Oi. I know it's difficult, but try to hang. ;)

A city of 1,000,000 people has more crime than a city of 10,000. There are more people to commit said crimes in the larger city. There are also more people who will go to church. Ergo, more churches. You've demonstrated the divine law of COINCIDENCE. :applause:

Ask chom. This country is split lib vs. con. CNN is more liberal than FOX. FOX gets more viewers. It's simple math. Either liberals are watching FOX, or choosing to be uninformed. Which is it? :)

You do know I was being sarcastic right? That is why I was stunned you could not pick up on the parallels between my "argument" and yours. Your conclusion is just as unlikely as a Judeo-Christian God punishing people for building churches. Its not simple math, its more complicated than what you posit, and you set up a false dichotamy. I know it's difficult, but try to hang. ;) Give me a definition of liberal, then I will tell you whether CNN is "more liberal" than fox. And based on your logic, if more people watch internet porn than Fox News and CNN combined, are conservatives more perverted because they are obviously the more media savvy group? Personally I don't think porn is particularly perverted or any particular group is more media savvy, but I am just trying to apply your "simple math" theory.

Of course I know you were being sarcastic. We both were to a point.

BTW, my apologizes to FOX News for my gross underestimation of the actual ratings disparity:

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=43120

"According to Nielsen Media Research, CNN's ratings fell by 21 percent last month in primetime, and 16 percent overall, reports Variety.

FNC averaged 1.57 million viewers in primetime, up 18 percent from the same period last year, while CNN fell 21 percent to 637,000 viewers from the same time period," Variety stated."

70-30. There's a reason. I just wish you could be honest about what it is.

Did you not read my example? Television is not the only information source.

Of course not. But I'm not sure that there have been studies on whether liberals or conservatives watch more TV, whether libs or cons read more, etc. I admit that I am using the assumption that liberals and conservatives use essentially the same methods on average to obtain their news. That may or may not be true. But Americans are lazy, so both sides tend to watch a lot of TV.

It did not sound like you knew I was being sarcastic...

And to your point: a "50 50 split", with a population of a few hundred million people, in which 1.57 million watched primetime fox, and 0.64 million watched CNN primetime. That proves beyond a shadow of a doubt what exactly? What is the honest reason that I am supposed to give? Can you give me all the factors?

Where are you getting 70-30 from? Are you being deliberately obtuse? The only part of that article that mentions anything that could be interpreted as a percentage share (the rest of the time they're talking about percentage increases and decreases of ratings) is when they give the viewer figure for prime time, and in that they only give Fox and CNN viewers while explicitly stating that there are other parties.

I've attempted to do my civic duty and clearly failed. You guys continue to watch CBS and their fake documents, then rant against the administration.

I'll continue to watch what I believe is a reputable news source, that has yet to be proven otherwise.

My apologies to the thread starter for getting so far off topic for so long. Ask Destino, I tried to avoid it.

Right. Three times as many people watch my network as yours. I'm a complete (no out of context) dumbass.

Man, How can you actually ONLY watch fox news? Its so biased, it appeals to the lower intelligence part of society, the hosts are clueless, it is has way too much of a political slant, and they have tiki barber on Fox and Friends. C'mon, gimme a break. I can understand if you watch fox news in addition to others to get a full view of the news. but just watching fox news, is imo, ignorant. Everytime i watch that channel, i get sick. its feeding propaganda to the masses. same as cbs, and others. but you gotta watch all the other news stations to get the whole picture. your gettin only one POV from fox, and thats plain ignorant. :2cents:

My first post when we got onto this topic said as much. But for GD sake, ONE news channel with ANY conservative slant. Damn. Aren't we entitled to ONE?!?!

How bout Lou Dobbs spending a solid week talking about how we were surrendering control of our ports to the Arabs, and that was tantamount to treason. Speaking of completely uninformed and sickening. But hey, liberal network, so I know. It's OK.

Why do you only watch Fox News Channel?

I DON'T!!!!!!!!!

I said as much in this thread...several times. How would I know about Dobbs? How would I know about the fake docs on CBS? How would I have any right to call other networks liberal?

In the stadium, you may have seen me call the WP a ****rag with opion columns masquerading as news stories on the front page. That's because every once in a while I (ugh) force myself to read it.

And though you no doubt get your news from multiple sources, you no doubt have a favorite, right? It's human nature.

***Thanks for a complete waste of my 2500th post.  ***

Wow, I have stated that CNN is not my network of choice (I can't stand it here), I see that my words have obviously gotten through to you. And I don't watch CBS either. Three times as many people watch Fox News at primetime instead of CNN. Using your logic (again!) more people read the Washington Post instead of the Washington Times. Therefore most conservatives in the area realize that the Post is a better newspaper than the Times. And that is with the dropping numbers for the Post!

Unless you are judging quality by populary (a retarded argument if there ever was one), then what the hell are you trying to say in your statement? More people watch fox news than cnn? Go back to your smug sense of superiority, I thought you left this thread after you did not try to avoid turning it into a pro Fox News rant.

And Lou Dobbs is a worthless protectionist hack, a lot of liberals dont like him, and a lot of conservatives do. He was slamming Clinton back in the day as well.

I did. Then I lowered myself to being drawn back in by your final "nah nah ne boo boo" post. My bad.

Dude, you have no idea who I am. Nor I you. It's a matter of taste, and we simply disagree. I don't care if you watch FOX or not. And I'm sure you don't care whether or not I watch your mystery channel.

Assuming your still a Redskin fan, let's call this a "brotherly spat" and go find a Poke fan to ass-chew together.

(And yes, that's a simple way of saying I'm tired, and you're making my brain hurt. ;) )

In my liberal household in which mom is a single parent we cannot afford cable until we moved to a condo that provides it and therefore cant watch CNN or Fox News for a long time. We must stick with the local channels. I wonder what the average income for a republican is vs the average income of a democrat is.(Many people in the crappiest parts of DC probably cant afford cable)

First of all, you have my utmost respect. There is no more demanding, nor important job in the world than raising kids, and to do it by yourself is truly admirable.

I would venture to say (just guessing) that Republicans have a higher average income. And I guess that could be a small part of the difference.

As to the question of why FOX's ratings are higher....

Lets say for the sake of argument that the country is split 50/50 left and right.

CNN, MSNBC, CNBC - have all been labeled left wing as have CBS ABC and everyone else not named FOX. FOX is the stand alone right wing news source. Simple logic here people - All the so called liberal networks are splitting 50% - FOX has the other 50% basically all to itself. That spells higher ratings for FOX and lower ratings for the others even if no left winger ever turns on FOX.

If FOX is able to keep it's ratings high if/when another republican news channel emerges then I'll be impressed. Until then all they've done is become party shills to steal market share. Great move by management but certainly not an ethical move worth celebrating.
