monkey66
Pretty good list... Top 6 were: 6. The Natural 5. Caddyshack 4. Bull Durham 3. Field of Dreams 2. Raging Bull 1. Hoosiers The Natural should have been higher. Raging Bull is clearly a better film than Hoosiers, but Hoosiers is a better story so I guess that's why it was #1. SI had a 50 best sports films list a few months back and The Natural didn't even make the list... :puke:

Lone Star Skin Fan
The Natural, Hoosiers, and the Longest Yard are the best baseball, basketball, and football movies ever made, IMHO. Field of Dreams and Bull Durham are not better than the Natural
section 130
This list was horrible. How can you say that Finding Forrester is in the top 25? How can you put Bend it like Beckham above Rudy? I really don't remember Finding Forrester even being a sports movie. Miracle was not on this list, neither was For Love of the Game. But Bend it like Beckham made the list. Horrible ESPN absolutley horrible.
afparent
Where was Rocky I? It did win an oscar and it was one of the most popular movies of the time. You can talk all you want about Rocky II-V, but Rocky I was a classic!

TheDoyler23
I'm glad to see that Caddyshack got some respect @ #5. I think Hoosiers would be almost a consensus #1 pick. Movies like Jerry Macguire, Cobb, and Finding Forrester aren't really sports movies.
RabidFan
anybody ever see Phar Lap....that was a great horseracing flick....i've heard both good and bad things about Seabiscuit but his lore probably took him to the list alone. Bull Durham is funny but can't hold Field of Dreams or The Natural's jock....the first major league is closer to bull durham than durham is to the FOD or Natural IMO.... AJWatson3
i can't believe they had jerry macguire as a sports movie? and this list proves one thing: we are still waiting for the ultimate football movie. when i move down to richmond my friend and i are going to start one. ideas have been formed. decisions have been made. Kilmer17
Was I hearing things, or right before they announced number 1, didnt Stewart Scott say something about inspiring 4 sequals? I thought it was going to be Rocky as well. Didnt think about the timeline part.
Nighthawk
Where's Lucas on this list. If Jerry Macguire can be listed as a sports movie then Lucas should have made the top 25.

jbooma
Why all the hate on Jerry Maguire??? It produced two of the most popular phrases we use today: 1. Show me the MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2. You had me at hello  The comment about Any Given Sunday, was a joke right, sarcasim, something like that right, please
section 130
They obvoisly gave the fans a list of the same 25 movies and had them vote on them. There is no way that Finding Forrester or Bend it Like Beckham would be on there.
gridironmike
Yeah, their experts voted on the same list the fans did, but the fans are more in line with reality if you ask me.
