  1. I really hope we can use this draft to land Withey and a good backup PG like Larkin or Schroeder. Imagine coming out of this draft with Milsap, Schroeder and Withey. That'd be a huge win. (We would probably have to move Ariza and Vesely to Utah to make salaries match) PG: Wall / Schroeder / Price SG: Beal / Bellinelli (bi-annual exception) / Martin SF: Webster ($3M annually) / Budinger (whatever is leftover from MLE) / Singleton PF: Milsap / Nene / Booker C: Emeka / Withey / Seraphin
  2. I like Porter but the only people I view as potential foundation pieces outside of Noel and McLemore are Oladipo and Burke. Unfortunately, we don't need either one of them. Is bench depth a bad thing? The only good bench player we have now is Ariza. Booker, Price, Singleton and Seraphin are all third rate. Furthermore, if we had a good backup PG last season instead of Price, we would have probably picked up at least 5-6 wins more when Wall was out.
  3. Trade Targets w/ Pick: - Aspirational: Kanter, Monroe, Sanders, Horford - More Realistic: Milsap I'd be really happy if we can get Milsap in a sign and trade. iF we can get back that #14 pick also and get ourselves Dennis Schroder to back up Wall, that is a home run
  4. I live in Philly and have watched him play a few times. No one gets to teh FT line like this guy in the college game.
  5. I'm going: 1. Noel 2. Oladipo 3. Porter 4. McLemore 5. Zeller Oladipo, to me, has freakish potential given his unique blend of high-level athleticism and BBIQ. With his 6-11 wingspan, he won't have problems playing SF. If McLemore is sitting there when we pick though, we have to pick him. I would avoid Shabazz. He seems like another guy who is going to put up empty numbers in the NBA - kind of like a rich man's Nick Young.
  6. Rudy Gay and Eric Gordon did not make any all-star appearances; yet both have received max deals
  7. I don't think Rudy Gay is very good. I don't think Wall and Gay will lead a team to the playoffs with no credible big man. ---------- Post added February-26th-2013 at 11:25 AM ---------- I think you underrate how stupid NBA GMs are. There are going to be a few out there with max cap space that strike out with the premier max FA types and will sign Wall out of an act of desperation to the max to appease their fanbases.
  8. The difference between Mitch Richmond and Jerry Stackhouse vs. Lowry and Valaciunas is that Lowry and Valaciunas are also young and can grow with this team to build a chemistry with Beal for a brighter future.
  9. Who would be down for a Wall and Seraphin for Valaciunas, Lowry & unprotected 2014 1st rd pick? We'd get back one of the most promising big men in the game, perhaps the most underrated point guard in the league and a lottery pick in the excellent 2014 draft for 2 headaches (Wall's forthcoming max extension and Seraphin's non-improvement and nonchalance)
  10. I don't think Cousins is going to get it until his late 20s. That is the case with many of the knuckleheads around the league who have toned it down in recent years (ex. ZBo, JR Smith, etc.). These guys need to experience disappointment and rock bottom before they end up changing their approaches to the game and their attitudes. Alas we are a sucky team at the end of the day that has truly hit rock bottom. We have nothing to lose and I'd be willing to throw in any piece outside Wall, Beal, and the next 2 1sts for Cousins.
  11. Glover Teixeira is probably the next serious threat within the division. Cormier is saying he will fight at LHW in the UFC so we'll see
  12. This one is on Dana. The rest of the card was pretty bad. It's funny but these days I'd rather watch a Strikeforce card than a UFC PPV - Strikeforce really does the most with what it has. You can argue that it is because they have 8-10 events a year but, in that case, cut the PPV cards by 25% and load the cards up. If Dana doesn't feel it is because the 250 fighters on his roster are not getting enough fights, then reduce the roster as well. Keep around less of these low-level prelim gatekeepers like Riki Fukuda and Leonard Garcia. Every PPV card should have the main 3 fights feature top 12 fighters (in their divisions) squaring off against each other. It is a good thing 151 got cancelled. Now, the fans will get more of their money's worth for 152.
  13. My guess is that he can't go hard in training. Otherwise, the potential is definitely there for another setback to his knees.
