Unfortunately the fairness that the league enjoys is governed through... collective bargaining. Everyone, the owners, players, coaches, sign off on the rules that govern fairness. Without a collective bargaining agreement, the league would be a free market like every other industry in the country. If the Redskins and Cowboys didn't violate any of the rules of fairness listed in the CBA, then the league can't just make up new rules that it wishes it had included. The Leagues actions prove that it's not about fairness at all. They admit that the Redskins/Cowboys did nothing wrong, but take back the cap space anyway. If it was about fairness and restoring the "competitive balance" then that would be the end of it. Job accomplished, right? The money is "equal" again (even though the lowballers didn't lose the money they were under the cap bottom). Except that wasn't the end of it. The league also went ahead and gave 28 teams the equivalent of the exact same "Unfair Advantage" that they are punishing the Redskins and Cowboys for. They turned 2 teams "League Approved" so called unfair advantage (even though other teams were LEGALLY doing it too) and turned it around and removed it and gave it to 28 other teams instead 2 years later 1 day before it was time to start spending money. :chair: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
