Is this who you want to spend your scholarships on? He came to a camp performed well and the staff evaluated him. Apparently, they feel he's worthy of an offer. Time will tell if they were correct. To put it in context let's look at DJ Turner. A WR/DB from DeMatha who was also unranked when he committed to Maryland. And you know what's happened since? He's gone various to camps and kicked ass and he's now a 4-star Another example: Ty Johnson showed up to a camp last year unranked and ran a blistering 40 time. He was offered and committed to Maryland on the spot. He's now a mid-to upper 3 star recruit. Heck, I didn't even mention Caleb Rowe (MD's likely starting QB). You guessed it...another camp offer. Not saying this will be the case with this guy but the rating services are slow (at times) to recognize talent. I'm not the biggest Edsall fan but if you look at his background (at UCONN in particular) he's made a living of taking lowly rated guys and turning them into players. What you'd like to see is him do that effectively at Maryland while also adding some top tier talent. Woodson (D.C) defensive back Parnell Motley gave his commitment to Maryland coach Randy Edsall tonight after attending the Terps' 'Big Show' recruiting event. Motley had been more strongly considering several others schools until a recent surge by Maryland, which grabbed its 14th commitment when the local cornerback committed. Motley, a three-star prospect, chose Maryland over offers from Michigan State, Rutgers, Clemson, Georgia, Miami and others.
