GrimReaper21
I really hope we get Rod Jones. He is a very good player who can play guard and tackle. He is a massive blocker and is a much better player than Tony Semple in my opinion.
JoeSkins
I think we're planning to get them both, which would make our o-line better than it was last year, I think, anyway...
NavyDave
Rod Jones and Semple?

So does that mean Brandt is still the backup Center Guard?

Hmm depth at two spots and Tucker should be the back up tackle

[ March 28, 2002, 10:34 PM: Message edited by: NavyDave ]
Art
Last year when Rod Jones was an available free agent I begged for us to go get him. I love this guy and the fact that he is a very solid player at either the tackle position or the guard spot. He would be a splendid person to acquire if at all possible. I like him much more than Semple. It's starting to come together.
indyskinsfan
I remember that Art. We also had tackle in mind I can't remember that too well, but we didn't keep him. I spent so much time checking him out, I plum forgot about Jones.

I had a list printed out from KFFL or CBSSportsline, not sure, of the available FA and their position.

Wow all this forgetting is making me look like I was, well you know,
BCS:BraveCaringSoul
Jones and Semple would be a dream come true. An o-line with talent and depth at ALL positions.

Mendes for exec of the year!
djsyra
I don`t tkink we would be hurt by giving Sage a real chance at the job, he has been here for while now so lets use him and see if he clicks off some good games for us.
I have not heard, but can anyone tell me as to how we are doing as to signing Carter for the backup behind Davis. In my opinon its no question but to sign him. Brave
Carter may be looking for a starting job and a bigger contract based on his decent (if limited) job on the field last season. If there are no takers we might get him back, but we won't outbid anyone for him.

[ March 29, 2002, 08:21 PM: Message edited by: Brave ]
Tommy-the-Greek
Rod Jones is a solid lineman. His ability to play guard or tackle would make him an outstanding acquistion. http://www.nfl.com/players/3751_bios.htm Sorry you have to cut and paste because I am a pc dummy. indyskinsfan
To attract Carter, is give him the money to buy momma's new home (150,000 extra) and offer incentives that escalate to $500,000 and a bonus of $750,000 covered over two to three years, with a base of $650,000.

Potential: 2.655 to 3.7 million contract.

[ March 30, 2002, 05:15 PM: Message edited by: indyskinsfan ]
bulldog
I don't think the staff wants Carter or Westbrook back unless it is a BARGAIN for the team. The Skins are not going to give bonuses to any of the ex-Redskins that are out there in free agency.

Look at who we have signed so far.

Only Lockett, who was set to be released, was able to get a reprieve.

We didn't make competitive offer for Raymer, Alexander or Lang.

Barber was perhaps the only one that the team even continued to negotiate with once they started to receive other offers.
