  1. Okafor and Ariza's contracts expire after next season, so I wouldn't be pressed to get rid of them. If I had to amnesty anyone to keep Webster, it'd be Nene. I love the guy, but he's not worth that much with the injuries and all and we'll likely be drafting a guy to fill his spot in this draft anyway. I don't care how much of a teammate Nene is, if I have a choice between overpaying Webster or keeping Nene on the roster, you know where on what's best for the team going forward.
  2. Crazy, but I'd rather them call the fouls when we're getting hit while trying to score. We wiggled our way out of a couple Ts, especially Booker.
  3. Suns playing like a team that doesn't want to lose a fourth game in a row. Wiz gotta match that if they want this win, because are showing they want it more. There are going to be nights like that, but it doesn't have to be tonight.
  4. Just saw little piece of Wittman snapping on a reporter insenuating that he was lying about Beal's health status. Watching that it hit me why the players like him. As fans we may be frustrated with him on an Xs and Os front, but he brings a certain attitude that the players respect. You see it on defense and you see if when the players give interviews. He may not be perfect, but he is a part of the culture change in DC. Also saw Beal expected to play tonight. Not sure if he's going to start, but I would really like to see Beal, Wall, and Webster play like a big 3 tonight. We've already moved ourselves closer and closer to the middle of the draft, we might as well grow as a team and try to end this season with a respectable record. As I fan, with all the injuries and BS we've been through, I can live with that...
  5. Agreed. I'm tired of hearing all our SF options when we already have one.
  6. Wall really starting to look like that talent that justified him being pick #1 overall. Did you see the range on that three? Daaang...
  7. Man, as someone pointed out, it really is depressing how much of this thread is always about next year and offseason moves. It gets to the point sometimes I'd rather just watch the games and hope for the best, and think offseason when it's time to think offseason.
  8. 27 points and 14 assists is pretty damn awesome, imo. Sucks I missed that, even worse we still loss.
  9. That 3-point barrage by Williams to start the game just sunk us in a hole we could climb out of. I agree we need scoring and someone to help keep opposing players from having rebounding nights like that. We really need a scoring big man, like an Al Jefferson.
  10. He's trying to damn hard, which especially tonight was unneccesary. Beal was having a career night, he should've been given the ball more. Still no excuse for the team as a whole missing that many free throws, almost bigger reason why we lost. We had the knicks with no fouls to give with more then six minutes left in the game. Wall didn't have much of any turnovers until the end of the game. There are sometimes he seems like he's trying to meet the expectations of being a #1 overall pick. There's pressure there, man, the heart is there, he definitely gives a **** about winning versus losing. He needs someone to talk to, really he does. This team doesn't need more inexperienced talent. They need veterans.
  11. I don't agree with benching Wall at all. I agree that he hurts the team when he turns the ball over a lot, but he's been the the leading assists player of both teams in 6 of our last 9 games including tonight. The guy is 22 years old and coming off a knee injury, Benching him isn't going to lower his own turnover-to-assists ration. I'd rather Wall out there practicing shooting to make up for the time he lost because of his injury.
  12. That Taylor Swift song doesn't sound country at all. It sounds actually, kinda, cool.
  13. JC, guys, sixth win in a row against a team with a winning record and we still suck. Glad I was able to get enough of the stream to work to catch the last minute and the Beal rebound. Was able to see them make it work, wasn't perfect, but we won, that's what matters.
  14. Okay, cool. Not watching game, stuck with updating box score. Looks like Wall hit the shot to put us up by four with 13 seconds left. I have a lot of respect for how they spread the 119 points so far around with 7 players in double figures and still no one over 17. And Denver is at least a playoff team, so its not like we did this against the Bobcats or something.
  15. Woh. I just got home, and am looking at the box score. Its not just the 30 point quarters or the fact of being up like that on Denver, it's that we still don't have anyone with more then 15 points yet. Woh.
  16. The problem with this trade is we traded a guy with potential for potentially nothing. You can make arguments for him being here or not being here, but we got rapped on this trade. Just because we weren't giving him minutes doesn't mean anything. Look how long Singleton stayed in the dog house, for no damn reason, then first game back scored in double figures. This is the one step forward, two step back nonsense that has kept us in loserville for so long. The dude is 30 years old with a knee injury, and the other guy is 34. Crawford is going to score double digits for Boston, and maybe even grow into their starting two guy. That's what bothers me about this more then anything else.
  17. We traded crawford for a guy with a torn ACL? Are you f'n kidding me???
  18. Hard to argue with results. He's running into that Haslett type of redemption territory, so even if he keeps it up, he still needs help on his coaching staff going forward (like a better offensive minded assistant). He needs somebody in his ear to stop throwing people in the dog house when he's supposed to be developing his young talent (prime example is Singleton).
  19. I understand your post, not so much in reference to mine. I was addressing the topic of letting Webster walk then turn around and drafting a SF with our top pick. I understand the risk of other teams possibly bidding for his services, but unless someone offers him something crazy like a max contract, we should do what we need to keep him here. I agree this is at least a .500 basketball team, and would be right now if it wasn't for that historically horrible start to the season due to injuries. I wouldn't mind not going after any free agents and just adding via the draft. We have some big contracts already, so unless we do some serious wheeling and dealing, I want our main offseason target to be Webster.
  20. Those shots are eventually going to fall in the hoop. I can feel it, he just wants it more then pretty much everyone on the court when I see him play. I'm really starting to love the guy...
  21. It would be a mistake to let Webster leave. He's young, he's scoring, we need that. I focus should be on center and power forward, not creating another hole in hopes of filling it with a better piece. This is the draft we're talking about, we have been wrong for years...
  22. Bledsoe has pretty much the same stats as Wall tonight, and also his team lost the game. He's not elite right now, but that's fine because he's 22 and has the tenacity to get better. Upset that Beal didn't play again, but how in the world do we let one guy grab 22 rebounds? Win or not, that another scoring threat need to be addressed on this team. Solid win, wish I got to see it...
  23. Yep, that's exactly what I feel happened. Not only can I not blame the guy, I commend him for doing that. Watching Nene's box score of 0-6 from the field in the first half and us only having 26 points, enough was enough. 10-22 averages out for not bad for somebody that can't shoot, too.
  24. John Wall - 21 / 9 / 5. I can live with that. Thank you Wizards for getting mad enough not to get blown out by 50, because you were well on your way. That was a nice little distraction from psychology homework...
