dustinwhylee
Just my opinion, but I think the offensive line should be addressed before the defensive line. EDIT: I also think that it's more likely to happen now that Zorn's in charge. I see the point him possibly wanting to draft "his" QB. But I'd think he understands the importance of protection. Forever21
I really don't see how Campbell falls to 21. Don't get me wrong I completely want him to. But especially after the Giants beat the Pats with a crushing pash rush I can't see Campbell falling that far.
Oldskool
1st round Any DE but Campbell please. ACC player, and a tweener that had a monster junior year and an ok senior year against sub-par competition. I'd rather go after Gholston. 2nd round DT? DT isnt a need. Try CB, WR or OL 3rd. Brennan is a reach as a 3rd round pick. Played in the WAC and in a spread offense, not a pro set offense. Don't have a problem with the rest of the picks. squatch66
insert an offensive lineman where colt brennan is in the third and the kicker is in the sixth round and i really like that draft. i really hope that we would be so lucky as to have marcus monk drop to the fifth round. Hey Oldskool, I am really into mock-drafts and I can tell you that in every mock draft I have seen Gholston does not fall past #10 so I would forget about him. Although I am not in love with Calais Campbell if he were available at #21 I would have to go with him (he has dropped a lot b/c of his sub-par senior year) or I would try to trade down or trade up in the second to pick up Lawrence Jackson from USC who has shown to be amazing against the run and would be a great replacement for Philip Daniels. Personally, I'd stay away from Campbell like if he had the plague. He will be a workout warrior at the combine and his size alone is going to make some scouts want to have "personal time" afterwards. I am not sold on him at all.
Laron Burgundy
Colt Brennan would be a terrible pick in the 3rd. Heck, he'd be a terrible pick no matter where he went. He is just plain bad when he faces players who are actually good. Other than that I like your picks although I would go for a guard or corner in the second and then pick up a dt or ss in the 3rd. Personally if we landed either Demario Pressley or Dajuan Morgan in the 3rd round I'd be happy. And for the 7th I'd love to take a flier on Jack Ikeguonu or Lance Leggett. brandies
Good job. I am probably with those who would go OL in the the third. Guards tend to drop and we could probably get a good value there.
Shadskins1980
Colt Brennan heck no. Monk to the sixth round I dont think he will drop that far down. Is he only average? Big rec's get taken quick these days. Everything else I agree o-line and d-line help. I also would throw in a young RB to groom.
dswerdlw
I like the emphasis on D-Line. Campbell or Merling in first round. Okam looks like a decent pick if we trade Griffin, but watch for that high motor kid from Notre Dame to creep up the board. Brennan will be a bust. We should go after an O-Lineman in 3rd. Mike McGlynn looks good to me. Can play tackle, but probably better at guard. Gets to the second level well. Since we'll probably pick up Hackett or Javon Walker (experience with Zorn or WCO offense), drafting a WR is no priority. Still, I think we should go for Jordy Nelson in 5th or 6th round. He's a tall possession receiver with quickness. Let Zorn choose a QB in the 7th. I bet he can spot a diamond in the rough at that position. I'm banking on Springs staying since he seems pleased with the Zorn hire (first Skin to react with JLC). Otherwise, we'll need a CB in the second round. I think Lawrence Jackson is a much better D-end then lawrence but CC is okay if he there. 2nd round pick is pretty solid. I have a seious problem with the Colt Brennan pick. One is he isnt that good. He played in a weak league and threw the ball atleast 50 times a game. He aint that good. He was suck so bad in the West Coast offense to. Getting a big accurate quarterback in the later rounds pass the third like Brandon Cox from auburn. They something similar to the west coast offense and he has some pretty good accuracy. Everything else is cool.
Veretax
I'm not sold on Campbell either, and I think we are less of need at DT and hence can wait till later. We have to get a OG in NOW, there is no ifs ands or buts about it, Kendall is likely gone after this year, And Thomas has had injuries too. We need a young OG, a top shelf one that can either start this year, or be ready to start next year. I also don't like Colt Brennan, I'm not convinced he has the mobility we need in this offense, I'd rather wait till next year and Draft Chase Daniels as draft that guy. SkinsNorth
I'll give my 2 cents. In RD.1 the emphasis must be on the best player available that fills a need. IMO, that means DE, OT or CB. Players to consider would be Merling (DE), Otah or Cherilus (OT), McKelvin or Rogers-Comartie (CB). RD2 would follow the same logic, but other positions to consider besides the rd1 needs would be OLB & DT. Either Erin Henderson or Dre Moore would be good fits at their respective positions. Lawrence Jackson (DE), Carl Nicks (OT) or Patrick Lee (CB) would be intriguing. RD3 I would consider Adibi (OLB), Chris Ellis (DE), DeMarrio Presley (DT), Kirk Barton (OT), John David Booty (QB), Justin KIng or Terrell Thomas (CB) or an OG (Andrew Crummey). RD5 best player available, preferrably an interior OL, or a big WR (Maurice Purify), possibly a RB. Rd6 OL or safety Jamie Silva Rd7 developmental lineman or DB.
