Mahomes isn't Mahomes if he doesn't sit for a year, learn from Alex Smith (who was willing to take him under his wing and mentor him) and if he doesn't go to a super stacked Chiefs team that had already been to multiple AFC Championships before he arrived.

There has to be more context added to this. If Mahomes was drafted to a team like the Panthers this year and had to start right away is he in the same position? Highly doubtful.

If he was drafted to this team , he may have been run out of town. Andy is working coaching on a different level its not all about talent.

I mean...I know what happened with Young but I still don't like Tua. I think we would be looking for a new QB now if we drafted him tbh. Miami worked for him because they put a ton of pieces around him, it was the best situation for him. I don't believe we would have been that.

It does make a difference when you have the pieces around you, doesn't it.

He caught more passes for more yards and a higher YPC. He also ran the ball a lot more, getting about 5 times as many yards.

Seems pretty evident 2022 was a better year.

You ready to resign him. @11.5 mil a year like the last 3 years.

WOW, we have one of them now! Maybe he can save a few of our young DB's from busting. Coaching staff is really starting to shape up. It's been a while since we had a impressive group of Coaches. We need that OL coach we have been lacking next.

Counterpoint (and I believe it from what I know of Sirianni):

There is a push to lay all the blame for the Eagles’ offense at the feet of Brian Johnson. The logic is that this offense ran fine with Shane Steichen, so the new Offensive Coordinator must be the problem. But is he? Or is the scheme he is being asked to call plays in the problem? Can he be held accountable for bad play-calling if the playbook is flawed to begin with?

Nick Sirianni has said it himself. This is his offense. He designs the plays, he makes the gameplan. Brian Johnson just calls the plays. Eagles fans may hope the solution is as simple as changing Coordinators. That is far easier to do than changing the head coach. But Sirianni is at the core of the issues when it comes to the Eagles’ late-season struggles on offense. The problems with the blitz, the lack of throws over the middle of the field, the predictable plays. That is all Nick Sirianni. Even if fans want to pin it on Johnson.

Dont take my word for it though. On Thursday, Tim McManus joined the show for the full 3 PM hour. They talked to him about his recent article about the rift between Jalen Hurts, Brian Johnson, And Nick Sirianni. And while he was on, he talked about how little Brian Johnson had to do with the direction of this offense.

“All Lurie has to do is pick up the phone and call people who know Brian Johnson. The response from those people will be that is not Brian Johnson’s offense. You can see the confliction play out on the field because you can tell it is not what he would be calling in that situation. That is not Brian Johnson’s offense.”

I hope you are right? I was just going by what I was seeing and watching what was not happening and the comments being made. Seems like a good hire.

  6. The Eagles O went south the 2nd. half of the season mainly the passing game. Johnson was being targeted for not using the middle of the field over and over in the games I watched by the analyst. Teams new he was not using it, WR's were frustrated and nobody was getting open. That is mostly the reason for his stock drop I think and why he got fired. It was not only the D. I hope it is for QB only at this point.

Really like this hire. I was really surprised when they fired him. Desai not so much, but the Eagles offense was really good last year.

Really good the first half/ Really bad the 2nd. half is what my eyes seen.

I've never liked the idea of bringing in guys who were extremely well coached and broke out from out of nowhere, that always seems to backfire when they go elsewhere.

That said some of those guys on that list didn't just come from nowhere and they'll still have the coaches that helped them break out but I'd rather try to find our own hidden gems to groom, that's what we brought peters in for.

Use the money to get guys who have always been blue chip and aren't as scheme dependent if they're out there in free agency of course.

I am not ready to overpay for Cowboys again, it sucked last time with Norv.

Here is a sleeper for you. Johnny Wilson  - Florida. He's like 6' 6" 235 and runs a 4.4.  He was probably a 5th or 6th round before the start of this season  but now he's maybe as high as 3rd rounder although if blows up the combine he might not last that long. He wasted two years at ASU and hardly played then he switched to Florida for his Jr year and was their primary target. 43 catches at 20 yards a catch.

