  1. interesting article on Can's negotiations with the sticking point being a buy-out clause: https://www.thisisanfield.com/2017/09/emre-cans-release-clause-demand-sign-times-liverpool/ to me, it should be either: 1) no buy out but higher salary or 2) significant buy out clause but lower salary... on a sliding scale so that the higher buy out agreed to would correspond to a higher salary. seems so logical to me that there must be something i'm missing for the club/player/agent to not be doing it.
  2. eff bein sports. espn or nbc needs to buy the US rights to the hispanic games that air on that bull**** channel that no one gets.
  3. Coutino saying he'll not play in CL group stages for the Reds so he's not cup tied for Barca's winter advances. if that's true and not just the spanish newspapers stirring up trouble, eff phil. i'd play him in the most embarrassing games in the league cup games vs. 4th division sides. no prem action, no CL action at all. don't sell him in january and let him rot. i doubt fsg allow that to happen as it would seriously devalue coutino in the summer window, but that would be my emotional reaction. hell, let him rot at melwood for the next 5 years of his contract. a lesson for the lads in future contract negotiations: put in buy-out clauses if you think you could possibly want to leave for another team. i bet fsg would have gladly put in a £75m clause in January before they knew about the mad money of the summer of 17. may have used that to lower his weekly wages as a compromise, but they would have been happy to do it.
  4. i think Barca is saving face here. Liverpool never wavered on their "not for sale" stance. maybe they said, "we wouldn't even sell him for 200m." it'll be interesting to see how coutino re-integrates into the team, if he makes a push to be sold in january, if he really wants to be left off the CL squad, etc. it's a damned shame to potentially see such a good player/club/fan relationship go so sideways. i just don't understand his logic of signing a new 5 year deal without a freaking buyout clause if he was going to go so dark when Liverpool stood their ground. he only has himself and his representation to blame here. 'Pool would have been happy to put in a £100m buyout back in the Spring before the crazy mad money window, and he would have been playing at camp nou next weekend. and honestly, same goes for VVD. i don't blame southampton one bit for not selling.
  5. i appreciate not spending money on players just to spend money, and klopp definitely has a "type" that he's looking for. i also understand that it takes three to tango (buying club, selling club, and player). but damn... it's frustrating to see the team not have backup options that will help the team THIS year (though i love the keita move, just wish it were for this year) when clubs don't sell players that want to come to liverpool. to come out of this window without a center back to upgrade the back 4 is criminal... and certainly our current crop of cb's aren't so good that there aren't upgrades available. here's to hoping for a light injury year...
  6. Maybe in an open game like this, but he is the key that unlocks a bunkered side.
  7. Won first 10- check foot on throat- check That'll do, Pool. Just close out now.
  8. Oh, and btw, Liverpool, let's be ruthless here. Don't let them back in this. Win the first 10 min, foot on their throats, foot on the gas. Close this one out, boys!
  9. Arsene made a mess of that half, and the players didn't help much. Reds looking powerful and dangerous the entire 45. Will be interesting to see if the gooners come out differently- in either/both tactics and attitude.
  10. if phil does travel and play for brazil during the int'l break, **** him. if he truly wants to be off the 'pool CL roster so that he can play for Barca as a January transfer, **** him. take the £140m and run away from a bad situation. problem is who would they spend that $$ on that will help the team this season? as Barca and Liverpool have found (as both a buying and a resisting club), other clubs don't want to sell their stars, even for obscene fees. (if the reports are true) part of me wants FSG/Klopp to keep Phil and let him rot for the season if he doesn't buck up and act like a professional on the training ground. interesting article here that i read a couple days ago... https://tomkinstimes.com/2017/08/philippe-coutinho-fsg-and-game-theory/
  11. For he travel or to get out of the group stage?
  12. oh baby! feed went bad for a couple minutes there and came back with 2 more! looking forward to seeing those highlights...
  13. £101m up front-- in 101 annual payments of £1m. The last offer was crap- Barca used to getting their way. 'Pool's right to turn it down then and again. Honestly, if Phil wanted away, why sign an extension without a buyout 7 months ago. He knew Barca'd be calling soon. (same can be said for VVD-- I smell agents more worried about their % than their client.) tough to know what to believe though. Transfers are like a British soap opera. He signed a massive extension; now wants away for his dream club; but they manipulated him into acting surly; but he wants away again, this time for reals. lets go redmen! The spoils of Europe await!
  14. i'm very frustrated that klopp/fsg haven't been able to close the deal on their major targets. keeping phil is great, but man, that should just be business as usual in keeping your own best players. the squad is still thin in quality along the back, especially at CB. there also a lack of dynamism in the middle when phil and/or lallana are out. hendo, gini, and can all bring the same methodical play to the table... good to have that in your side, but not to entirely make up your midfield. we have speed to spare with mane and salah, and i love firminio, but we're lacking that true ruthless, clinical striker/finisher in the suarez mold (granted, he's world class and tough to replicate). i'd rather have someone that'll help the reds offensively than a constantly injured sturridge or ineffectual origi. FSG needs to stop playing the transfer game in the press. if it's them that's leaking, it's a massive flaw. if it's players' reps or selling teams, FSG need to be ruthless ****s, with their emissaries being good-guy pals that other clubs want to do business with . when negotiations go sideways, as they all do at some point, they then don't have to go scurrying around saving face. they seem to get it all wrong, end up bidding against themselves for a player that only wants to be in Red, and still failing to deliver the good. It frankly gives the image of being a mickey mouse operation. hell, if you aren't going to use him, sell Sakho for $20m (not the $30m you want for someone that is so deep in the dog house that his fleas have fleas) and boost the VVD and Keita offers by $10m each to get **** done. hell, i'd give southampton their fee plus Sakho to get the VVD deal done. why not? sorry. rant over. up the reds!
  15. Terrible defending once again, but yes, that was offsides.
  16. Reds are still in the boot room even at the half. So, so sloppy at every level of the pitch.
  17. Apologies to Hoffenheim in advance....
  18. So good, brother! maybe they'll make a magazine cover with it.
  19. i'd rather liverpool go after a player that they have a better shot at getting instead of mbappe... lacazette. i haven't seen any full games for lyon, so i'm only going by what i've seen posted online, but he looks like a pacey and aggressive scorer. other than the french connection at arsenal, who wouldn't rather play for klopp, especially if lacazette is looking to catch the eye of the french coach for the world cup.
  20. I like it too... getting greedy, I'd still like: van Dijk, Lacazette, a LB (Mendy?), and a midfielder. Will also likely need some depth at fullback. Would love for Liverpool to be a legit force in the market for developed world class players. I like that the front office likes to buy young and develop, but it isn't a completely zero sum game. The Reds can do both and be building a bright future while competing for hardware in the near term.
  21. excellent... there are over 5500 registered hospitals in the US. sounds like we're already saving money!
  22. Yeah- seeing as the eagles haven't ever won and Liverpool is one of the most decorated clubs in all of soccer- just fallen in hard times. Kinda like the REDskins. Hopefully fortunes change very soon for both soon! Yeah- seeing as the eagles haven't ever won and Liverpool is one of the most decorated clubs in all of soccer- just fallen in hard times. 23. Win and you're in, Redmen... Europe awaits!
  24. Saw those reports as well- sounded all but done in TAW but others were more cautious. Would be a sweet Brazilian triple headed monster.
  25. Couldn't agree more. I want a cold hearted killer up top. Sturridge could be that guy if he could stay healthy and were willing to run like Klopp wants him too. The Origi non-pass was frustrating. The reds were most dangerous when Suarez and Sturridge were taking turns being unselfishly selfish. Need more of that.