  14. That's why Pat Barry still has a job. Notice how most of his fights are on the free cards. ---------- Post added August-6th-2012 at 11:11 AM ---------- The UFC also needs to do what it can to buy out the Strikeforce light heavyweight division from Showtime control. The Strikeforce LHW division is only 2 deep anyway with Mousasi and Feijao (assuming Kyle drops to MW). Furthermore, the UFC could use an infusion of new LHW prospects like OSP and Villante, given the current pool of top prospects in the UFC at LHW consists of just Gustafsson, Davis and a few others. Perhaps, they can agree to send a few of their mid-tier lightweights, welterweights and middleweights to challenge Melendez, Marquardt, and Rockhold.
  15. It's because Cormier is coming to the UFC after this fight. A win over Mir = immediate #1 contender for the HW title, granted JDS retains vs. Cain. Otherwise, Cormier is going to have to find a way to cut to LHW to fight for a title. If Gil beats Pat, no one is left for him in SF. ---------- Post added July-25th-2012 at 11:07 PM ---------- One possible option I can think of is Eddie Alvarez, who will fight his last fight for Bellator in October. I hope Zuffa can sign him to such a contract that he gets a non-title shot against Melendez (I don't think Eddie would want to get stuck in Strikeforce) and then they can move him over to the UFC. If I were Eddie, if I were to go to the UFC, I'd go to the FW division given how crowded the LW division is. If I were to beat Gil, I'd want to be promised a title shot vs. the KZ/Aldo (who will beat Koch) winner in exchange for doing the UFC this favor.
  16. I was there. Everyone thought Thomson was robbed - Melendez was being booed so hard you couldn't hear his post-fight interview. Melendez wants no part of Thomson for part 4
  17. Anyone going to go watch the World Grand Prix tomorrow? I'm excited. Going down to San Jose for it. To be honest, prime Strikeforce was as entertaining, if not more, than the UFC. I've gotta give it to these guys that they really try to load their cards. Even the 2nd match on the main card is the #2 vs #3 LHW (although that is not saying much). Anyways, who does everyone have? Barnett or Cormier? I know the winner has to stick around for one more fight against a "high-level heavyweight" but, honestly, the winner should get a crack at the UFC belt.
  18. We have a great shot at at least becoming a playoff team next season. We better not screw that up
  19. Based off how the draft ends up shaking out, we are going to have some very interesting options in free agency. I think it is pretty apparent we still need legitimate starters at SG, SF and PF. If we get Anthony Davis or Thomas Robinson, I think we should be willing to fork over all our cap dollars for Eric Gordon, who we may be able to get due to his injury this season. If we get Beal, Barnes or MKG, we should go after Ersan Ilyasova. Ersan is a perfect fit on this team and exactly what we need. Good rebounder, good 3 point shooter and solid defender who is known for hustle. If we get Ersan, we have a stacked frontcourt in: PF: Ilyasova / Booker / Singleton C: Nene / Seraphin / I'd also think hard about giving away Booker as a sweetener to dump Blatche. After we buyout Lewis, we may then have enough cap space to sign both Ilyasova/Gordon and a solution at SF in Gerald Green, who has been playing fantastic this season and looks like a new, much more mature player vs. his earlier years in the league. We could then go (in a likely scenario): PG: Wall / Mack / Anthony Carter (min) SG: Gordon / Crawford / Mason SF: Green / C. Singleton / C. Martin PF: T. Robinson / J. Singleton / Vesely C: Nene / Seraphin / F. Ezeli (2nd rd pick) Thats a complete team 1-5...could use a better bench but can continue to build on that.
  20. I hope Le wins...his exciting style was one of the reasons I got into MMA. I also love the Strikeforce guys. Going to go watch this live and can't wait.
  21. As usual, there are going to be very good college players in this draft who are going to become very solid NBA players who may be there when we use the Atlanta pick (Markieff Morris probably but maybe just maybe Nolan Smith & Marcus Morris too). Marcus reminds me a lot of David West.
  22. I'm fairly new to the sport. Why do you guys hate KJ Noons so much?