You could not miss him at the senior bowl with his size. We need more size at WR and Some better TE's. Players that can do multiple things for both pass and run. We have 5 wr's about the same size, it needs to change. Wilson could do many things for the team? We need more speed, quicker type in the backfield who can do more.

Yep, we literally have 5 draft picks between the start of round 2 and the end of 3/start of 4. People keep pretending the OL can't effectively be addressed unless we use the 2nd overall pick on one, or trade down and select one. First, that ignores the bust factor, and second that ignores the fact that we can have a Stromberg situation as well, people have already forgotten we used day 2 draft capital on the young Center prospect with a "future average starter" grade and then of course there's the point already mentioned, that we have a giant collection of draft capital and salary cap space to address the issue, not just the value of the 2nd overall pick.

There is a real sacrifice i failing to acquire an OL in the top 10, but it's also a fools errand. We had Jansen and Samuels, we had Scherff and Trent Williams and it never meant anything in the least. 3 elite top 10 lineman selections across 15 years and a top OL from the top 30ish, immaterial because the guys taking the snaps were mediocrities or worse. You can't build an OL for noone. You have to build an OL for an actual talent. A QB is either it, or they are not it, we don't have "it", we've got to get it. Simple as that.

Thanks for that.   I think you are probably right.  I liked Samuel in Carolina, but I'm not sure he did enough to earn another contract here, and there are other people to go There are so many Talented WRs in this draft too, I think we sign a FA and draft at least one.  Heck I'd not be surprised if we draft someone for the return game.

Samuell , on the contract he underperformed, big waist of money. last year was the only year I can remember him doing anything of note. Dynami also was a waisted draft pick.

The stats for the Qbs in round 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 is abysmal.  Much better for round 1.  And its not close.

Some like to combine the 2nd-7 rounds into one unit.  But that's now how it works.

It would be like me saying.  We can draft Drake Maye or we get ALL of these guys:  Penix, Nix, Rattler, Pratt, Hartman, Milton.

Now if its the way the real world works and its Maye versus name that random QB in the next round.  The odds are with Maye.

But some (not you) like to argue the point that its indeed an option of getting Maye or Daniels versus having every other QB drafted in the 2nd round -- all of them.

Heck you give me any position and the trade off is I get the the best player at this positon or the 8 players at that same position from the 2nd round through the 7th, I'll take the 8 players.

Since 2000 only 1 QB drafted in the top 3 has won a S.B. E.Manning, Only 2 drafted in the top 10 has won a S.B. P.Mahomes, Out of 43 picks 10 or higher. Since the SB. is the top Prize and not 8/8 or 12/5.... that's not a good ratio. 41 teams won SB's without their QB being picked in the top ten. Everybody wants a Trophy. Second is Second loser. Mahomes can make it 3 or Purdy can make it 2 out of 44. Just putting more facts out there and the Nos. came from Bleacher Report on not to trade up article. Not that we should not draft a QB top 3 just how hard it is to get that QB no matter where you pick or trade down.

Deion can lead boys/young men that much is true.

But I'm sick of our fan base constantly yearning for legends of the past. No other fan base does this. None of those guys you mentioned have any experience coaching.

Not as coaching just visit.  HOF players do need to come back, not as coaches agree.  look at Baltimore, SF, Detroit..... They were out full force.  But a 2 hour by Green hurts nothing.

  13. 24 minutes ago, Warhead36 said:

yeah for real. What kind of advice would Green even give? "Run a 4.2 40 and cover better?" There is a reason most great players don't coach, because you can't coach the freakish ability you were blessed with.

Primetime disagrees with you, I would give Darrell a shot with him this offseason it could not hurt. Not as a coach for the season but a mentor after all he did have some good teachers when he played. HOFers like Darrell, Monk, Riggins should visit more often, Dan is gone.
