  1. Right now, the Wiz have a superstar in the making in Wall. That could be enticing to a GM. More, they have a fair amount of cap space and flexibility. Basically, you aren't saddled with anyone except maybe Rashard Lewis. That means that you can create the team in your image without any real restrictions. That ought to be very attractive to a personell guy. On the other hand, looking at the Wiz roster you have almost nothing and you really are starting from zero. I mean besides Wall who's of worth? McGee maybe? Young? Could Booker and Cartier become something. This is really a scrapheap of a roster.
  2. Maybe McGee can take it but Blatch can't. Maybe Blatche is too emotionally fragile to handle public scrutiny. We've been talking about his "maturity" for a long time. This could be more evidence of that.
  3. The Wiz just need to get a little better at home. Imagine if they could win 90% of their home games they could be the first NBA team in history to go to the playoffs without winning a game on the road
  4. Whaddaya know. Boy this team tries hard to lose though. Cheese.
  5. If they lose that'll actually be pretty embarrassing. How do you lose a 8 point lead with 11 seconds to go?
  6. So, how many bonefide starters are on the Wizards? Wall seems to be one in the making. Is McGee, Young, Blatche, or Lewis starting material in the league or really do we have a team of back ups?
  7. I looked at their record today. It is the craziest one I think I have ever seen. 9-10 at home. Average, almost respectable. 0-15 on the road. Hopeless and pathetic beyond repair. How can it be that drastically different? Are NBA hoops different sizes in different arenas? Are the courts waxed differently?
  8. It's pretty incredible. A year ago, everyone was saying that this contract made Arenas completely untradable. Thanks for the good years, Gil. You gave us good, bad, odd, and outright strange times.
  9. There's a part of me that wonders if Wall's absence is because they're giving him the Stephen Strausberg treatment. Saying, he's a young kid. Let's be careful with him. Not wear him out. Groom him. Mind you, the Strasberg treatment didn't work out at all well for Strausberg
  10. Very cool. And even better news! Met up with him once or twince a few years back and I agree.
  11. Pretty cool. Congrats. Is this your company, Rince?
  12. Nice game by the Wiz and by the scoreboard it looks like they played some D
  13. Man, they really seemed to fall apart there at the end...based on what I heard on the radio. This team is so full of "almost"
  14. Are the Wiz trying to be the Redskins? What's up with this tie with twenty seconds to go?
  15. I have hated this thread for years. It's like the never ending curse and jinx. Can we close it? Pretty please.
  16. I like the Washington Taxmen or the Washington Revenuers... a name sure to strike fear into the heart of any modern professional athlete. For some reason, Minutemen in my mind belongs to Boston or at least New England. I do like the idea of a name that celebrates the United States though.
  17. Hey, how was your experience? Chipwich's offer was amazingly generous.
  18. What is it with Washington Teams and scores this year. Good grief.
  19. Not watching, but looking at box scores. How did the Wizards fall apart so completely?
  20. As they should have. It's a crazy thing to do and a worse thing to admit to. Doesn't he get it at all?
  21. I hope Arenas can break himself out of his funk. He's a good guy who did something very foolish. It's over and I don't think anyone harbors ill will towards him. Hopefully, a little success and little love will restore him. Right now, he sounds like a martyr. Pretty sad.
  22. After a year where her husband dies and everything else went wrong... this was pretty cool.
  23. Dean, You're musical experieces are definitely cool. I am envious of many of the acts you've been able to see. Kind of in that light. I met Chic Silber on Friday. Guy's 70 something and has an incredible history on Broadway. One of his first gigs was as a follow spot operator for the original West Side Story. He worked on the original Man of La Mancha, designed lights and the special effects for Amadeus, Dracula, Wicked etc. invented the fog machine which has been in predominant use on stage since the 70's. He's been a part of so much greatness... and he's just a humble, funny, cool guy.
