  1. Arik Armstead, but he had a disappointing year last year after a great 2019. To your point, I’d take our duo over theirs. Their backups are definitely more accomplished though (Dee Ford, Sam Ebukam) so maybe that’s why they got the nod.
  2. Maybe an option if Hop’s struggles return?
  3. I think that cut was to activate David Sharpe. According to the beat reporters they still owe one more. I think it’s closest to Sah-mis. Some people I think have been calling him Sammy as a nickname but I don’t believe the S is silent.
  4. Kick returns maybe but I haven’t yet seen any indication he’s in the punt returner conversation. Would be a lot to put on a rookie who’s never done it before.
  5. “Is Sammis Reyes in the International Pathway Program?” and “What does Peyton Barber do well?” are in a close race for most responded to questions in this thread. 😂
  6. They can’t all play at once obviously, but given Fitzpatrick age and Heinicke’s injury history, it’s certainly not crazy to think they might all need to play this season. Not saying I wouldn’t trade one if the price was right, but something to consider.
  7. He keeps saying this and I keep asking that question and so far no response. 😂
  8. The first 4 weeee definitely not surprises: Rick Leonard Justus Reed Justin Phillips Jordan Brown I wonder why they are waiting on the last one.
  9. I don’t think that’s right. In fact, IPP players can not only be assigned to the practice squad, but if they pass through waivers and are assigned to the PS as an IPP exemption, they cannot be signed by other teams (or activated by their own team), that season. That said, that’s all irrelevant in this case because Reyes was signed to the roster outright, not assigned as part of the IPP, so he is not considered an IPP player for roster purposes. We weren’t eligible to be awarded him through the IPP anyway, because we we acquired David Bada through the program in 2020 and are currently using that roster exemption on him.
  10. I think the 53rd man, as it were, is one of these 3 positions… 7th WR (Assuming Carter or Milne is the punt returner. Do you keep Gandy-Golden as the 7th?) 9th DL (Assuming JSW and WBK are the primary backups at DE. Do you keep someone like Toney? Toohill? Lawrence?) 11th DB (Assuming Moreland and McTyer are the 4th and 5th CBs, and we keep 5 safeties. Do you keep a 6th CB like Apke? Johnson? Roberts?) This is assuming we’re keeping at least 3 QBs, 4 RBs, 6 WRs, 3 TEs, 9 OLs, 8 DLs, 6 LBs, 10 DBs, and 3 ST. I could be wrong on 4 RBs but at this point I think we’d all agree Patterson has made the team and I don’t see them cutting any of the other three. I could see only 5 LBs after cut down day, but I don’t think that would be a long term thing - it would be because we’re trying to nab a 6th one from another team.
  11. Yeah the PS protection doesn’t really let you stop a team from grabbing someone on your PS entirely. It just stops them from doing it right before game day if you’re worried you might need to activate a player at a particular position due to injury or something.
  12. Apke seems to be trending the right direction… he’s definitely making the bubble conversation interesting. Serious contender? Maybe not. But I’m not sure how you don’t think isn’t at least a possible playoff team. That’s a bizarre take.
  13. AGG didn’t play a snap on special teams last year so I was going off that. Maybe that’s changed so far this preseason I hadn’t noticed. Also doesn’t necessarily means he would play it in the regular season once the core special teams guys are playing all game. Point being I think it’s fair to say he’s not a special teams ace, so he’ll have to make the roster on the merits of his WR play.
  14. This has been rehashed here 1,000 times, but McKissic and Patterson are both <200 lbs. Neither fits the profile of a short yardage back. You could argue how necessary that is, but Barber at 225 lbs clearly offers something they don’t purely from a size/power perspective.
  15. It’s hard to judge much off of the 5 total series he’s played. Apparently his chemistry with Fitz has been more evident in practice.
  16. Yeah I’m on board with just keeping 5 LBs and stashing whoever you like of that Norris/Kunaszyck/Phillips group on the PS. A signing from elsewhere after final cuts wouldn’t shock me either though, which makes me think we should probably account for 6 LBs on the roster regardless of what the final cuts look like.
  17. The more I think about it, I think Jeremy Reaves squeezes onto this roster somehow. I’m not sure how, but I just have a feeling.
  18. Keeping 26 offensive players wouldn’t be unheard of. They’ve done it recently, maybe even last year? (Edit: I was close. They last kept 26 offensive players in 2019) 27 isn’t going to happen though.
  19. I’m not sure how the math works to keep 3 QBs, 4 RBs, 7 WRs, and 4 TEs. If Reyes isn’t healthy or otherwise doesn’t look ready to contribute I don’t think you can keep him as your 3rd TE because you can’t really keep a 4th. He needs to get healthy or else they might try to stash him on IR. Probably the best case scenario if they can get away with that.
  20. Larsen seems to be pretty solidly ahead of Ismael for the backup center position but otherwise I’m on board with this.
  21. Not much from the starting offense tonight which is worrying. But plenty of backups flashes tonight. Patterson Gandy-Golden Bradley-King McTyer Wise
  22. Patterson might already be the second best RB on the roster. I didn’t think he’d look this good.
