This is kinda neat, but come on, two media types and only one former player and one former coach? The reason ManningCast works is because they have such a deep understanding of the nuances of the game that goes WAY beyond what a radio host and a beat writer have. What you really need is someone who is recently retired (so understands the current state of the game) and who had a knack for understanding what was going to happen before it happened. Nick Backstrom is almost too obvious, right? https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2024/04/01/capitals-wizards-alternate-broadcasts/

Whenever I'm researching laws in North Carolina, my brain reads them in Foghorn Leghorn's voice. -
LOL, the Post has a very long article today on how it all went wrong for Sweatervest. Some of it is below but it's paywalled. The upshot is he tried to be the CEO of Virginia and thought he could govern by fiat, and never seemed to grasp that, with a Democratic legislature, that didn't work. It also characterizes his legacy as "cloudy" which is weird for someone whose marquee accomplishments where to prohibit CRT from being taught in school (when CRT has never been taught in schools) and to bully trans kids. And as "A BUSINESS GUY" his resume includes a complete botch of the Monumental Arena deal, preventing Ford from building a huge factory in a part of VA desperate for jobs because CHINA something something, and failing to lure the new FBI HQ and it's 8,000 white collar jobs even though the FBI wanted to move to Virginia. Some people thought this guy could be President. https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/03/28/virginia-youngkin-wizards-arena-legacy/ Va. Gov. Youngkin arrived like a GOP star, but arena failure clouds legacy

UConn looks unstoppable.

No, you have this backwards. This is the same guy that added resources to increase suicide for trans kids.

Meh, not a concern for me.

I dunno. Zimm is certainly up there and you'll hear no arguments from me that he wasn't the face of the franchise due to his longevity and just who he is as a person. I love Zimm. But in terms of greatness, Scherzer vastly overshadows him. Zimm was one of the better third basemen during his prime and a 2 time all star. Scherzer is arguably the best pitcher of his generation and was an AS almost every year of his prime (8 times in 9 years, one year he was hurt and only made 12 starts). Most of his prime was with the Nats (see below). In terms of Scherzer v. Stras, I think it's Stras' moments versus Scherzer's consistent dominance. Obviously Stras' debut is legendary, and his WS performance was epic. That said: Scherzer had 92 wins for the Nats in basically 6.5 years (he was traded midseason to the Dodgers). Stras had 113 wins for the Nats in his whole 13 year career. Scherzer was an all star 5 times, i.e., every year he was a Nat except one. Stras was an all star 3 times in 13 years. Scherzer won the Cy Young for the Nats twice. Stras none. Scherzer set the tone for the whole team when he was here with his ferocious competitiveness. Stras......did not. Which is why he was never the face of the franchise (and didn't want to be). Stras had the dominant WS MVP year. But if you look at the whole playoff run, Scherzer was just as important. -
If anyone missed this amazing dunk by Renegade, he’s referencing the last time Youngkin came to Alexandria and got brutally pwned by some rando lady in a grocery store.
