8. Sonnyandsam thanks I will look into that rt

You're welcome. The worst part is the merge onto 295 because you have to cross over 4-5 lanes of traffic to get into the far left lane for 295 north. Most of the time it is not too bad. But if there is a Nats game or United game or some other holiday thing going on in DC, it can be a lot of traffic to cross in front of to get to that far left lane. Just have to drive like a DC driver. I grew up in NOVA so my "instincts" just kick in. We don't typically drive like that in PA.....now do we? Heck, I see PA people line up in a single lane for a mile or two because the lanes are going to merge down to a single lane because of construction. Cars from other states fly by in the other lane while we line up first come first serve style. :)

  9. Sonny and Sam how are you coming home? I live in chambersburg and travel the same direction as you and turn left off of Morgan blvd towards 495. Would love to know a better route.

Turn right onto Central Avenue from Morgan Blvd. Few people turn right so the right lane moves quickly. Then turn right onto Southern Avenue. Turn left onto Eastern Avenue. Turn right onto RT 295. Take the Parkway to the RT 95/495 north exit. Then stay on 95 north to 695 to 83 north. Much much faster.

  10. So, I'm finally moving downstairs -- 218, row 10, 3 seats on the aisle closest to 219 (i.e. closer to the 50).  I hate to give up my seats in 427 row 3, but I think this will finally make it worth my while.  Has anyone sat in rows 9/10/11 of the 200s on visitor sideline?  I can't tell from the virtual view, but I hope the overhang isnt too claustrophobic feeling from row 10.  At least I know it won't block the jumbotron, and I'm glad to be on the side of the section closer to 219.  I also hope that all the people walking the aisle to/from the cave don't block my view too often during the game, but I guess that's the price of aisle seats for better or worse.

There are significant numbers of seats available in 218 and 225, including a really nice pair in 225 row 2, and a couple of pairs in 219 and 224! (unfortunately I needed three).  There are only scattered singles in the 100s on the sidelines (i didn't look at corners/endzone).  There are a few scattered singles in the 200s closer to the 50 but no pairs closer than 219/224 (and I think there are only 4 pairs total in those sections).  Still, as others have noted, this is way more availability than in previous seasons.

Any thoughts on these seats?  Looking forward to seeing you all downstairs.

Whoever gets my 3 seats in the middle of 427 row 3, enjoy, they're great seats, I've had them for a number of years.  Was just time for a change.

Good luck to all with upgrades.

I thought moving from the upper level to the lower level was a HUGE improvement. I know a lot of folks like their 40-40 yard line seats in the upper level. But I instantly felt more part of the game and excitement on the lower level even though I was in the end zone corner in the 100 level. I just felt more part of the game. The easier and faster exit from FedEx field was a big bonus. People have their own preferences but I love being on the lower level even if I am only on the goal line.

  11.

It all depends on which 200 section you're in and which row. Just because you're not in the cave doesn't mean its presence doesn't affect you :)

It also depends on you... it didn't bother me at all, but it bothered my wife and my buddy who went to all 8 games in those seats that year. It was part of the decision to move to the home side even though it put me directly opposite of where our tailgate parks and completely ruined our ability to get out of there fast.

Wasn't aware  of that issue in front of the obstructed view seats.

  12. Yeah aisle vs mid-row is kind of a personal preference.

Mid row means you're not bothered by people getting up and down - not only in your row but in the rows in front of you.

Being on the aisle means you get out of there very quickly when the game is over. Which, if you're in the lower level near where you park, means you can be on a major roadway headed home before most people are out of the stadium.

Best seats I ever had in terms of leaving were the last row in a 100 level section right next to the entrance to the stadium across from where we parked. No joke I'd be out 202 headed towards 50 before they'd throw the radio broadcast to Al Galdi for post game... that was in 2012, during the playoff run. It was incredible. I live about an hour and 10 minutes from the stadium with no traffic. I was getting home from games in an hour and 10 minutes.... was awesome.

I park in the handicapped lot right outside where my seats are located. So I am out and in my car while 90% of the (remaining) fans are still in the stadium. Even better I turn right from Morgan Blvd while everyone else is trying to turn left in the other 5 lanes. NO ONE goes towards DC. I have a back way to get on the George Washington Parkway and can eventually take that to Baltimore or get on 95 north where the traffic is normally moving 40-50 miles an hour on the Beltway before heading true north. I live in Harrisburg PA. I just love my new location. So much faster out of the stadium than when I was in the upper deck.

Our window just opened. We sit in 236. A pair opened up in 237, row 6. Not aisle, but the seats next to the aisle. I was scared to pull the trigger, as we love our current seats,(last row, middle), and hate to get up and down to accomodate those with weak bladders!

So my 2 seats in row 3 on the aisle in 237 disappeared quickly, huh?

