  1. No way I’m taking Mayer at 16. His ceiling doesn’t warrant that. I want one of the offensive lineman unless Gonzalez or Witherspoon slip. I think Darnell Wright is the “realistic” pick I like most at 16. if we’re talking about “safe” picks that most expect to be available, I’ll take Brian Branch over any of the tight ends easily.
  2. Certainly would help explain why Terry was never really featured at Ohio State. Meyer probably never really saw him as one of “his guys.” What a piece of **** that guy is.
  3. Yeah count me in as another that is not scared of the Eagles at all. I think they played over their heads last season. They weren’t an AJ Brown away from being real contenders.
  4. John Keim mentioned him the other day as a possibility. Maybe he had old info but to me that feels like he’s heard something. As for Bradberry… the only way I see it is if it’s a Flowers/Norwell or Moses/Leno situation and we’re cutting Fuller to bring him on. Could save $8M by cutting Fuller post June 1. Not necessarily advocating for this, because I’m not even sure that’s an upgrade. Just saying it’s the only way I see Bradberry being an option.
  5. Sims is also a special teamer. My guess is all 6 would be active in that case but it would obviously depend on the rest of the roster.
  6. I’m guessing Keim meant significant free agent signings. Erickson probably isn’t getting much more than the minimum.
  7. Milne would be in that conversation too. Those 3 guys for the 6th WR spot/returner is my guess. Harmon or AGG would really have to impress to unseat Cam Sims as the big WR. If they expect Dotson to contribute as a WR right away (which I’m sure they do) I doubt they’d want to rely on him as a returner. They didn’t play that up much in interviews about his skill set either.
  8. Fair. But no 4th round pick is going to be perfect. I’d gladly take the guy with a correctable “bad habit” than someone who doesn’t have the traits.
  9. Reading between the lines on these two statements… they want another LB, but want to wait to see who else might become a June 1 cut before committing. They may really like Martinez and want to wait him out specifically. They may also still be considering bringing Landon Collins back, which would affect how much money we have to work with. And technically, none of his cap savings are available to us until June 1 anyway… another reason to wait on a LB.
  10. I really liked the Butler pick at the time. Didn’t seem like the scouting reports matched up to where he was being projected. His weakness is tackling, yet he is universally touted as a hard hitter and a special teams ace? Something doesn’t add up there. If all you have to do is teach him to wrap up… that feels very doable. Much harder to teach speed, physicality or natural coverage ability and he seems to have all that.
  11. If your point is just that we should sign more UDFAs, than sure I agree in general. I never understood why we didn’t do that the last few years. But this statement technically isn’t accurate. I think our 90 man roster is full at the moment. We signed a healthy amount of UDFAs this year. No team is going to fill half of their 90 man roster with rookies.
  12. This is a strange take to me. We’ve got a top half of the league every down starter, one of the better third down backs in the league, and just drafted a guy in the third round that complements those two perfectly. Patterson and Jonathan Williams are perfectly fine options for a 4th RB, if you even keep one. Unless you’re expecting a rash of preseason injuries I’m not sure what the concern is. We have several other positions where depth is a far more serious issue.
  13. He’s definitely an option there. Risky to rely on a 4th round pick for any immediate contribution though…
  14. Yeah unless he comes really cheap I can’t see us signing a third veteran corner in the same age and salary range as Fuller and Jackson.
  15. I think we probably keep 10 WR/TE total. So yeah I think the Turner pick should probably make the AGG/Harmon/Reyes crew all nervous. Milne feels pretty bubble-y too with the Dotson pick as well as the UDFA Ezzard who I think could end up being really intriguing in the Deandre Carter role.
  16. To me, LB is the one position I think we have to make a free agent acquisition at. It’s been a problem for two years at least, and we’ve made no attempt this offseason to improve it. Maybe Jamin Davis improves exponentially this offseason but I don’t know if anyone would bet on that. And even if he does our depth behind him and Holcomb is very poor. The guy I’d be looking at is Alexander Johnson from the Broncos. PFF grades him as an elite run stopper (and their 3rd best FA LB overall). Bringing back Landon for the Buffalo nickel role would also help mask some of our LB depth issues.
  17. I don’t think Jaret would be deactivated as the 3rd RB and backup kick returner. I would assume the inactives as the roster stands now would be the 3rd QB, 4th TE, 7th WR (non-returner), 9th OL, and 5th DE. So basically exactly what @Voice_of_Reason said.
  18. Hard to say for sure, but it seems the tide swung from Schweitzer getting most of the first team work, to Flowers getting most of the first team work. One benefit I see of Schweitzer as a backup is he is more versatile. Could essentially be the first backup at all 3 entire interior OL positions if we wanted him to be.
  19. Hopefully it’s not the last move at LB, but I could see it being, at least for now.
  20. Seems like a mistake. There’s only 52 players listed on that graphic. Called the IR stash. Wouldn’t surprise me if that’s not the last one either.
  21. Yes he is. There haven’t been any roster changes since the first cuts yet, besides signing players to the practice squad.
  22. Don’t be disappointed when it’s David Mayo lol
  23. That all makes sense, I guess I’m just surprised that something as minor as a “contusion” aka a bruise would necessitate that whole process.
  24. Officially, he’s on IR. You’ve summarized the situation correctly. He can be released once they reach an injury settlement. What I’m not completely clear on is why we’d even bother releasing him with an injury designation for such a minor injury, if we weren’t planning on stashing him on IR long term. Maybe they are but the beat reports have all hinted at him reaching a settlement and moving on.
