Golgo-13
Here is a little something on Bowen. To be honest this kind of reeks of a left-handed compliment to me (for a fat girl, you don't sweat much).: According to some scouts, the Redskins' best signing this offseason was getting Packers safety Matt Bowen. The Packers chose not to match the offer, which means the Redskins will have to give up a sixth-round pick to get Bowen. He is a physical safety who can also play on the majority of special teams and the type of player who can stay on the field for 100 plays. He runs better than most think, which should help the Washington pass defense. So, of all the high-profile signings the Redskins have made so far, a little-used safety might be their best. bulldog
the safety position has been aching for just solid play for YEARS. if Bowen can start and just do a solid consistent job for us I will be doing handstands come November

@DCGoldPants
the important thing here is that he's signed and part of the team early. He has many months to lift with the team and learn the system.
BCS:BraveCaringSoul
from the same article... Is Stephen Davis the answer to the Panthers running back troubles? He is a good, serviceable back who can get the tough yards, but is he a game-breaker? No way. That's why Davis didn't get the $5 million a year deal he was seeking. Carolina gave him a $2.5 million signing bonus on the deal, which isn't bad. Ideally, the Panthers would love to have Davis competing with DeShaun Foster or sharing time. Foster is coming off microfracture surgery on his knee, but the team expects him back this year. The Texans were also interested in Davis, but they have essentially the same type of player in Jonathan Wells. Look for the Texans to now take a back at some point early in the draft, perhaps in the second round.
Cskin
Isn't it funny how that now Davis has been released the mediots now acknowledge he isn't a "breakaway" back and that he wasn't worth $5mil signing bonus. When he was with us, he was described as a game changer and pro bowl back with the heart of a lion. Now he's just a power back who will have to split time with oft-injured Foster and is likened to Jonathan Wells of the Texans. Eff the media!!!!! Nope, that description arose once it was clear he was LEAVING us.
redman
We haven't had a noteworthy safety since Alvin Walton was in his prime. I'm not sure that Bowen is such a safety either, but if he can play solidly, I won't complain. Our strengths on defense are at LB and CB anyway. NavyDave
Stop hating on S Davis like he wasnt a difference maker in the wins we had while he was here. S Davis wasnt playing strong(?) safety, DT who best moment was a fight over Samsonite, or had three consecutive offensive geniuses that ignored him and the interior o line This isnt the Jets message board where they slam Coles as not being all that when it appears he is gone. Bowens sounds like a great move and if he and Iffy can man both FS and SS together this may be a very good combo. I still wish we could get that Safety that runs a 4.3 40 and say good bye to Terrell and Lott