     Nice move SonnyAndSam :)

Generally speaking, I think the 200 level is the best seating in the stadium. You're above the 100 level so you can sit, but you're still right there with the action. Think about it like this: the owners box is essentially in the same location (vertically) as the upper rows of the 200 section on the visitor's side, just below the 300 level. The owners box is supposed to be the best view... so.. you're pretty much opposite of the best view in the house, or at least what is supposed to be.

The only problem with the visitor's 200 level is the cave... the extra seats with obstructed/partial views. It's a stuffy/hot environment due to the lack of air flow. It's also quite loud and echos a lot. It also tends to attract a lot of fans of the visiting team, and some obnoxious people. This also adds to conession and bathrooms lik SaS said above.

How bad that is depends on the game, what section you're in, and who has the seats behind you. It also depends on your tolerance for things like that. I had no problem with my seats when they were over there, around the same location as yours. Some people I brought found it annoying.

But in terms of seeing the game, those seats area among the best in the stadium as far as I'm concerned. Upgrading to the 200 level was the best move I've ever made.

But he is in row ten so he is not in the cave. And there are no obstructions from his row. Just great seats.

  13. Just upgraded one section closer to the 50 on the home side. Went from section 237 to 238. Should be about on the goal line now. Gave up my aisle seat to move up one section. I had mixed feelings about the aisle seat. Gave me more room because I am a very big guy; but all the up and down was a pain in the ass plus some folks insisting on standing on the platform at the top of the steps.

Now locked out from viewing so can't say how many seats are available. Clicked on section 138 by accident first and saw a group of four and two and a few singles.

Selecting and checking out was quite easy. No increase in cost ....yet...next year it will go up if I move again.

A tip for those waiting for their window. If you've received the offer to buy additional seats, you can see what is available before your time comes using that link. I had scouted out a location last night and when I logged in this morning it looked like the same inventory so I was able to jump right on my choice when I could get in. Great upgrade.

So tell us where you were and where you are now!

We grabbed section 223 row 10. Any feedback? Looks like great seats. Only drawback I see is we are on the visitors side.

Great seats! Where did you move from? The only real drawback are the long lines for the bathrooms and food stands because of all the added seats behind you. And I guess you will have a lot more visiting team fans also. Seems to be fewer die hard Redskins STHs on the visitor side than on the home side. More likely to sell their tickets it seems.

  14. anything in the upper level available, first 7 rows?

Typically anyone with lower level seats will not be able to see the available seats in the upper deck because they are lower cost. Skins don't allow us to upgrade to lower cost seats unless you call the TO directly. So it would have to be someone who already has upper level seats.

Moved to 204 row 3!!! Two tickets are now open in 103 row 19, seats 7&8, well actually 7 8 and 9, I dropped seat 9 before last season, and noticed no one had bought it tonight, still! So if anyone is looking for 3 together on the Skins sideline they should be open and available.

Also there are tons of seats in the 200s on the visitors side of the field... almost pulled the trigger on some aisle seats but just couldnt give up Redskins sideline seats!

    p.s.

The only seats available at the time I moved were about half a dozen singles between 103 and 140, 103 is now the only section with any seats "together" , there werent any together besides in 204 in the 200s I just nabbed

Welcome to the 200  level!  Best  upgrade I ever made a few years ago. Based on what you are reporting, I guess I won't be moving towards mid field this year again when my time comes up tomorrow morning. Bummer. Don't want to move to the visitors side......

  15. hell yeah, just got moved to 205 row 4.

exactly what i wanted. there are 5 more seats available in that area btw.

the new system is a little different.... it works fine, but you have to go into each section to see available seats. I seem to remember a bigger view where you could see available seats ina ll the sections...

Damn! Nice seats. You'll love the 200 level. Congrats!

  16. The whole Redskins sideline stands most of the game, im in 103 row19 and HATE it, hope I can find something in the 200s behind me when I can upgrade so to speak

I missed this, you mean STANDING in 103 lol see my post above this one

True that. That is why I did everything I could to move to the 200 level before I turned the corner from the end zone. Danny screwed over tens of thousands of fans putting in his damn dream seats. The stadium was designed to let everyone sit and enjoy the game without being obstructed. Danny destroyed what JKC and the architects designed.

  17. Just so you all know, I contacted the ticket office today.  We asked for Larry Chu, however we were told he was on another call and then were called back by someone else.  She proceeded to tell us that "Seniority" is not longer transferred between family members.  I am not sure when the Redskins changed this policy however it is very disappointing.  I thought the whole point to having Redskins season tickets was to be able to passed them along to your family members to keep the "Legacy" alive.  It is a shame that is no longer the case.

Thanks to everyone for your help!

