  1. ^^ The best part is watching the people walking through that mess!!
  2. No problem. Sounds like you have some time to research options. Make sure you ask the contractors for references. Look at options to floor heat - what other options exist? One thing you don't want is to NOT get the floor heat, finish your basement, & then be cold. Space heaters are expensive to operate. And you don't want to tear everything up & then do the install. Talk to neighbors, friends, coworkers to find out what they've done. Make sure to ask them the cost to operate & maintain the floor heat. Yeah, we're all at the mercy of our better half. Just file it away to use when you want to get that special thing for yourself...
  3. I don't know much about it, but the cost is going to depend on how many square feet need to be installed. I would: 1. Do some research about this floor-coil-thingy to determine the options - i.e., types of floor-coil-thingy. 2. Find out from the manufacturer's reputable contractor's in your area who install it 3. Get a quote from several for each type you like 4. Make a decision As others have said (and things I've read) it's the nuts for cold weather areas. Here's some info from Bob Villa. It includes some info on cost to operate, which is probably important to you: http://www.bobvila.com/articles/2161-radiant-floor-heating-101/#.VLbU3SvF_ng
  4. Yeah, looks like the death toll is rising: MAPUTO, Mozambique (AP) — Three more people have died from drinking contaminated beer, bringing the number of fatalities to 72, as the number hospitalized fell by more than 150, health authorities in Mozambique said on Tuesday. http://www.foodmanufacturing.com/news/2015/01/mozambique-links-72-contaminated-beer-deaths-crocodile-bile?et_cid=4361516&et_rid=556170706&type=headline
  5. Thanks. All over it like a cheap suit. Today's rain ruined my plans to make a artichoke/pesto/mozzarella using a Bobby Flay dough recipe.I'm still waiting on my 00 flour to arrive along with a case "6 in 1" canned tomatoes.
  6. ^^ Looks like Jerruh made the Tomato sit far away from him yesterday...
  7. I have a buddy work works at Phillips Arena. He said their 'normal' level of luxury suite attendees for today's game is about 1/2 of what they normally have for a Hawks game. He didn't say what the regular tix sales were for the game. I'm guessing all of the Cowpies fans will be staying home to watch that game vs. going to the Wiz vs. Hawks game. Will almost be a neutral court for the game today.
  8. Actually, I have a cheaper version. I just couldn't pull the $1k+ trigger on a Big Green Egg. I found one of these on sale - 50% off - a couple of years ago. It does a really good job holding temperatures for many hours. I've done pork shoulder at ~250 degrees for 8 hours. I haven't used my gas grill since I got this. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Char-Griller-Akorn-Kamado-Kooker-Charcoal-Grill-in-Graphite-16620/205026253
  9. Great thread! Looking forward to some interesting & tasty recipes. I'm just starting to get into pizza making grilled on my kamado. Just ordered some 00 flour. Made no-knead olive bread over the holidays that got good reviews from family & friends. I'm going experiment with other ingredients & also try cooking it on the kamado. Also want to get some sourdough starter to make my own sourdough bread. Still researching on the best place to purchase. Cooking is my therapy...plus my wife not only hates to cook, she's a terrible cook.
  10. Bring it in? How the heck can I grill if I bring it inside? Get a good cover and make sure you keep it tied to prevent the wind from blowing it off.
  11. I don't get the play calling on offense. Pass successful early, then abandon it and run 1st & 2nd down.
  12. So every call against the Wiz the Mavs get away with. Rondo pushes off...good...Pierce pushes off...foul And I don't get how the entire Mavs defense hangs in the paint the entire time the Wiz have the ball. It's only been called once early but they've been doing it all night
  13. Yeah, I attribute it to 1st Big 10 game jitters & playing away. Gotta hand it to them, they hung in there & got the W. Great way to start the Big 10 season.
  14. First Big 10 loss for Izzo @ home opener. Nice entry to the Big 10 Terps!
  15. Found this: "Temperature and pressure (T&P) relief valves used on residential water heaters are typically designed and manufactured to relieve on pressure at 150 psig and on temperature at 210 degrees F. These ASME, ANSI and CSA (AGA) approved relief valves protect the water heater from excess pressures and temperatures by discharging water. In normal operation of the water heater and T&P valve, no water should be discharged from the valve. A T&P valve that discharges is an indication of an abnormal condition in the system and by discharging, the T&P valve is meeting its designed safety purpose. The causes of discharge can be thermal expansion, excess system pressure, low temperature relief, too high a setting on the water heater, or something in the water heater causing excess temperatures in the heater. Thermal Expansion: When water is heated it expands. In a 40 gallon water heater, water being heated to its thermostat setting will end up expanding by approximately 1/2 gallon. The extra volume created by this expansion has to go somewhere or pressure will dramatically increase, such as when water is heated in a closed system. A good indication of thermal expansion is when the T&P valve releases about one cup of water for each 10 gallons of heater capacity with each heating cycle. The T&P valve is functioning properly when it relieves pressure caused by thermal expansion, but frequent relief can build up natural mineral deposits on the valve seat, rendering the valve inoperative. This condition can be addressed by the installation of a Watts thermal expansion tank or other Watts thermal expansion device to protect your system from overpressure caused by thermal expansion. If there is no discharge from the valve, there is no need to replace the valve. System Pressure: If installation of a thermal expansion device does not relieve occasional dripping from the T&P valve, then the system pressure should be checked. If system pressure is excessive (typically more than 75 PSI), a Watts pressure regulator should be installed on the incoming water line. Warning: The discharge from a T&P valve can be very hot. It is very important that all T&P valves be installed properly with a discharge line piped downward to an adequate drain to avoid property damage and to minimize possible human contact. Please read and follow the instructions on the warning tag attached to your T&P valve." http://www.watts.com/pages/support/tp.asp?catId=64
  16. Add Atlanta to the list. Mike Smith is out http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12091459/atlanta-falcons-fire-mike-smith
  17. Exactly. I never expected to make money on the tickets, either. But since I travel a lot for work, it was not always possible to make the Sunday/Monday/Thursday night games, or even the 4pm Sunday games. I couldn't get anywhere near face value for them. And, some seasons, I couldn't even give them to friends. I ended up donating them to get the tax write-off.
  18. Someone should keep a running tab of those not renewing for next year. And I get why people would stop renewing. I cut ties ~6 years ago after 45+ years of family tickets. Product just wasn't worth the price. Each season, I was in the hole for $400+ before the season even started. Then when the losing begins, I can't give the tickets away. Too many seasons of watching half-assed effort, loss after loss, & inept coaching.
  19. In my opinion, it should be "pretty smooth" and not "perfectly smooth". The notch in the trowel should compensate for slight bumps/imperfections on the floor. Use a level that spans multiple tiles to make sure the tiles are level as you apply them. Once you're done, you'll never know there were slight imperfections on the existing concrete.
  20. Hand your wife some money & send her out shopping. Then use the air hammer. Putting the tile on top of the concrete foundation sounds right, but someone more experienced might have a different opinion.
