Babe Alert ... ahem

Having closely inspected the "Babe Alert" thread below (I believe in being thorough), and wondering if Big Brother Fed will be calling on me soon as a result of it, I feel compelled to say something about it. I'm doing it via separate thread for the very reason that someone downtown IS in fact very likely to see that one of the linked sites to the thread is "xxxporn-babes.com" and quite likely trigger an automated response of unknown variety from the FCC or NSA or FBI or some such. I won't go back to that thread ... at least not until I'm safely ensconced at home again.

Maybe it would serve me right if this becomes my last post ever from my work computer.

That established ... thought I'd play the old curmudgeoun for a moment and suggest that "the line" – if not yet crossed already – is perilously close underfoot. Nipples are one thing (two, actually), but the inevitable foray into the bush, and/or "participatory images" that the administrative forebearance shown to date doubtlessly encourages, cannot be far, um, behind.

Much as I hate to see clothing introduced where not absolutely necessary, I think at least a cursory nod to moderation and self-policing is appropriate. I'm guessing we don't want to have to slap a "Warning: if you are less than 18 years old ..." disclaimer on the front page.

Nobody wants to be a stick in the mud, me included ... but there it is.

While not one to usually call for clothing, my idea of a "babe thread" on this board was more along the lines of sexy images of scantily clad or somewhat modest (by comparison) nude shots ... think Maxim, Stuff or Gear magazines as opposed to Playboy or Penthouse. While I can certainly appreciate the aesthetics of the more recent posts, it would be nice to not have to worry about the content of ANY thread being appropriate for other eyes at work or at home.

I work for the Department of Justice.....and I am scared to death of that string.

1. I know the check our comps. on a regular basis.

2. Very important people may walk by and see it

3. It'll be kind of strange if they caught me - here we are trying to stop alot of that stuff but our own workers are accessing it? Can you say Hypocrite.

Yeah, I worried a bit when I pulled up that thread here at work. I closed it real quick. I'd hate to lose internet privledges and have to reduce my web brousing time to at home time.

None of you should be foolish enough to open a thread called "Babe Alert" at work if you are in danger of being caught by cyber snooping government machines. Om, I hear your thought that nipples will lead to something else and I had to remove something else from that thread.

That thread was clearly more over the top than any we've seen and I'm not sure whether to shut it down, or encourage it. But, either way that type of thing breaks, if you see a thread like that in which the title alone suggests possible pictures within, wait until you get home before touching that thing.

If you don't, it's not this board's, or that poster's fault you got busted. It's your own. We have been good about keeping this type of thread from blowing up in every other thread, but, when you get them like they were in that thread, then you enter at your own risk and reward .

Don't misunderstand -- all I'm trying to do is encourage a bit of circumspection here (and I ain't talking medical procedures).

Just one more thought, then I promise to let it go. There are kids among us. I know this, because I spoke to a 13 year old who loves her Redskins, and told me she heard about this site from a friend at school.

Anyway ... that's what I was thinking when I broached the subject. I'm done, now.

To me, the real issue isn't whose fault it might be if caught looking, but rather is that what we want on the board? Seems there's plenty of places to go for that stuff, is it really necessary to devote space here for it?

I realize the lengths the mods go to not censor or prohibit much of anything save for the most idiotic Poke fans. Don't want to infringe on the fun, anyone's freedom of speech or expression, or anything else. I'm not a prude, I like eye candy as well as anyone ... more than most probably. Hell, I've posted some nice (though tamer) shots myself. It does seem like it's time, however, for a clear understanding from our esteemed admins for just what is acceptable and what, if anything, is not.

Honestly, I'd rather not have it altogether. I can live with pics like the ones in Maxim, etc... but the ones with nipples and g-strings are a little much. Can you please just post links to those photos where more skin is exposed?

I've been taking a breather from admin duties lately... and just letting things be while letting others do their job. But I felt I had to weigh in on this topic. And you asked

For what it's worth Om Brave,and D.H agree with you. I certainly enjoy the posters on the wall as much as the next guy and threads like that can be as good a tension breaker here in Tailgate as anything else,(especially in combination with ). I humbly submit the Maxim scale of rating the picture posts.

I have no problem with adhering to the Maxim model and avoiding pics displaying "unmentionable bits." However, I now have a new question: In light of some individuals here having issues with pictures in threads like Babe Alert coming from sites such as "xxxporn-babes.com," does this mean that images of porn starlets -- even if said starlets are properly clothed -- are also verboten?