Well if that is a new policy, it sure as hell is not customer friendly like Bruce Allen was bragging about at his little mixer with STHs. He talked big about doing special things for longtime senior STHs. Oh well, I figure I'm done in a few years when Danny builds his shiny new stadium that only millionaires can afford the PSLs and seats. I feel bad for my son who is excited about inheriting my tickets. Not likely to happen.

May 27th at 4pm, blah!! wont be anything available to move, to where I want to im sure, im in 103 now

Yeah, yeah, yeah...**** and moan all you want. You're sitting in freaking Section 103. :D

  18. tshile, I have to agree with the others, I have always had my emails returned by the TO over the last several years. But I agree with you that something urgent should be addressed on the phone or in person. Emails can get lost or more typically a response is delayed because the folks in charge of the emails are overwhelmed especially during busy times. I used to work at a call center for a very prominent retailer and know this to be true.

Regarding seats being held back. Yes, the Redskins do hold seats. They need to have hundreds of extra seats for visiting teams and media for every game. That gives them some flexibility in trading seats during this time of the year to retain STHs or who have certain issues....such as the young child who could not see in the 100 level because everyone stands (sorry, I forget who posted that). In my case, two years ago, a TO agent was able to swap my seats on one end of the home side to the other end so I would be closer to the handicapped lot. I got a one section upgrade even though my "email request"  specifically said I was not looking for an upgrade, just closer to the handicapped lot. The TO agent called me with two seats that became available where I sit right now. That email was sent about 2 weeks before the ticket upgrade process. Folks have to understand that it is not as hard and fast situation that some want to make it out to be. Exceptions should and are made. Subjective decisions. As long as they are reasonable decisions, I don't have a problem.

And as I said in a previous post, there were less than .4% of the seats available at the time I looked at the lower level seating map. I just don't see any evidence of a wholesale number of people forfeiting their lower level seats. Maybe on the upper level. The fact that the upgrade window is so condensed suggests they do not have a lot of open seats. If they did, there would be more time for people to move around.

It will be interesting to see the seat map reports by tshile and others as their upgrade windows open. I am particularly interested in the upper deck seat maps and how many open seats there are.

Have not got any letter or email yet stating when my upgrade window is, ughh

Call the TO man....you know better. stuff happens.....especially with the Redskins ;)

Littleyog, I understand completely and agree with you, was just curious as to your location. As far as those aisle seats, been in mine for 5 years and one could easily make a case that they aren't "all that" but my wife is handicapped so we make the best of it.  Best of luck getting all this worked out with theTO.

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about my aisle seats. I hate the two women in my row who are constantly getting up during the game to get drinks, food and presumably going the bathroom since they drink so much. They always apologize but damn, my hips and knee are not what the used to be. But I do like the extra room the aisle affords me since I am a big guy.....You think Brandon Scherrf is big, you haven't seen me! He's taller but I outweigh him....

  19. Anyone have a better email address than the generic ticket office?  We get screwed ever year, tickets have been in the family for over 40 years, then yesterday we called since our date was June 1st and the person told us transition between family members doesn't matter and our date starts when our tickets where switched over.  I guess having tickets in your family for years means nothing to them.  I really hate how the Redskins treat their old season ticket holders.  It is really a shame!!!!

That sucks if that is their policy. But then I've read on Extremeskins how people kept the tickets in grandpa or great grandpa's name to avoid such issues that are caused by a transfer to a family member. I suggest you demand to speak with a manager, and remind him/her that Bruce Allen has made it a point to improve the Redskins relationship with its customers. And if you get no satisfaction, I would write a letter to Bruce Allen. Might not solve your problem this year but perhaps next year they will count the "family credit" for seniority.

  20. Got my upgrade email a couple hours ago. My date is May 29 at 10am. This is my 13th (14th?) year as a STH. Thought it would be a little earlier.

tshile....you must be an old timer. :D

Those without an email. Be patient. Most likely got sent out in order of seniority, lower level to upper level. But if you don't get one in a day or so,make sure the TO has a current email address. Call, don't email them. Mass email sendings can take a while to get through the internet and your ISP.

Great post S&S. Posts like this are what keep me coming back to ES to gain insight from STH's that are as passionate as I am.

I have two seats in 236 Row 4 and would love to do a straight upgrade to the two in front of you, S&S but unfortunately it is never that simple with this ticket office. I am torn between wanting to move closer down to the action and wanting to keep my current sight-lines (which I think are the best in the entire stadium) and the fact that the fans in front of me remain seated for the majority of the game unlike the 100 level sideline sections. I also want to remain in my current price tier which I believe is the lowest for non-obstructed view seats in the lower level.

Your welcome. I learned a lot from others when I first became a STH. Just trying to share the knowledge since the Redskins TO likes to hide behind the dark curtain.

By the way you can upgrade to section 238 and pay the same price you are paying now. The sideline seat price begins in section 239/139 on our side.

