Search Warrant Executed on JMU Student Newspaper

A Virginia Commonwealth attorney obtained copies of photographs taken of the JMU "Springfest" disturbance after law enforcement served a search warrant on the offices of "The Breeze," JMU's twice weekly newspaper, presumably to help identify individuals involved in criminal activity. The paper took hundreds of photos of the riot.

Panel To Study Riot Images

Task Force Includes State, Local Agencies

Harrisonburg Daily News Record

By Pete DeLea

A task force composed of local and state law enforcement will review video footage and photographs from the April 10 riot near James Madison University.

Mary-Hope Vass, public information officer for the Harrisonburg Police Department, said several agencies are teaming up to go through the photos and videos to identify people committing crimes during the alcohol-fueled frenzy.

"To go through all those...it is somewhat time consuming" said Vass, who added that task force members will look at video police shot during the incident along with video and images posted on various web sites.
