First Blood.  The man stitched his own big-ass wound.  To me, that was the most monumental acting..."I'm feelin' it, but I'm not."  Mental power.  God help me, it fed into me leaning toward the military after HS.

I didn't see Fast Times until after I graduated in '84, but that was a great movie...a teen's "issues" that were really quite serious from a female point of view, and all the comedy around it.
