Thinking Skins
I guess we all know who's won this battle. If we're going by the first game, I'd definately give the start to Betts next week and let coles and Morton come in occasionally.

Brave
Betts ... easily. Canidate didn't look bad, but Betts hits the holes better and seems to have better instincts. More than makes up for being a little slower than Canidate.
Skins23
Betts probably will get the start but I'd expect much of the same next week with the hot runner getting the carries.
laurent
Candidate came back and had some nice runs in the second half of the game but overall there's no doubt in my mind that Betts is the better of the two running backs. Now could everybody please shut up about Wattson being a better back than Betts please?
paul55
Betts wins. Much quicker than I imagined.

panel
Part if the sucess may have been because of the change up of styles, 1st shifty speedy Canidite, then harder running Betts. I think that the switch up is a good plan.
gridironmike
As long as we win, I like it that we're able to experiment with both backs. Lost in the performance was the play calling...I thought Spurrier called one hell of a game.
swissarmy47
agreed - i say do the same thing. i like the switch up of the two styles. together they ran for 125 yds - averaging like 4.5 or so per rush. sounds good to me! what about ramsey at tailback and gardner at qb? ha! CanadaRam
Good win for the skins. Tonight was classic trung. Slow to hit holes, mental errors (missed blocking assignment ) and a couple of decent runs. The only thing that was missing were the fumbles. Bowen will be your best former ram this season. Skins26
Betts still just stands there when the hole isnt there! Canidate makes something happen! Canidate looked awesome late in the game! He almost broke a couple. But here's what I'm saying! It worked, SO WHY CHANGE!!! WHY PICK ONE, keep rotating them Canidate gets 2 series, Betts gets 2! Why change something that worked, they were always fresh and they both got the job done!!! I still like Trung more though, Betts earned more respect from me tonight becuase he did a really great job, but i still like Trung more.

I'd just run Betts more in the first half to wear down the defense and then throw in a combo of Betts and Candidate in the second half, with a mixture of Morton in both halfs. Its gonna be a nice season.

donallus
Well, Spurrier said he was going to run the ball more this year. For the Gun part of this offense to work we need to sustain drives and a sound running game does that. In the second quarter Betts was impressive running behind the left guard and tackle and that threat made the D play honest. It set up all that Nutty Coles goodness. It looks like the fun n gun should be renamed the run n gun. I expect if the Skins can stay in games we'll see the hot runner get 15 to 20 carries and the day's number two will get 8 to 15. Betts and Canidate may tandem all year as the 49ers do with Barlow and Hearst. Both backs took care of the ball, and I thought Betts showed good awareness trying to get back to cover the fumble. Each back was over 4 yards per carry so they'll get good grades for tonight. Their different styles seemed to keep the Jets off guard. In the 4th quarter Trung was getting good yards on cutbacks after the Jets had gotten conditioned to chasing the road grader Betts up the middle. doubledeuce
Betts deserves the start, but Spurrier should keep mixing it up with Canidate. Let them push each other all year.
Oldskool
Ladell Betts 18 attempts 77yards 4.3YPC Trung Canidate 10 attempts 46yards 4.6YPC I think we keep this 2 headed monster going
Oldskool
34 rushes to only 23 pass attempts. this is the balance that we lacked last year. I LOVE IT!
laurent
How about we line up Ramsey in I formation, his 13.5 yard rushing average is nothing to joke about :rotflmao:

DougWilliams
Betts sure looked good! Trung looked great at times in teh second half--- i was holding my breath, but he held on to the ball. I'm very happy with the running game. Seems like our O-line is better at that right now...
