Hi Suisham, meet John Carney

I like Carney, but I would not bring him in. As other people have pointed out, Carney is old, and he haslost a little leg strength each year.

We might have finally uncovered a kicker to make stop freaking saying "what if we would have kept David Akers" for a couple of months. Let's not try to screw with it.

I think Suisham has a good amount of job security right now, although one can never be sure with this team.

I just checked...Carney was 6 for 7 outside 40 yards...

I'll take THAT

I'll admit, I am impressed, his only two misses were outside the dome, but still, 13-15 and 5-6 from over 40 are pretty good for any kicker.

I still would not mess with what we have though.

i think we should just let suisman have thejob.....have some faith in him.....the main thing that sticks in my mind bout carny was after the saints pulled off the river city relay.....and then to tie the game carney misses the xp....that was hilarious.....i say we just stick with suisman......let him have the job....noneed to shake his confidence.....

Suisham may be one of the few Cowboy castoffs that actually works out for us. I'm all for the young kicker, especially if he can continue to do well on kickoffs. That's been a particular weakspot for us for what seems like years.

Nothing wrong with friendly camp competition and you need another leg so Suisham's doesn't fall off by the start of regular season. No need to repeat the very rare "double quadriceps" injury by Hall.

Plus, I don't believe they need to waste another roster spot on a kickoff specialist/long field goal guy. Use the extra spot for one of our 15 DBs or let the spot go to another DLineman, where we need the depth.

If Carney wants another job, he should head to Atlanta. He's great in domes and is almost 4 years younger than Morten Andersen.

Awww crud! I just looked and saw Andersen is two months YOUNGER than me.

Carney belongs on a team where the punter can kickoff.

Frost makes a fine backup for kickoffs but he's not a good long-term solution. Plus I think Gibbs determination to make the punter kickoff last training camp was a primary cause of Frost almost being cut. He was kicking off when he needed to focus solely on his punting technique.

We will have another kicker for camp. We will have our pick of the undrafted rookies after the draft. Their agents will steer them our way because Suisham isn't established. A rookie who comes here will have a legitimate chance to make the team.

I agree totally. Definitely no Carney.

I don't know I kind of like the fact that the cowboys gave up on suisham and he looks pretty good so far in B&G. He has the potential to be for us what akers was to the eagles. How about we actually grow a few young guys instead of always taking the vets.

Ah the old kicker problem that seems to be niggling us for the last few years.

Id stick with Suisham for now. Hell, kickers can go 25 our of 25 and miss the winner in the superbowl and you'd all hate him. Its a strange position to be in I guess.

I thought Dallas let him go due to his inconsistency, although it looks as though he only attempted 4 fgs for them, making 3 and missing 1 from 47.

It looks as though Dallas went all out on Vanderjackit throwing away a good kicker, which we luckily were able to pick up.

Here's to watching Suis kick game winners to beat the team that let him go and who now has a little munchkin kicker who was kicking 50-60% before being released by Tampa and then Indy.

Although, I guarantee all the people talking him up here will be calling for his head the moment he misses.

With all the talk of how are FO sucks and this and that, I know that I personally would be pissed if they went after John Carney or any other kicker. The most important thing that a team can do for a kicker is to show confidence in him. Suisham is a Redskin!! I dont want another kicker.....leave it at that

Hi Carney, meet retirement. How about no to to Carney on this team.

Suisham made 9 of 11 FG, and almost nailed his other 50 yard attempt. Consistently got it in the end zone or close to on kickoffs, and he is close to 20 years younger than Carney. Id rather take our potential FG kicker for the future than a retread.

always the possibility of using one of our late picks on a kicker. Justin Medlock from UCLA looks like he'd be really solid. I watched him kick in the college competitions that were on ESPN and he made all his field goals with ease and straight down the middle. Here's his stats from last year.

FIELD GOALS FGM-FGA Pct 01-19 20-29 30-39 40-49 50-99 Lg Blk

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Medlock,Justin 28-32 87.5 1-1 11-11 9-10 5-8 2-2 51 0

Did Vandercrack sign yet? He'd be someone worth looking at.

No Idiot Kicker for me, thanks! Plus he'd be a distraction and would cost more than Suisham.

He might be decent, but how about NOOOO! We only have five draft picks at the moment so IMO there's no luxury for using one on a kicker. If I'm a team flush with late-round picks like the Cowheads or Falcons, then I take a flyer on this guy (or someone like him).

Having said that, if he goes undrafted, it's worth looking at him as a UFA, but only if he doesn't demand a $50K signing bonus to get him here.
