Skyward72
Anyone know if any decent D-line players will be released June 1? D-Line still appears to be our weakest point.
redskns21
Maske mentioned in his chat on washingtonpost.com that Joe Johnson (DE) GB and Hugh Douglas (DE) of JAX might be released come June 1st. It was the first tme I'd heard Douglas's name pop up but not the first time I've Johnson's. http://discuss.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/zforum/04/sp_sports_maske042604.htm
apickmans
Just wondering, how old is Hugh Douglas and you guys think he can play up to the level he did in philly? Personally I still think hes got a little something left in the tank. I wouldnt mind a 2-3 year contract with incentives.
Cskin
Did Josh Evans of the Jets resolve his issues with the club? And.. was his issues related to recreational drugs or more the supplemental kind?
Skins26
Albert Haynesworth had that fight with Ficsher and then they drafted a bunch of D Line, so maybe....... but we really dont have the money for that, we gotta sign our picks!

Our Salary pool wont be more than 1.5 mil and and who knows, we may actually be able to convince Samuels to restructure. But I dont expect them to add anyone to the squad after June 1st, unless a Daryl Gardener type player is cut.
RedskinsMarchingBand
I thought Daryl Gardener was going to be released june 1st? if so he would be a GREAT addidtion, he is the only major thing we are missing from that year we had teh 5th ranked defense. JeffSchmeff
Sonny J was on with George Michael at 6 and touched on the D line. He said we still had to get pressure on the QB, and George asked whether the signing of Mike Barrow would fix that. Sonny replied that he will help against the run, but that we had to get pressure from the line. He followed that up by saying slyly "we have a plan for that though". He had a sneaky smile on his face, so I think he knows something we don't. :2cents:  (always wanted to use this smiley)
I.M. Fletch
Washington wouldn't sign Douglas to a 2-3 year deal with incentives...they would sign him to a 6 year deal worth 35 million dollars...
bnacpa
Douglas is too old and doesn't have it any more ... that is why he didn't stick at Jacksonville. What about Tony Brackens, the guy from New York (forget his name ... DE - not Strahan but the other one), and this guy Johnson from Green Bay. Does anyone think that any of them have the potential to be any good? The other idea is that we could trade Gardner to the Jets for John Abraham. They need receivers and we need pass rushers. Would anyone make this deal?
redskns21
I'd trade Gardner for Abraham anytime. New York wouldn't though, Bradway isn't that stupid.
bnacpa
The thing is that they are now experimenting with Abraham .. they are moving him to LB. This is not his natural position and he can't be happy considering that he was effective, when healthy, at playing DE. They also have some cap issues with him and there were rumors late last year that he may only have 1 year left with the team before he is too expensive. I don't know where that stuff stands, but with Chrebet almost out of there due to concussion problems ... they need a proven receiver and Garnder could be the ticket. That isn't a reach and the drafting of the future tackles, maybe, will convince Samuels to reconsider. Its not that other teams don't like Samuels, its that his asking price, even lowered if leaving the Skins, may be way too high. He can only get that kind of money from Snyder or Jerry Jones. Hynesworth is good enough to at least allow the line to play very solid and consistant every week, even in a playoff run.
Kosher Ham
Chrebet signed a restructured deal this year with a concussion clause. Abraham will be a UFA after this season so the Skins would have to pay top dollar if they wanted him. And The Jets signed WR Justin McCariens from the Titans. I dont think they would take Gardner, when they have Moss, Chrebet, and JMac. Bradway is that stupid though. So you never know.
skinamatic
I dont think we have the cap money to do it. Only way I see it happening is Via trade.
