Wheeler, 24, signed on with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Miami last May. He lasted just a few months with the team before he was waived and later claimed by the Buffalo Bills.

 

Unfortunately for Wheeler, he was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and wasn’t added to a team’s practice squad.

 

Seattle later signed Wheeler to a contract this past March, but he was once again cut loose shortly after the draft.

“At Least Half A Dozen” Have Inquired About Evan Mathis Since He Was Cut http://bit.ly/1BegpGS  #NFL

 

Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for free agent G Evan Mathis, mentioned on his weekly WQAM segment that “at least half a dozen” teams inquired his client following his release on Thursday.

 

However, Rosenhaus declined to say which teams expressed interest in Mathis.

 

“Until a player visits with a team, clubs like to keep their interest on the down low,” Rosenhaus said.

 

Overall, Rosenhaus expects there to be “a lot of interest” in Mathis, but they still plan to take their time to find the best possible situation for him.

I may be a homer, but he's at least  top ten back. Largely because he is a steady Eddie upon whom you can rely on getting consistent yardage. Not great at pass blocking or receiving, but with a lead he can be counted on to get the tough yardage to run out the clock. He deserves the accolades he's received thus far. Not easily replaced, we've just begun to take him for granted. There are a lot of teams who would love to have him.