I used to sit in the 100 section...yes you are closer...but having to stand almost all game long on my old hips and knees was more than I could bear. The 200 level have the best site lines while balancing closeness to the action in the entire stadium. Being protected from the rain and snow is a big plus, too!

  21. So last night I got an email from the Redskins offering me to purchase additional seats that are near me. When we get such offers, they open the seat map on our account to purchase additional seats. There are two seats in front of me in row 2 on the aisle. My seats are in Section 237. I'm not buying the two in front of me. The two I have already cost me an arm and a leg. I have until May 19 to purchase additional seats.

So now I am going to burst the bubble on those of you who believe there is a mass number of people not renewing their seats. Yes, there is turnover every year. I've seen it each year. Every NFL team and every professional sports team has season ticket holders who do not renew. And yes, its worse after bad years than good years. Every team has bandwagon fans who are happy to spend their money when the team is doing well and winning games. But there are plenty of fools like me (I prefer being called a die hard fan) who continue to support their team in bad year after bad year.

So anyway....there are a few available seats in the 200 level along the home team side in the corner near the tunnels. A pair here or there but mostly single seats. Maybe about 10 seats in total. As you move into the end zones, there are more available seats. Some sections none or just a couple; other sections 10-15. Interestingly, there are a lot of 4-6 seats together that are empty. Again this is not unusual from previous years. This is how I and others moved down from the upper deck to the lower deck 13 years ago when they started to allow upgrades to the lower level and each year since. In fact, the  number available in the lower level is less than prior years in my opinion. The visitor side seats are almost completely filled. Once again there are a small handful of seats available in the corner opposite the tunnels. Interesting, there are almost no available seats in the corner near the visiting team tunnel.

On the 100 level, the seats are completely sold out along the sidelines. In the corners, there are a few isolated singles available. Again the end zone seats have more openings. About 20-25, again the number of 4 seat and 6 seat groupings seem highly over-represented. This may seem like a lot of seats until you realize that each section has about 5,850 seats. That equates to about a 0.4% or .004 available seats. Hardly a mass forfeiture of seats by fans as some of you insist. And these are just a few sections in the end zone. Sidelines are virtually sold out except for a few singles and an isolated pair of seats here and there.

My guess is the high number of large seats together may have been owned by ticket brokers who are unable to make big money any more on Redskins seats. Lower level seats can typically be bought for about face value a week or two before games; with the exception of visiting teams like the cowgirls or the pigeons.

Unfortunately, I have no information on available seats in the upper deck. Either they are all sold out (highly unlikely) or I am not permitted to buy additional seats in the upper deck because I have lower level seats. Maybe someone in the upperdeck who has an offer to add seats can report on how many upper deck seats are available. Would love to know how many seats are taken and available up there if someone wants to take a swing around all the sections in the stadium.

Same story with the club seats. Can't see the their availability.

As several have pointed out, the club is several weeks late starting the upgrade program. Any business is going to try to sell as many seats as they can. Skins are doing what they can to sell the most prized seats available in FedEx. I have no issues with that. But the conjecture that it is caused by huge numbers of fans not renewing is not supported by the facts. At least in the lower level.....

Also, the seat upgrade feature has been added to my account. It is not live, but it is there. So the seat upgrade process will likely start very soon.

    Hail!

  22. So the Redskins have started a Member referral program now to get more club seat buyers. I was on my ticket account online and came across this:

*Current member will receive a Redskins ticket account credit for each premium season seat purchased by referral. Credit of $250 shall be provided for each seat purchased for $2,999 or less for a single season. Credit of $500 shall be provided for each seat purchased for $3,000 or more for a single season. Note that it applies ONLY to Premium Account members. Interesting that they are paying a bounty and giving upgrades for people who find new premium account members. Pretty sweet deal if you know some rich people or businesses. But it also tells us that the Redskins are having great difficulty selling premium seats. The problem is not just isolated to the GA seats, primarily in the upper deck.

As for the seats available in the lower level that Chip found, I don't think that is that unusual. I know when I have gone online for my upgrades, there are dozens of seats available, mostly in the end zones. There remains plenty of people in the lower level who want to move towards the 50 and lots of people available to move down from the upper deck to the lower deck. The real problem is filling seats in the upper deck and the Club level. And with the Band moving back down to the lower level, there will be even fewer seats available for upgrades and for folks moving down from the upper level.

  23. I'm not sure tenure is a major impediment to the upgrade program. Most long term STHs should be in the seats they prefer. My problem with the auto upgrade program is that participants in the Touchdown club and tailgate club and premium members all get first crack at the seat upgrades regardless of seniority. Also, I think there remain many STHs that are ticket brokers who upgrade tickets. They may have seniority but they are not die hard fans. Those tickets get sold on the internet to whoever wants them including visiting team fans.
