Huh? It’s well known you really stop growing around 20. It’s science. If JJ can put on some lbs, so can Jayden. Can’t just change the rules for JJ’s small frame.

Also, Jayden being closer to Jj than Caleb and Maye?   What? Jayden is in a different stratosphere from JJ. Jayden is a day 1 starter in the NFL whereas JJ likely won’t see the field for 1-2 seasons.

we all have our opinions though, to each their own. JJ is Daniel Jones 2.0, the similarities are all right there. Also when is the last time a game manager in college ever became elite in the NFL? It doesn’t happen.

No changing rules here, he will grow bigger the next few years like I did and most people I know. Jayden is RG3 they do not know how to protect themselves because of their style and the last option for me of the 4. Just my opinion too.

I am pretty sure they kept talking injury for him but he went anyway. He was stumbling all over the place in the drills and had no explosion.

Is Fiske working his way into the 1rst?

That's what they were saying last night, early second, he really stood out would be a good fit in a 3/4 at end. He is quick for 290lbs not just fast.

As to reason #500 as to the power of a rookie QB contract

That Pats reporter isn't the only one who has said the Pats are likely staying at #3 and taking a QB.

I know that gets in the way of the national media's entertainment.  Boring if the top 3 picks stay pat.  But i think the boring thing will happen albeit the national media will come up with various amusing scenarios for teams to trade down, up etc for the next two months.

Its draft season.  They need topics to discusss.

But will see.  If I were the Pats I'd stay pat.

Baker getting 40! What's Kirk getting?

Adding another discarded vet from another team at QB with no future while banking on our next top 10 player at a different spot would so the last 25 plus years.

I'd rather swing and fail then shoot back to the old school familiar train of maybe every 4 years we can go 9-8 and sneak into the wildcard.

I'd rather go 4-13 and shoot back again in the draft, then be stuck back on the 7-10, 8-9, 9-8 hamster wheel

If we went 4/13 I would hope we did not trade up and lose our no.1 in 2025. That's the worst case for me trading up that's my last option.

I wouldn't agree O'Brien was as good as Kelly. Ken only had two season when he threw for more than 20 TDs in a season (and he had 20 picks in one of those 20+ TD seasons)

But I totally agree it takes more than a QB.

Dan Fouts is another Q.B. like Marino. They had talent to maybe not Def.  Just remember O'Brian being a really good QB and was going on memory.

Maybe. Every QB is different. I think Young was good enough to play early on, but the team around him just sucked. Fields could have played early on if the scheme was super dumbed down(think RG3 2012 offense). Wilson would probably suck no matter what.

If you throw all your chips in like Carolina or Wash. they need to start, ready or not. Fire the coach if it fails.

In many ways the worst outcome is not drafting a Todd Blackledge or a Tony Eason.

Its drafting a Ken O'Brien. A guy who is a perfectly serviceable QB, heck a good QB. A guy who has great games and good season but never gets you anywhere close to a chance at a Supper Bowl.

Jim Kelly lost 4 S.B.'s, Marino never made a S.B. John Elway could not win a S.B. till Terrell Davis carried the team to victory in his first win. Ken O'Brien was as good as Kelly I believe. It takes more than then just a great QB to win a S.B. most of the time.

You should watch the Eastwood film 'handling the curve'.  I know its about Baseball, but the principals in scouting likely are similar in many ways.

And search failed me on this, i did look to see if it was posted before I shared this, I'm not saying MVS is the best Receiver available in FA that we could add, but barring the injury history, has had some pretty good impacts in KC and GB.

Its interesting ,looking at MVS's stats:

For the record, I wasn't proposing him as a replacement for our #2, but perhaps a better fit at the opposite side of the field from Terry, allowing Dotson to be in the slot on either side (or for them to switch.  I think he was injured a bit last year though, and KC had a number of WRs and tended to feede Travis Kelcey a ton.

I think the Eastwood movie might be called Trouble with the Curve, the one where he is getting older and going blind and his daughter grew up with him, it's about the sound of the ball hitting the glove. Good movie.

In fairness to '21, I don't think Mac Jones and Justin Fields are busts. Justin Fields is an elite athlete who produced 1 quality season in 3. Mac Jones has produced 1 quality season in 3. In both of their cases, their surrounding talent was garbage in 5 of 6 combined seasons overall (Mac Jones playmakers have always been dog ----, Fields improved a bit in '23 after being god awful in '21 and '22). Wilson is a bust, I think that's obvious, injury or no, Lance has been a bust, but Jones and Fields still carry legit draft capital for the purpose of trades, I think that's one of the ways you know they have value. Teams would trade a lot for Fields, and probably close to Howell level goodies for Mac. '21 was definitely weird as hell, all 5 have disappointed and none have hit big, but only 2 of the guys look like certfiable busts right now. It's kinda like '18 where Allen and Lamar hit, nobody could decide what Baker was (and they still can't), and Rosen and Darnold flamed out horribly.

Big Ben was taken 11 not 3. If mac and Justin are not busts why are they looking for or taking a new QB? RG3,? Baker? These are the best blue chippers out of 21 drafts? How many S.B.'s wins?

The Bears can go from #1 to #2 and get a raft of picks from us. Then go again with say the Giants or Falcons.

Granted they have to pass on Williams, however the 2024-2026 draft capital they could acquire would be staggering in the process. All of those stud prospects on rookie deals for 4-5 years. But yes, they have to pass on Williams….

Nice having 2 no.1's following the fleecing of Carolina the year before. Great moves on the Bears part and the reason we should not trade up. So many options?

The idea that they can do anything in the draft is what's put out there by almost every team, every year.  I among others telegraphed this in advance -- its just boiler plate draft rhetoric that most smart teams engage in.

We'd have a fairly lazy group running this team IMO if they've landed on this already.  the process has just started.  Keim has talked to about this to death, this FO will study these guys relentlessly -- they are very thorough.   Interviews. Pro Days.  Team visits.

When did the Tean put that out there? It's just my opinion and means nothing to them, I would like them to do all the work and not be stuck on what you have to do.

Yeah but if its a crap QB draft next year as most projects - they'd look like big time fools to punt from a perceived strong QB draft to a weak QB draft.

Maybe, but if it worked out another way who cares? It's a crap shoot with all the QB's and Carolina looks like the newest fools right now. While the Bears look like the smart people at this point.  I am not tied to the no.2 QB has to be the pick as been stated many times. Whatever they do is what we are going to live with, just hope it's right. I know what order I want but that's it.
