  1. I said such high hopes for him but he just didn't get it done. He had some explosive moments last year but this year it's like he forgot what to do, or was just overlooked by the coaching staff. I would have liked to see more jet sweeps and stuff, but if the guy is costing you games because he's muffing punts and dropping passes, it's hard to WANT to get the ball in his hands more.
  2. oh i thought you meant we would take Rattler over Ridder in the 3rd. You were responding to the tweet, not my post.
  3. was just coming to post that.. There goes my 3rd round sleeper pick to WFT.
  4. Yeah. I appreciate his ferocity, but he has a tendency to take the big hit. There was another play early in the game where he broke the pocket and scrambled to the right, got the first down and about 8 yards later RIGHT along the sideline, he puts his shoulder down to finish the run. The defender got a smidge lower and hit him on the hip. His cleat stuck a little bit and the knee whipped awkwardly. He got up fine and didn't look hobbled, but 6 inches lower and he could be looking at an ACL injury. He had already gotten the first down so just stepped out of bounds. There was no reason to take on the defender at that point. Protect yourself, get the first down and get out of bounds or get down. it's not an indictment, just an observation. He's a gamer, but I hope he understands the balance.
  5. I GUESS if he's putting it on the pylon there is room but its still not exactly open with 3 defenders back there.
  6. I haven't looked at the replay real hard but in the moment, and the limited replays ESPN showed, it didnt look like there was anywhere to put the ball.
  7. Yeah it was. I don't think it was the best decision to make throwing it away TTHERE, but I get it. My bigger concern in the moment was that he was trying to force the ball, but I don't think that's the case. Had he not been in so much pain and wounded he likely breaks the pocket and makes a cleaner throw away or tries to get something done with his legs.
  8. unless he was trying to throw it away out of the back of the endzone.
  9. Chara stabilizes the defensive unit. I dont think we should expect him to be some scoring monster as much as he's gonna be more of a crease clearing presence. He'll also crash the boards a bit, but I can't imagine he's going to be an offensive factor.
  10. if we draft Toney we need to spend the whole offseason watching film on Tyreek Hill and integrate how he's used into our playbook. The role I was hoping we would have carved out for Steven Sims... but he's proven completely unreliable at this point.
  11. absolutely. Drafting Lance means wee don't know if he's the guy til likely the end of the 2022 season. In an ideal situation, Alex recovers (i have little confidence in this but I never thought we would be HERE so who knows) and Lance can Redshirt next season. Drafting lance at 19 and expecting him to start week 1 of 2021 would be a bad idea imho.
  12. its very fair, I am not at all trying to say he's not going to be a good QB, it's more that he's the biggest question mark. I worry about accuracy, experience, and level of competition. It's not that I think he's bad, it's just the old argument of "he may have the highest ceiling, but he could have the lowest floor."
  13. his talent potential is not lost on me And Lamar Jackson doesn't do it for me. I wonder how long he can do it, and I wonder if he'll ever be a good enough passer to get over the hump. The Ravens win their fair share of regular season games, but they may not even make the playoffs this year
  14. I want MORE QB needy teams ahead of us. The more QBs go before we're on the clock, the more likely a stud is falling.
  15. Very fair, maybe I should have worded it differently. Detroit has never been able to establish a run game to go with Stafford.
  16. ah, gotcha he also hasn't had a capable ground game behind him. In 2014 when they went 11-5 their leading rusher was Joique Bell... he ran for 860 yards with a 3.9ypc avg. He had 322 yards receiving so he had about 1100 yards TOTAL. Their next leading rusher was Reggie Bush with 297. That's less than 1200 yards combined. Staffords career and health likely looks a lot different on a team not named Detroit Lions.
  17. not sure if you're just going out of your way to argue against me and try to be condescending or what, but it makes no sense to me. Detroit has never invested in their run game to support Stafford. His leading rushers have been guys like Jahvid Best, Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick and Kerryon Johnson, who have struggled to reach 1000 yards for their CAREER, let alone a single season. Stafford has been asked to win and win alone, he gets destroyed back there and people wonder why he often plays injured.
  18. Says who? They're not good enough to win with Stafford so who says they're going to transition? New HC likely wants his guy and they're likely picking top 10 in the draft. Currently they pick 11th but Dallas plays Philly this weekend and Detroit plays Tampa today. Either Dallas or Philly will have 9 losses at the end of the weekend and Lions will likely have 10. Giants play Eagles next weekend and Lions play Vikings, so it's likely Lions pass 2 NFCE teams in draft order by the end of the season. Their young QB may be drafted....
  19. Exactly. We may have a 2 year window here with this D-line that could be good enough and Rivera may see that.
