Tazhog
On 4th down, you don't run the obvious "money" play. U run a play to catch the defense sleeping. Just like SuperBowl XVII... 4th and inches, Riggins runs over left tackle for 43 yards and the Lombardi Trophy! the entire planet knew it was coming:)
NorEastNCFan
Pro bowl left tackle and little faith in the rest of the line, that's why they ran left.
JACKPOTSKINS
They need to fire Zorn!
Burgold
You know what. I don't care. You are payed to beat someone. You are paid handsomely to be elite. Make a play! In Gibbs I, people knew where Riggo was going. Riggo got there more times than not. At some point, you've got to out execute and not try to outcute. You've got to be better, tougher and more determined. There's no reason why our o line and our elite rb should be stopped. If that's the strength of our oline than we should be able to get that damn yard. No excuses. Get it done. Be better and quit whining.
Fan035
Don't give up. If Portis trys it enough, maybe by the 10th game, the play will work.
DixieFlatline
Chick Hernandez quoted a source who overheard CP. He supposedly said it when he got to the sideline after the failed 4th down play. Yeah, and I thought it was in reference to last week. Wasn't the quote actually, 'why run wide?' when you only need a yard.
stinkpalmd
I feel the need to point out that, although Portis can put together some nice consistent games, I can't tell you how many times we have all seen him get slightly tripped up and fall to the ground like a sack of potatoes. A RB with more coordination and shear desire to get into the endzone? Who knows...
whatmeworry
Does the WCO offense not have the quarterback sneak in their playbook? How about the bootleg right?
Mackdaddydean
Why not just leap over the pile. That's the hardest goal line run play to stop and we never do it.
jnhay
];6810723']Every single poster on this board knew we were gonna run left every time we got in the Red Zone last week.We talked about it all week. So why' date=' why, WHY did Jim Zorn call a left off tackle run on 4th and Goal?[/quote'] I'm surprised he didn't call a flee-flicker.
Skinsinparadise
Zorn says its their best play in short yardage, so I guess he sticks to it, but aren't you supposed to go against tendencies at times to FOOL the opponent.

No, you must run the same play over and over.
