veteranskinsfan
On tonight's Monday Night game, Brees looks like an All-Pro. The Redskins could have signed Brees before New Orleans did. San Diego made it clear to other teams they were not going to keep him. What do you think our record would be this season if we had Brees at quarterback? He is very mobile unlike JC. Our boy JC outplayed Brees in DC back in Week 2. :point2sky

NOVA2Tampa
The Saints scored a TD to make it 51-29, and tie the record for the most points ever scored by the Saints. All they had to do was kick the extra point and they would have the record. They went for two and failed. What Vegas shaving horse manure. KICK THE FREAKING PAT!!! Think of the situation at the time dude. We had just drafted a young guy in the first round, and we were coming off of a playoff berth. Brees had been released because he had shoulder surgery, and it wasn't certain that he'd recover. In fact, Miami opted to trade for Daunte Culpepper instead of signing Brees to the big contract he was looking for. It would've made absolutely zero sense to sign Brees.
CM916
The Saints should look into playing in the AFL this upcoming season with those numbers. There is an opening since their sister team inexplicably folded despite great attendence.
Redskins:Victory_or_Death
Gee, maybe we should have traded all our picks and drafted Peyton Manning. Think how good we'd be then! While we're at it, let's imagine we all have million dollar lives and million dollar wives.

DCSaints_fan
Oh, and by the way, Brees wasn't going to go to D.C.. He had just come off a situation where he was playing ahead of a top draft pick. Do you think he would want to put himself in the same situation w/r/t Campbell? Do you think he would want to put himself in the same situation w/r/t Campbell? Hahah it's okay dude, we all know this. Some people just like to think that anything that can be done in Madden is feasible. For example: Hey Saints! I'll trade you Colt Brennan, Santana Moss, and Marcus Washington for Drew Brees! You're getting three players and your trade agreement bar is green! Will you accept said trade??? Glad to see you guys playing well dude. Bress is defintely one of my favorite non Redskins players and it's always cool to see him light up another team (as long as it's not the Skins). SteveFromYellowstone
Drew Brees is the best quarterback in the NFL. Period. How does he make such nobodies phenomenal players? I wish we had him.

I wish we had him. I agree Brees is very good and he is in the running for MVP this year. I think the other posts have ignored the fact that many times if you can acquire a good veteran quarterback then you do so and let the draft pick guy wait his turn. The Jets went out and got Favre and in Phoenix they went with Warner instead of the guy from USC.

fire3fighter4
We would be a much better team without a doubt...anybody who would try to argue that Campbell is as good as Brees is a moron...Brees is on his way to being on the level of P. Manning and Tom Brady.
ntotoro
This stuff is pointless. There were also a couple dozen other teams who "missed out" on him. We'll be hear all-year if you wanna' talk about every player like that.

For years our general managers have passed on opportunities to make our team even better so when they do not make a specific deal there is nothing wrong with pointing out where they missed the boat. Here is another point- do you ever notice how other NFL teams sign our local college players but the Skins rarely sign any local college talent. Just one example- Boomer Esiason. How many SB's did Boomer win during his day compared to our three QB's? You could say the same about the other teams. They don't all get local players. Other than Merriman, the local schools aren't exactly making the league wonder where they came from. Every other team in the league passed on Brees as a FA, too. Regardless, you can't just plug in a guy and expect him to have success. He was coming off one good season and a shoulder injury at the time, so let's not act as if he was a sure thing.
