MarkPSkins
MELBOURNE, Australia -- Gun-toting granny Ava Estelle, 81, was so ticked-off when two thugs raped her 18-year-old granddaughter that she tracked the unsuspecting ex-cons down and shot off their testicles. The old lady spent a week hunting those men down -- and when she found them, she took revenge on them in her own special way,- said Melbourne police investigator Evan Delp. Then she took a taxi to the nearest police station, laid the gun on the sergeant's desk and told him as calm as could be: "Those *******s will never rape anybody again, by God." Cops say convicted rapist and robber Davis Furth, 33, lost both his penis and his testicles when outraged Ava opened fire with a 9-mm pistol in the hotel room where he and former prison cellmate Stanley Thomas, 29, were holed up. The wrinkled avenger also blew Thomas' testicles to kingdom come, but doctors managed to save his mangled penis, police said. The one guy, Thomas, didn't lose his manhood, but the doctor I talked to said he won't be using it the way he used to, Detective Delp told reporters. Both men are still in pretty bad shape, but I think they're just happy to be alive after what they've been through. The Rambo Granny swung into action June 21 after her granddaughter Debbie was carjacked and raped in broad daylight by two knife-wielding creeps in a section of town bordering on skid row. "When I saw the look on my Debbie's face that night in the hospital, I decided I was going to go out and get those *******s myself 'cause I figured the Law would go easy on them," recalled the retired library worker. "And I wasn't scared of them, either -- because I've got me a gun and I've been shootin' all my life. And I wasn't dumb enough to turn it in when the law changed about owning one." So, using a police artist's sketch of the suspects and Debbie's description of the sickos', tough-as-nails Ava spent seven days prowling the wino-infested neighborhood where the crime took place till she spotted the ill-fated rapists entering their flophouse hotel. "I knew it was them the minute I saw 'em, but I shot a picture of 'em anyway and took it back to Debbie and she said sure as hell, it was them," the oldster recalled. "So I went back to that hotel and found their room and knocked on the door -- and the minute the big one, Furth, opened the door, I shot 'em right square between the legs, right where it would really hurt 'em most, you know. Then I went in and shot the other one as he backed up pleading to me to spare him. Then I went down to the police station and turned myself in." Now, baffled lawmen are trying to figure out exactly how to deal with the vigilante granny. What she did was wrong, and she broke the law, but it is difficult to throw an 81-year-old woman in prison. Det. Delp said. Especially when 3 million people in the city want to nominate her for sainthood and a medal.
Sarge
While you can't have vigilantes running around in the street, if more people got what was coming to them, I submit the crime rate would drop considerably.
The Evil Genius
Here you go boys. Its for all you guys who enjoy the fine sport of spotlighting. A .50-Caliber M2 machine gun is lowered into the cargo area of a GMC Suburban as it is prepared for towing to a test site from the Ibis Tek shop in Butler, Pa. on Friday, Aug. 2, 2002. A .40-mm grenade launcher is offered as an alternative weapon. An Ibis ride with all the trimmings will set you back about $500,000. Funkyalligator
You go granny!!!! I would do the same thing and deal with the consequences, should I ever have a daughter or a close relative to whom this happened I would make sure the guys involved didn't have use of their d*cks ever again. Burgold
I respect what she did. I don't know that I can morally approve at least in the idealistic abstract, but I certainly respect it. Personally, because she turned herself in I think she did fine. I think she does deserve under the law there should be a punishment, but it should be tempered. The Evil Genius
Of course, if she had shot the wrong people... The fact that she shot the right thugs...then its ok, no? Go granny go.
gbear
Burgold, I agree. I tend to view laws as a social contract. She didn't even break the contract. As our laws are set up, there is a penalty for breaking them. She (and I suspect many of us) believe that shooting those creeps was worth the penalty under the law. It was her choice to make. Go Granny. I do feel even more for the victem though. Not only was she raped, but now her granny is going to jail as a result. Crappy deal for her. OrangeSkin
We can't have total anarchy, but this is one cool granny.
Burgold
According to the article, she was pretty darn careful and double checked using photos so the victim could confirm. Still, you are right, there is a chance that she may have found the wrong guys and if so, commited a wrong. However, because of the crime I have empathy for Granny and the victim, because of the way she attacked the problem I can understand why she did what she did, and finally because she turned herself in and is willing to deal with the consequences of her breaking the law, I can respect her. redman
On the contrary, there would appear to have been excellent gun control! She was very much on the ball! Sorry guys, but the emphasis in being careful not to trample rights dilutes the justice that our system is supposed to provide. That criminals don't show such caution for rights in their often heinous acts justifiably gets people dreaming about vigilanteism. I wouldn't want the government imposing this sentence, but it's great that a family member did, doubly so for an 81-year old granny.
