prophet
The question is did New Orleans keep the better back?
prophet
IMO deuce brings more to the table than ricky :2cents:
@DCGoldPants
Right now I'd take either one in a heartbeat. Gun to my head. Ricky
halter91
Deuce is more versitile but Ricky is a better runner. Reminds me of a Riggo. Duece is more like a quick back, although he more pwerful than Faul or Henry! I'd take either in the Burgundy and Gold.
J33Edwards
I agree I would take either...but for some reason I like Duece a little better
Phat Hog
Ricky Williams in a minute.... you want a catch out of the backfield, throw to the TE!
AJWatson3
had to go with deuce, he can really get around the corner with his speed... and he is still a load to bring down.
jbooma
We can have or own Deuce if we select Williams from Auburn in the draft
xanathos19
Deuce in a second...Ricky isn't consistent...too many 30 carry, 56 yard outings.
TankRizzo
If I were building a team from the ground up I'd take Ricky just because I prefer his style of running over McAllister. But honestly, it's a win/win situation, both are excellent backs.
Troy Fakeman
All i have to say...is gj drafting Skip Hicks over Ahman Green gg
Bang
I like Williams' low center of gravity. ~Bang
SonnyJ
I like Deuce. He's big, can log carries, and take it the distance. Great combo of size, speed, and hands.
Stricknine
Ive loved Deuce since his Ole Miss days. Never liked Ricky Williams all that much. Dont know why just dont.
bulldog
McAllister is a better bet at this point. He is younger and a very good receiver as well as runner. He also doesn't seem to have the off the field problems that Ricky had earlier in his career.
chiefhogskin48
This isn't even close... McAllister by a mile. This question makes me green with envy, though. It seems like eons ago that we had a top caliber back, eh Bulldog? I reckon 'Ole Ballcoach didn't think a probowl back fit his magical system. :puke:
Big Easy
I honestly thought this was a joke thread when I saw it. There's no comparison. Deuce is faster, more explosive, breaks more tackles, doesn't go down as easy, is more durable, catches it better and doesn't fumble. Now I'm influenced a little by the fact that Ricky is a much better back now than he was when we had him here. He's leaner and faster now. The comparison between the Saints Ricky and Deuce is one on which no reasonable minds could differ. But even now, I don't think it's even close. One's a solid pack mule and the other one's a thoroughbred. Ricky's a good back if you have a strong defense and a good O-line and you want to control clock and pound it. But Deuce is a guy who can pound it all day and then take it 80 yards to the house while running over your Mike linebacker and then jetting by your DBs. No contest. If you guys could watch Deuce every week, you'd all be with me on this one.
Flowtrain
Ricky was only truly dominant in 1 season out of 5. But Deuce has put together 2 straight outstanding seasons - and the biggest determining factor - he's only getting better. Deuce's career average is 4.6 yards, compared to Ricky's 4.0. The Saints were lucky that Ricky peaked in the season he did. It resulted in their conditional pick getting bumped to a first rounder, in addition to the original first rounder they had already received. Duke
I'd chose Duece. He should fit in SS system smoother than Ricky due to his better catching ability. BTW, if there is no system involved, I still like Duece...
BG
That's a good question, because anyone would have gone with Ricky out of the draft. Deuce was no where on the boards in the first round of that draft...........
Big Easy
Not sure you can say "nowhere" on the boards. The Saints did take Deuce with their #1, which was I believe the 22nd pick that year.
