Because most people that I know actually do believe in free will, but I don't know anybody that has "seen" free will (seen not just in the literal sense of w/ eyes, but an explanation for real free will that doesn't requiring some level of "faith" (in something)).

I have a hard time finding a logical consistency between I believe I have free will, and I don't believe in things that can't be "seen".
