ALL this talk about Hall being done is just that talk.Who is to say that his best years are behind him? Some kickers kick successfully into thier 40's.Hall may or may not be one of them but being in his early 30's it is too soon to say.Hall may very well return to previous form if he stays healthy.Gibbs and company know what they are doing in regard to personel moreso than these Novak supporters who back Novak even though he really hasn't done much on the pro level.I like Novak myself but all these guys wanting to bring him back are really reaching. The only way I believe he would ever be brought back would be if Hall were to be hurt again.

Gibbs has already announced that he is going to have to rely on a punter to do the kickoffs. Is that getting better?

I watched Hall the last two seasons, mostly on the bench. I watched Gibbs punt the ball from where most other teams would have attempted a FG. I only recall a few touchbacks in the LAST TWO YEARS. Put Halls numbers against Novaks in the last two years. Don't tell me he was injured, THAT'S THE PROBLEM. Our field position suffered on almost every kickoff.

No question Hall from 4 years ago was better than Novak has ever been. But Novak is young and already proven he has a cool head under pressure. And he is not afraid to tackle (like Hall). Gibbs said Hall was back at 100% to start the season last year. How long did that last?

Novak can kick 50 yarders, Hall cannot. Novaks best years are ahead, Halls are behind. There is a much better possibility Novak can work on and improve his KO range. Hall is already retired from that duty. Finished. Done. We need to rely on our punter to KO, no farther than Novak anyway. Consider a possible roster spot for a KO specialist and cap issues, I think it's a no-brainer. One of Novaks blocked FGs was due to penetration.

If you want to just look at numbers in history books, let's get Mark Mosely back.

First, Hall does an excellent job making tackles when needed on kickoffs. The guy is the size of a small linebacker....and he has made numerous saving tackles.

Hall can kick 50 yarders now that his injury has been repaired. They did not know what was wrong the first year he was hurt. The muscle tear went undiagnosed by the medical staff.

Novak averages 5-6 yards LESS than an injured John Hall on kickoffs. How is Novak an improvement. Gibbs wants to use someone else to kickoff because he wants to save wear and tear on an excellent kicker. Far more field goals are taken inside 30 yards than over 50. Accuracy is FAR more important than how far you can kick the ball. Who cares if you can kick a 50 yarder if you miss between 30 and 40 (see Novak's numbers)

Novak has yet to prove himself to FOUR NFL teams. Hall has a lot of leg and time left IF his injury is repaired.

IF Hall's injury is not repaired, then yes, the Skins need another kicker. But to replace Hall with an UNPROVEN kicker is not the answer.

Heck, I'd pick up Grammatica long before I picked Novak.

Once again....you have no proof about Novak being able to out perform a healthy Hall.

I don't even follow the Terps. The facts are right now Novak has the stonger leg than Hall and will throughout the rest of his career, barring injury. And he won 2 games for us last year.

STOP ignoring the facts. The facts are Novak's kickoff average 5-6 yards LESS than John Hall did even when he was hurt.

STOP spreading this myth that Novak's kickoffs are longer than Hall's. They are nothing more than ordinary.

He'd have to do the same thing with Novak who kicks 5 yards shorter on average.

Besides, Gibbs is not using Frost because he can kick farther. He is doing it to relieve the strain on Hall's surgically repaired groin this season. Frost is kicking the ball even shorter than Hall!! So Frost is not kicking to get longer kickoffs.

Let's stop ignoring the facts around here.

First, I meant Novak tackles LIKE Hall. Bad grammer. Sorry.

Second, what 2nd yr kicker is going to beat out Rackers?

Third, I agree Hall is money inside the 30. I don't think that's good enough, FG range can really open up a game. Add to that we forego touchbacks and kickoff to the 15.

Lastly, How far into the season will Hall remain healthy. Show me the numbers on that.

Who are you referring to as idiots?

Must be referring to Joe Gibbs because he is the one that decides which player makes the roster.

But what does Joe Gibbs know? Gosh, he's only won 3 Super Bowls and all these Novak groupies surely know more about football than Gibbs.....

Hall's injury are troublesome. Let's just hope that like Brunell, he can revert to his old form after his lingering injury heals.

That statement I will agree with. Gibbs and the medical staff believe they have put Hall's problem behind him. They know far more about the medical situation than the Novak groupies on this thread.

I hope Hall is healthy and stays that way. I am not a Novak groupie. I have not heard of a better option for possibly available kickers, though.

I did watch the team suffer for the LAST TWO SEASONS because Hall could not stay on the field. I, like you, thought Halls problems were behind him LAST YEAR. That was not the case. Except WR depth, our kicking game was our greatest weakness.
