SkinsNoles21
Paul has really proven to be the best commish in sports; seeing as how we are going to avoid another possible lockout, and other sports haven't been able to avoid that situation. Also the speech he gave yesterday was one that propelled them to getting this thing finished. GO Tagliabue

Mass_SkinsFan
Mr. Tagliabue, Thank you very much. Thank you for working to complete the destruction of a sport that I USED to love. A sport that used to be about Greatness and Dominance. Where Dynasties existed and teams were allowed to be a good or as bad as they wanted and could afford to be. Thank you for teaching our children that Socialism, not Capialism, is the proper socio-economic model for life. That they should never be allowed to have more or be better than the person next to them. That if they do happen to have more than the other guy(especially if they got it by working harder than the other guy) they should be FORCED to share with him. Thank you for caving in to a UNION. Especially in a day and age where they're becoming more and more worthless, outdated and unnecessary. Thank you for wasting all or our time the last ten days. Sincerely, Mass_SkinsFan Spencer, MA

Mass_SkinsFan
Oh brother. You tell me what the message is, if that isn't it? The whole NFL system since 1994 has been designed to create parity and mediocrity (sorry for repeating myself) at the expense of Greatness, Dominance and Dynasties. Paul Tagliabue and his cronies put in place a system in 1994 (and have just extended it) where there is little enticement for the lower-revenue teams to increase their revenue and income. They're getting monies they don't deserve from the TV/Radio/Merchandising contracts and more importantly from the other owners (who do make money) and having the league cap their potential expenditures at the same time. They're having their cake and eating it too. Nice deal it you can get it. If that isn't a Socialist policy, I don't know what is. It has lead to a much lower quality product on the field (so far as I am concerned) and a general atmosphere to the league that makes me physically ill. The message is competition and it's what has made the sport as good as it has today. Christ the Buccaneers have won a Super Bowl for god's sake. You think that would have happened in the old system? Mass_SkinsFan
The message is competition and it's what has made the sport as good as it has today. Oh Really? Competition? Last time I checked "Ok Johnny, you don't run as fast as Billy so we're going to smack him in the knee with a baseball bat just before the race to make it fair" isn't PROMOTING COMPETITION. Yet that's exactly what the NFL does. Holding the upper level teams back isn't the way to promote equality in the league. Providing incentive for the lower end teams to improve (get better or go out of business) might be, but the league obviously has no interest in that. Christ the Buccaneers have won a Super Bowl for god's sake. You think that would have happened in the old system? THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! You're making my point for me, and I thank you for that. I'm also very glad you didn't use the Patriots as your example, as I have a well-known bias against them. The Buccaneers would NEVER have won a Super Bowl under the old system. Nor would they have DESERVED to win a Super Bowl. They refused to put the resources necessary to WIN into the old system. Whether it was a matter of not having those resources or not wanting to use them is of no concern to the equation. NOW, with Paul Tagliabue and his cronies holding the other teams that WERE willing to invest those resources back in the day, the Bucs "Win" a Super Bowl. Or, in reality, they were assisted in "Winning" a Super Bowl by a system designed to hamper their opponents efforts.

How did that work out for them?
