  1. 1. Do we need a DT?

    • Yes, if the BPA at 21 is a DT, take him.

    • Yes, but get Dre Moore or someone else 2nd round (possibly trade up).

The Brunell lottery:Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell is scheduled to visit the Saints Tuesday to be considered for a possible backup job. Several teams have inquired about Brunell, but the Saints, who were actively looking at Trent Green, seem to be among the most aggressive in looking at Brunell. Brunell has been training hard. He's lost about 10 pounds, and he's working hard on strengthening his legs.

The Packers are one of the teams considering Brunell. They have to make a decision now that Brett Favre retired. Do they want an experienced hand like Brunell or do they want a quarterback in his fourth or fifth year to back up Aaron Rodgers? General manager Ted Thompson is thinking through that question.

The Saints will host Mark Brunell for a free agent visit on Tuesday.

With the Saints losing out on Trent Green to St. Louis, it appears they feel Brunell is the next best option available. The 37-year-old should be cheap.

No offense to Mark,

but clearly this is a sign of the lack of QB talent in the NFL when a decent QB (when he was in his prime) who has radically declined from starter to 3rd string is in such high demand. This makes me realize 2 things:

1. No wonder Coach Zorn and Vinny stressed the re-signing of Todd Collins and this was a HUGE move since Collins actually has to be considered one of the better #2 QBs in the league.

2. Gotta think somebody will take a shot with Jeff George and am a bit suprsised that a team hasn't yet.

And there's not much in QB talent in the upcoming draft either.......

Isn't that the truth. I would have never figured that at the beginning of the season.

With T Green signing with the Rams, Marks best option would be going back to Green Bay , Rogers slips and make big mistakes they may turn to him early in the season for help.

Its cold up in Green Bay, when you get old your bones can't take that cold. :silly:

Brunell still has some fumes in the tank and he's had a year to recover a bit from how banged up he got in '06. He's a great cheap option if you only need him for a game or two and thus, a good backup option, actually one of the best in this sparse market. The 40-yard pass he threw in one of the preseason games convinced me he could still sort of throw.

Just because he's of no further use to us doesn't mean he's worthless. He actually might have still been here if not for the surprise that was Collins' resurgence.
