Logan Thomas could have a big year with the underneath getting cleared out, he is very good with YAC and having less traffic around at the time of the catch will only increase his YAC.

WR is not a huge need any more but would still like to see a late round WR that can return punts in the draft while learning the position.

I get it, but was he making that much more than an UDFA? When it comes to a class act, reliable guy who is a big part of the punt/kicking game, not to mention message sent in reference to loyalty to a vet, is it the wise move? I really like the fact that there were no leaks from inside the building. Only way we were linked to Fitz was the fact that everyone knew we were looking for a QB. I dont recall anything from the media leading up to the signing. Refreshing and alludes to the fact that even if we are not being "linked" to a particular player it doesnt mean the FO isnt working behind the scenes to find available players at the right compensation.

To take it a step further Id argue that a couple of studs on offense through FA or draft (WR/TE/OL even RB), deceases the need for a higher tier QB. Id be fine rolling with a 2nd tire or Heinike at QB. Possibly draft a QB prospect in the later rounds to sit and learn.

Interesting to think about. I wonder how many 1st round "busts" would have been able to have a great career if allowed to sit for 3 years? Understanding 1st rounders are drafted because the team needs a QB right away and they don't have that luxury, where 3rd and 4th rounders normally can sit because there is normally an established QB in front of them. But those élite 1st rounders may have just needed a year or two to sit before starting before getting thrown tot he wolves on a bad team, which is usually the case for teams drafting top 3 or 4.

The thing is players also see Alex's limitations. They respect the hell out of him but also realize there is only so much he can do on the Football field and at some point they will not give it there all knowing that. Not to bring up Heinike again but the spark the team got from him was partly due to the players around him responding to the ability he showed. Smith has been given every opportunity to show what he is capable of. Unfortunately his physical limitations are glaring to everyone.

A little off topic but we really need to address punt and kickoff returner. Like to see this more as an area to target than what generally seems as an afterthought during training camp ( hey lets throw a couple guys out there and see who looks capable).
