With regard to Jesus representations, frankly, I'm not sure what he was.  I mean, what race is "Holy Spirit?"

He's half ME descent via his mother, half Holy Spirit.

And who knows, maybe it was some weird Asari-esque thing where the HS can mate with any species but it'll ultimately look like the Holy Spirit.

 

Being serious, cultural appropriation is one of those annoying issues where the line on what's okay and not is different for different people.  What circumstances and characteristics are okay to portray and which ones aren't, and for what reasons are they portrayed (parody, historical, stereotyping, etc.), are not uniform to all people.  Blackface is generally accepted as bad, but parody/social commentary use of it as in Tropic Thunder isn't met with opposition.

It's a tough issue.
