LegionOfDoom
I heard on the radio a couple of days ago, P.Kings justificaton for Art Monk and it was terrible. Some one brought up M.Irvin and compared his stats to A.Rison and was silent. Check the Stats a little surprise here. Art Monk - http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/MonkAr00.htm M. Irvin - http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/IrviMi00.htm A. Rison - http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/RisoAn00.htm

LegionOfDoom
fail to see the suprise here... I didn't know Rison scored that many TD's....but they still want Irvin in the Hall (over Monk) is my surprise.
jbooma
I didn't know Rison scored that many TD's....but they still want Irvin in the Hall (over Monk) is my surprise. It is because of less years, similar production and more top 10's and more probowls. The case against Monk was he didn't dominate like Irvin did. For about 3 years everyone knew Irvin was getting the ball, and no one could stop him. I believe both Monk and Irvin should be in the hof, no question there. Rison though yes he has stats, but rings is another key and his teams were never great. Plus he played in the run-n-shoot offense, so the numbers are slanted. Monk and Irvin both played in a run based offense.
CalSkinsFan
I believe Andre Reed of Buffalo is the third WR to make the cut, not Rison. But Reed has very comparable numbers to Monk and Irvin.

Not saying Rison was making the cut just a comparison of the stats with Rison included to show how his numbers rival Irvin yet Irvin is more liked to get in compared to Monk.... dg28daman
Theres no reason why Monk wasn't in the hall years ago.
Gamebreaker
I remember one HOF voter saying Monk didn't see the endzone enough in his career as a reciever to make the Hall of Fame. I wonder what that same voter thinks of Irvin getting 3 fewer touchdowns.
TheDane
Yo, Left Eye burned down Andre's home. Andre needs to get into the Hall just for dealing with that.

Apologies, I thought with the common first name you may have gotten Rison and Reed mixed up. Unfortanately, I think you may be right that Irvin will get in before Monk. A couple of co-wrkers and I had a debate about which of the three would go. After comparing all the stats, we concluded maybe none is trully worthy, but if someone like Lynn Swan (among others) gets in because he made the flashy catches but averaged only 3/game, then Monk and Irvin should go. supersmartbrunell5
Can you believe that Irvin had 111 catches in 1995 and was 5th in the NFL that year...WTF what a crazy year.
