fpickering Posted April 30, 2006 Share Posted April 30, 2006 Anthony Montgomery Height: 6-4 7/8 | Weight: 311 | 40-Time: 5.24 Strengths: Has outstanding size and a huge frame with very long arms...Still has growth potential...Very athletic...Can penetrate and collapse the pocket...Agile and moves well with good range...Hard worker...Shows flashes of brilliance...Still has upside. Weaknesses: Doesn't provide much in terms of a pass rush and only has 8 career sacks...Is not very quick and timed speed is just average at best...Needs to play with better leverage...Is not as tough, strong or physical as he should be given his size. Notes: Is also being considered as a potential offensive tackle prospect...From purely a measurables standpoint this guy has everything you look for...Someone might take a chance on him late as a developmental guy due to his great physical tools. Explodes off the snap and displays good range on the field. Takes up a lot of room in the middle of the line, keeps his feet moving on contact and is consistently doubled by opponents. Athletic and displays the ability to drop into coverage. Works to get off blocks and stays with the action. NEGATIVES: Must improve his hand technique and become quicker shedding blocks at the point. Not light on his feet. Seemingly tires easily. ANALYSIS: A solid run defender with the physical skills to develop into a player at the next level, Montgomery must improve the details of his game but offers a degree of upside potential.
